Chapter 37: Caught Red-Handed!
What had happened earlier made things between the two of them awkward and tense.
An Han deeply regretted it. Since all his roommates were away, he had let his guard down, and ended up changing clothes without locking the door.
Too careless!
Thankfully, the wardrobe door had blocked Su Peng’s view. Otherwise, who knew what might have happened?
And his reaction had been way too extreme! If he had just asked Su Peng to leave in a calm and gentle way, things wouldn’t be this awkward now.
Su Peng must have been upset. Otherwise, his favorability points wouldn’t have dropped.
From Su Peng’s perspective, An Han’s behavior must have looked completely strange and confusing.
Earlier, before five o’clock, An Han had already eaten dinner. Now, sitting across from Su Peng, he only ordered a bowl of sour wontons. While eating, he kept his eyes lowered and secretly glanced at Su Peng from time to time.
I should make him less angry, he thought with a sigh, not knowing what to do.
It really was his fault this time, so he couldn’t blame Su Peng for being annoyed.
While An Han was busy thinking about how to make up for it, he didn’t notice that Su Peng was also secretly watching him from the corner of his eye.
Right now, An Han looked like a little puppy that had done something wrong, sitting quietly in the corner, glancing up at his “owner” every now and then with those big, dark eyes, but not daring to make eye contact.
So cute…
Su Peng’s irritation slowly faded away, and with a teasing tone he asked,
“So, what exactly were you doing in the dorm that you didn’t want me to see?”
“N–nothing!”
An Han quickly shook his head, panicking, which only made Su Peng laugh out loud.
“What are you laughing at…” An Han muttered under his breath, lowering his head. “Su Peng, you’re getting more and more annoying.”
“How am I annoying?”
He didn’t even know how to explain it. In his heart, he silently complained about how hard it was to raise those twenty favorability points.
Long Xing had once gained ten points in one go!
But you? Only five points at a time and you just lost three! Why’s there such a big difference between people?!
“Where did you go this afternoon?” An Han asked curiously.
“Someone asked me out to watch a movie.”
That instantly caught his attention. “A girl?”
“Yeah.”
“Oooh~” An Han noticed that Su Peng didn’t seem angry anymore, so he grinned and teased, “After the movie, did you go rent a room for a few hours too?”
Now he was completely relieved. Clearly, Su Peng liked girls, which meant there was no way he’d have any strange interest in him.
Su Peng rolled his eyes. “No.”
“Was she pretty? Did she chase you first? Do you like her?” An Han kept throwing out questions nonstop, full of gossip.
“Why do you care so much about my business?”
“If it were Brother Long, he’d tell me everything.”
“That’s because he likes you in women’s clothes.”
“......”
An Han was speechless.
“Not really,” Su Peng said while eating, “I wouldn’t say I like her, I just kind of have a good impression.”
He kept his eyes on his food but couldn’t shake the feeling that An Han’s questions had some hidden meaning behind them.
Could it be… he’s trying to find out if I already like someone?
Looking at An Han’s slightly red cheeks, he really did seem shy.
“I see~” Curiosity filled An Han’s heart. “What’s her name? Do I know her?”
“An Kexin.”
“I remember her! She was in the debate competition last time, right?”
Because they shared the same family name, An Han still remembered the girl’s name and appearance.
But thinking carefully, she wasn’t really that pretty. Actually, she was a little chubby.
An Han muttered quietly, “She’s not even as good-looking as me. I think she weighed about 65 kg during the fitness test.”
Having the system made him confident enough to compare his looks with girls now.
Su Peng’s sharp ears caught that muttered comment.
Caught red-handed!
“You really have no taste,” he said.
“She’s got a good personality,” Su Peng replied calmly.
“Yeah, her personality’s not bad,” An Han admitted, though deep down he was definitely someone who cared more about looks. Otherwise, his first love would’ve been back in middle school, not that he’d still be single now.
Then he realized he shouldn’t be bad-mouthing the girl Su Peng liked. Panicking a little, he quickly tried to fix his words.
“But personality’s way more important than looks, right?”
“Yeah.”
An Han lowered his head again, trying to hide his awkward expression.
Su Peng started to suspect even more that maybe… An Han really had feelings for him.
After a short pause, Su Peng decided to ask directly, “An Han, you don’t… like men, do you?”
“How could that be?” An Han looked at him in surprise. “Why would you think that?”
“But you…”
So that’s it, he’s worried I might like him!
That thought almost made An Han laugh. It was actually the same thing he had been worrying about earlier!
Now that he understood, An Han waved his hand dismissively. “Even if I went to hell, I’d never like a guy, okay?”
“I’ve just been hanging around you lately because being alone in the dorm is too boring. I don’t have any girls chasing me, and all my roommates went home, there’s no one left to talk to.”
Su Peng nodded silently.
Honestly, if he hadn’t seen An Han pretending to be a girl online, he might’ve believed that.
After dinner, An Han was so full his stomach felt round, and even walking back was tiring. But his mind was still focused on the favorability points. At least Su Peng didn’t seem angry anymore after this meal.
Testing the waters, An Han asked, “How about we go see a movie together?”
Over the years, An Han had rarely gone to the movies with his roommates. Mostly because he wasn’t really interested in films.
Su Peng knew that too. Frowning a little, he asked, “What movie do you want to watch?”
“I don’t know.”
An Han just wanted more time alone with Su Peng to raise his favorability score.
But that only made Su Peng more suspicious.
He really might like guys… otherwise, why would two men go to a movie together and not even know what to watch? That’s kind of weird.
“Relax, I just want to watch a movie because I’m bored,” An Han said quickly, waving his hand like it was nothing. “If you don’t want to, that’s fine. How about we play some games together tonight instead?”
“Sure.”
“Then are you staying in my dorm again?”
“Uh… maybe not this time.”
If Su Peng stayed in his dorm again, it might really look suspicious.
An Han didn’t push it. He just hoped that playing games together could still raise their friendship level.
“At least bring your computer to my room, okay? It’s annoying to talk over voice chat from different rooms.”
“Hmm…” Su Peng turned his head and saw An Han’s big, hopeful eyes staring at him. After a moment’s hesitation, he finally gave in. “Alright, fine.”
“It’s a deal then!” An Han said excitedly, wrapping an arm around Su Peng’s neck.
Su Peng suddenly felt a warm, soft body pressed against him. He shifted uncomfortably, but couldn’t pull away.
An Han smelled really good…
Then it hit him, the scent on An Han’s bed wasn’t from any perfume. It was his own natural scent.
