Chapter 302: Do You Want to Play a Role-Playing Game?
Meeting the parents?
Lin Yibai fell into deep thought. It really was a heavy topic!
But then she quickly came back to her senses. Wait a second! She’s a girl now!
She started counting on her fingers, then giggled as she listed, “No need to stress about buying a house, or getting a car, or preparing the bride price and the three gold items. Hahaha!”
The great thing about being a girl, she realized, was that when it comes to marriage, the pressure is way less. As long as you find a good man, there’s not much else to worry about.
Of course, she wouldn’t force anyone to do anything either.
Lin Yibai could swear 100%. Even if her boyfriend wasn’t Xia Changyu, she still wouldn’t pressure anyone about a house or a car.
She actually thought a lot like most guys, with a simple and practical mindset, looking at the cost versus value.
If buying a house or car becomes a huge burden, and you still force yourself to do it, then she’d honestly wonder, was something wrong with the guy?
Just then, Xia Changyu walked out of the bathroom, freshly showered, a white towel wrapped around his waist, his toned abs clearly on display, very tempting to look at.
Seeing Lin Yibai's silly grin, he couldn't help but ask curiously, “Baiyi, what are you secretly laughing about?”
Lin Yibai snapped out of it and quickly pulled her thoughts together. “Oh, nothing. I was just thinking about meeting your parents. I hope it’ll be a fun experience!”
Xia Changyu immediately took it seriously and asked, “So when exactly are you going to meet them?”
Lin Yibai replied, “After I finish the civil service exam!”
Xia Changyu threw up his hands, sounding a bit helpless. “So if you never pass the exam, does that mean you’ll never meet my parents?”
Lin Yibai rolled her eyes hard and said with mock anger, “Huh! What kind of unlucky thing is that to say? Are you saying I’ll never pass? You don’t believe in me at all, huh?”
Xia Changyu quickly explained, “No, no! I didn’t mean it like that.”
Lin Yibai shrugged, not too bothered. “Anyway, it’s no big deal. It’s mostly a personal thing for me. I just want to have a stable job before I meet your mom and dad. That way, they’ll probably be even more pleased with me.”
Xia Changyu sighed, “Most girls wouldn’t think that way, you know.”
Lin Yibai took a deep breath and replied softly, “Well, that’s because I’m not most girls. I can’t just graduate and rush to find a boyfriend, then do nothing except wait to get married and have kids. That’s why I’m me, right?”
She then got up to grab her pajamas.
It was early in the year, the weather still a bit cold. She also wanted to wash up and go to bed early.
But just as she casually undid one button on the work blouse she was still wearing, Xia Changyu stopped her. “Wait a second, can you not wash up just yet?”
Lin Yibai looked confused. “Huh?”
Xia Changyu clearly wanted something, but his eyes looked away shyly. After a moment, he said softly, “Don’t you think you look really good when you’re wearing your work outfit?”
Lin Yibai: “So?”
Xia Changyu gave an awkward laugh to hide his embarrassment, then added, “I don’t mean anything weird! It’s just that, you know me, I run my own small company, so I’ve never had a boss or gone to job interviews… And your job right now… just so happens to be in Human Resources.”

Good grief.
She couldn’t help but say in her heart, ‘This guy… seriously.’
If you're also a guy, you can probably guess what Xia Changyu was thinking, right?
Yep, this guy actually wanted to try… an office cosplay?
But wasn't that a bit too much? It’s not that Lin Yibai didn’t want to play along or pretend to role-play.
It’s just that… they had already done that many times yesterday, and Lin Yibai felt that kind of thing should have limits. After all, doing it every single day didn’t seem like a great idea!
So, Lin Yibai gently said no.
“No way. We just did it yesterday. Today’s supposed to be a rest day.”
Xia Changyu’s face dropped. He mumbled, “I don’t know what a rest day is… I only know... every day!”
But Lin Yibai still shook her head. “No.”
Xia Changyu asked again, “Can you think about it? Just reconsider?”
Lin Yibai firmly said, “No means no.”
Then Xia Changyu walked over, gently bit her earlobe, and whispered, “Please? Just one time?”
Lin Yibai: “......”
Xia Changyu made a promise. “I swear, just once!”
Lin Yibai, with her soft heart, started to give in. “R-Really? You promise, just once?”
Xia Changyu replied, “Promise! And… just wear what you’re wearing now, okay? I think it’s really hot.”
Still wearing this outfit?
There was no way Lin Yibai would agree to do that in her actual work clothes!
Wearing formal office wear in bed just felt wrong. What if something got dirty?
But… well, if he wanted to play, she could play along.
After washing up, Lin Yibai changed into a white blouse, a short skirt, and black tights.
She sat on the edge of the bed, pushed up a pair of pink-rimmed glasses from who-knows-where, and said in a serious voice.
“I’ve reviewed your job application. Now please introduce yourself. You should know, our company is one of the best in the industry. It’s not easy to get hired here! Most people don’t even qualify to apply!”
So… was it really that hard to get in?
Well, ten minutes later, the "job applicant" was already acting wild. While he was aggressively applying, he shouted,
“Can I come in or not? Am I qualified or not? Say it!”
And… even the neighborhood dogs were howling all night.
The next morning, Lin Yibai got out of bed, sore all over.
She muttered to herself...
Who was the one that said “just once”?
Who was the one who barked all night like a dog?
Xia Changyu looked even worse off. He just stood to the side with a sheepish smile, giving her a shoulder massage. “My dear wife, how are you feeling?”
Lin Yibai gave him a side glance and asked, “Was that a dog barking?”
Xia Changyu clearly wanted to say something but hesitated. Then he said, “Baiyi, haven’t you noticed that I’ve really gotten stronger lately?”
Lin Yibai chuckled, “There’s still time before work. Want to go a few more rounds this morning? I’m kinda curious, how strong are you really?”
Xia Changyu: “N-no thanks!”
Only he knew the truth. Just when he thought he was unstoppable, she would instantly take him down, completely and utterly.
He couldn’t win.
There was just no way he could win.
But hey... their intimate life is very harmonious, though.
