Chapter 274: She Loves Studying

Xia Changyu still wanted to keep explaining?

This guy…

He probably thought she didn’t understand anything. That she was still the same flustered mess from before, too shy to speak, too nervous to act.

But from all the overly helpful “guidance,” the suspicious timing of his “hints,” and that smug tone in his voice, she had already guessed what was really going on.

She wasn’t that slow. But things weren’t over yet.

Xia Changyu hugged her tightly and his breath tickled her ear.

She didn’t move.

Still, in the beginning, she treated it like a task. Like something to endure.

She told herself she could keep a straight face, even as her breathing grew uneven.

It was just a small test. Just something to get through. Like reviewing dry policies or repetitive mock exam questions, dull, tedious, and best done quickly.

She felt there shouldn't be any difference from the previous test, which she had successfully completed.

But this time… something felt different.

She didn’t know when it changed.

She… kind of liked it?

Maybe it was the way Xia Changyu’s hand held hers, not too tight, not too loose, but just right, steadying her like he always did when her confidence faltered.

Maybe it was the way his voice kept coaxing her, even when she thought she already knew everything.

Every time he leaned closer, her concentration wavered. But not from irritation, it was anticipation.

"Are you having any difficulty?" he asked carefully, leaning forward slightly.

“…No, keep going,” she whispered. And this time, she meant it.

As the minutes passed, her body felt relaxed, any trace of her former resistance dissolved, replaced by a sensation she hadn't anticipated.

Her breath began to tremble for another reason entirely.

Warmth spread from the center of her chest outward, until she could no longer pretend she was just tolerating it.

She really liked it.

She liked the way he guided her. The way he watched her reactions with such intense focus, as if he was the one studying her, not the other way around.

She had started with indifference. But now, it felt like her heart was echoing in her ears. Every time she reached for the next "question," she did so with more urgency than the last.

“Another one,” she whispered. “Let’s do another.”

Her voice was soft, eager. Almost pleading.

Xia Changyu paused, surprised by her tone.

But she turned to look at him, eyes bright. Her cheeks were flushed, lips slightly parted. Not from embarrassment, but from anticipation.

“Please?”

He stared at her for a moment, like he wasn’t sure what to say.

“…You sure?” he asked, quiet.

She nodded without hesitation. “I’m fine. I want to.”

So he gave in.

Again.

And again.

Minute by minute passed like that, each one marked by half-whispered questions, shallow breaths, tangled fingers, and the occasional muttered complaint from her when he teased too much.

Every time they paused, she’d lean in again with an impatient, “Keep going.”

Xia Changyu tried to slow their pace, to bring things under control. But Lin Yibai wasn’t having it anymore. Somewhere along the way, she had taken control. Not with words, but with her actions. With the kind of learning method only she could pull off.

He was amazed, really.

She’d always been composed, rational, so meticulous in her daily life. But now she was the one urging them forward, her eyes gleaming with an intense, almost wild, curiosity.

She wasn’t just accepting it.

She liked it.

No, she was addicted to it.

By the time Xia Changyu finished giving the lesson on the final practice page, his energy was completely depleted.

Xia Changyu had finally pulled away, the atmosphere had settled, but only just.

Lin Yibai’s cheeks were still flushed, her breaths still light and uneven, her body betraying just how much she had thrown herself into this strange, breathless “lesson.”

Her hair faintly clung to her temples, and there was a subtle, almost heart-like glow in her eyes, one that hadn't been there when they started.

Xia Changyu had assumed she would be exhausted by now. Maybe even reluctant. But when he glanced at her again, she was already shifting in place, leaning toward him like she wasn’t done yet.

But she was still reaching out, still hungry for more.

This time, when she whispered, “One more?” He didn’t answer immediately.

Instead, he gently pulled back, brushing her hair away from her face.

“Baiyi,” he said softly, while caressing her face. “really… we should stop here for today.”

But Lin Yibai didn’t move.

Instead, she looked up at him with a slow, steady smile, her voice soft but dangerously sweet.

“I want to keep learning, teacher. Is that okay?”

Xia Changyu froze. His brain took a full second to process the words. Another second passed as he replayed her words.

After that, his mind went utterly blank.

What happened to his girlfriend?

Where is the girlfriend who used to be so shy when talking about these things?

He still vividly remembered the first time they did… this. She’d been so tense, so overwhelmed, that she had literally fainted afterward.

But now… now she was asking for more?

No, not asking.

Demanding.

And with that eager spark in her eyes, like she’d discovered some forbidden joy she couldn’t give up.

“I…” Xia Changyu opened his mouth, then closed it again. Then, he took a slow breath and replied carefully, “Okay. But how about we end it here for now, and we’ll continue… tonight?”

Lin Yibai stared at him, and a wave of irritation washed over her.

“What’s that supposed to mean? You don’t want to continue? Weren’t you the one who was so eager before? And now you’re backing out?!”

No! He’s not allowed to escape this classroom until she’s completely satisfied with the knowledge she came for!
