Chapter 51: Side Effect
“Here, here.”
Ren Chi pushed open An Han’s dorm room door while carrying a pack of canned cola.
His chest was rising and falling, and he was breathing hard through his mouth and nose. It was clear he came in a hurry.
“Teacher~” An Han’s voice was full of expectation.
“The cola you wanted.” Ren Chi put the cola on the desk, then pulled a chair over and sat down, breathing heavily like a cow. “Why didn’t you say earlier that you wanted cola? I just moved a load of luggage, and before I could rest, you called me back again.”
“I suddenly wanted to drink it.” An Han took a can of cola, happily drank a sip, then asked, “How much is still not moved?”
“One more trip and it’ll be done. I still need to tidy things up tonight.”
Ren Chi leaned back in the chair and also took a cola. He gulped it down in one go, threw the empty can into the trash, then turned his head to look at An Han.
Why does An Han’s appearance look… well different?
He stared at An Han in surprise. Earlier, when An Han helped him move, he looked like a slightly feminine-looking boy. At the clinic, he looked like a complete girl. And now, just looking at his face, he looked like a handsome young boy.
He couldn’t figure out what was going on and even wondered if there was something wrong with his own eyes.
But… is An Han’s body also smaller than before?
That handsome face together with a body that looked thin and small like a girl’s created a strange, unbalanced feeling.
Must be because he didn’t pay attention at the start. After all, he doesn’t spend his free time staring at his own student, especially a male student.
Ah, that must be it!
Ren Chi explained all the strange details in his mind like that.
An Han noticed him staring and nervously tightened his fingers on the chair. Even his smile looked a bit forced.
So what exactly is the side effect?
Could it also be something like charming men? But so far, there was no notification of increased favor, and he couldn’t see anything strange from Ren Chi.
Or is the side effect happening directly to me? Otherwise, why is the advisor staring at me for so long?
He lowered his head and checked his body, making sure his chest was fully hidden under the jacket. Then he asked in confusion, “Teacher, why do you keep looking at me?”
“Nothing.” Ren Chi pushed himself up from the desk and headed toward the door. “I’m going back to work. If you have something to say, say it now. I won’t have time to run back here later.”
“Hey, wait!”
“What else?”
An Han felt a bit anxious. Do you really think I called you here just because I was bored and wanted cola?
The item’s side effect, why is there no reaction at all?
He could only ask directly. “Teacher, is there something strange about me?”
Since the side effect clearly isn’t about increasing favor, then something must have made him look more feminine again.
“You look fine.” Ren Chi turned back to look at him.
“Can you look more carefully?” An Han asked with clear hope.
Ren Chi rubbed his chin with his fingers and seriously looked him over again, then said in a advising tone, “I think you should work out. You look too skinny.”
“That’s not it…”
Ren Chi leaned closer, still not understanding why An Han suddenly acted like this.
This student even uses perfume? Quite particular.
“You seem to have something on your face?”
Ah—crap!
An Han awkwardly leaned back to put some distance between himself and Ren Chi.
This item really wasn’t well-designed. It didn’t even hide the fact that he was wearing makeup.
From far away, the foundation on his face looked okay, but up close, you could see hints of it.
Is this the side effect?
“It’s moisturizer. I stay in the dorm with the air conditioner on every day, so my face gets dry and flaky.”
At this point, An Han’s lies flowed smoothly. He was taking advantage of the fact that Ren Chi knew nothing about makeup.
“Oh, then that’s fine. I don’t see anything wrong.”
“Really?”
For some reason, An Han felt his heartbeat speed up, and his cheeks grew red.
His nose also seemed more sensitive than before. Even though he was half a meter away from Ren Chi, he could faintly smell Ren Chi’s strong scent.
It didn’t smell bad, kind of like sweat, but the more he smelled it, the more dizzy he felt.
“I’ll go now, okay?” Ren Chi showed real concern for his student. “Remember to put medicine on your ankle. If it still hurts tomorrow afternoon, I’ll take you to the hospital for an X-ray.”
The red on his face slowly spread across his whole body. Even though the AC was set to sixteen degrees, An Han felt as if a fire was burning in his lower belly. The heat in his body made him restless.
He instinctively tightened his legs and tried his best to keep a straight face as he replied, “I know, you can go.”
But Ren Chi was observant. The moment he looked back, he noticed something strange and stopped walking. He came back to An Han’s side again.
“You have a fever again, don’t you?”
“P-probably?”
“Your body is really weak. You need to exercise more.”
The closer Ren Chi came, the stronger that burning, dizzy feeling became.
An Han nervously curled his shoulders, lowered his head, and tried hard to control his behavior. “I have medicine in the dorm. I’ll take it later.”
“Where is it? I’ll get it for you.”
“I can do it myself. Go take care of your work.”
Ren Chi shook his head helplessly. “Your ankle is twisted. Try not to move too much. I’ll get the medicine and boil some water so it’s easier for you to take it later.”
If An Han’s ankle injury didn’t have something to do with him, he wouldn’t be taking such good care of him.
Normally he would just say a simple reminder. After all, they were both adults who should know how to take care of themselves.
An Han’s face became even redder. His eyes started to lose focus. The burning heat in his body made him instinctively pull open his collar, trying to let more cold air touch his skin.
He suddenly realized… the advisor looked… pretty handsome too~ Look at those chest muscles~
His eyes were stuck on Ren Chi, unable to look away.
Strange thoughts started floating in his mind, making everything blurry. But then he snapped back to awareness and forced himself to stay clear-headed.
Something’s wrong. Something is definitely wrong.
“Turn on the fan for me. I’m so hot.”
“You can’t turn on the fan when you have a fever.” Ren Chi even changed the AC to 26 degrees and scolded him while doing it. “26 is the best temperature. You always set it to 16, of course your body becomes weak with the big temperature difference.”
“Before you take medicine, remember to eat. Also, when you go to bed tonight, be careful…”
Ren Chi kept talking and talking, like a nagging father giving detailed instructions about everything.
Please, I’m begging you, just leave already!!
How come you never talk this much on normal days?!
An Han almost fell to the floor to beg him to go. Instead, he pretended to be very sick, laying flat on the desk, not looking up, and even holding his breath as much as he could.
Even though his head was dizzy and his heartbeat was wild, he suddenly understood the truth.
I get it! The side effect of the disguise item is fever!
Damn! Seriously?!
One item makes men fall for me! And this item makes me fall for men?!
This is insane! What kind of broken, stupid item is this?!
“Are you feeling that bad?” Ren Chi asked curiously while standing next to the boiling kettle. “Should I take you to the hospital?”
An Han worried he would stay even longer, so he yawned and said, “Just sleepy.”
“Your face is really red.”
