Chapter 314: Maybe Just Drink More Warm Water?
So what if it’s just a period? How did it end up with the police showing up at the door?
Lin Yibai felt so small, helpless, and pitiful.
She swore the blood on those sheets wasn’t because of a crime, she definitely didn’t stab or kill anyone!
But normally even during a period, it shouldn’t look that messy, right?
That’s why Lin Yibai repeated herself. She didn’t stab anyone, but maybe she was the one who got stabbed?
Just as she stood there not knowing what to do, the elevator doors opened, and a guy stepped out carrying several large shopping bags.
It was Xia Changyu.
He had no idea what brand Lin Yibai usually used, but that wasn’t a big deal!
As a boyfriend, he had to act fast and be helpful. He ran around to several nearby shops and bought a little bit of every brand of sanitary pads he could find.
By his own guess, it was probably enough for Lin Yibai to change brands every month for a whole year!
And even though he was almost home, Xia Changyu was still happily sending a voice message on his phone, sounding proud and wanting some praise.
"Baiyi, I bought you a ton of stuff... Trust me, there will definitely be one you like!"
SLAP! Lin Yibai smacked her own face.
It’s over. It’s completely over this time.
This guy had fooled around with her so many times and still didn’t know not to speak loudly?
Did he really not know, or was he pretending, the walls in this apartment were so thin!
Could she strangle him now?
Lin Yibai lowered her head, her cheeks burning red with embarrassment.
Xia Changyu turned the corner and finally noticed, why were there so many people standing outside his apartment?
Being cautious by nature, he didn’t trust people just because they were in uniform. After all, fake cops were a real thing these days.
He frowned and walked up quickly, stepping protectively in front of Lin Yibai. He raised his right hand a little to block her behind him and asked firmly, “Who are you?”
One of the officers said, “We’re from Xiatian Police Station. We received a report about a blood-covered blanket and came to check it out after reviewing the security camera footage.”
Don’t underestimate how fast they worked. This was the capital of the province, and nearby was the military zone, with all those added "buffs," of course they moved fast.
Once Xia Changyu confirmed they really were police, he finally relaxed a little.
But just as he let his guard down, a young officer, probably freshgraduate, blurted out.
“At first we thought someone got stabbed! But the girl said she didn’t stab anyone… she just got her period and then someone, uh... stabbed her?”
Before he could finish, his senior officer already looked panicked. What are you even saying?!
Someone needs to explain, what the heck does ‘got her period and then got stabbed’ even mean? That sounds completely inappropriate!
Lin Yibai had already covered her face in shame.
And Xia Changyu? He was totally embarrassed too.
He really wanted to shout, ‘I’m not a pervert, I swear!’
How was he supposed to know Lin Yibai got her period last night? It came suddenly, and there was a lot of it.
But come to think of it, as her boyfriend, shouldn’t he know her cycle? Maybe he really did mess up.
Thankfully, the police didn’t stay long and soon left.
Lin Yibai and Xia Changyu quietly went back inside.
The room had already been cleaned up. A brand-new set of bed sheets and blankets were neatly laid out.
Xia Changyu saw this and couldn’t help but smile. He had thought that after everything that happened, Lin Yibai would be feeling sad and upset, and he would have to clean up the mess himself, which would’ve been totally understandable.
But she didn’t act spoiled at all. She changed what needed changing, threw away what needed throwing away.
After all, life isn’t just about a little period blood. It’s about starting the day with a good mood, right?
Lin Yibai randomly grabbed a pack of pads and went into the bathroom. Before long, she was sweating all over.
She thought it would be simple, just stick it on, and that’s it. And because one side of the pad is sticky, she did exactly what she believed was correct.
But after pulling her underwear back up, something felt strange. Like the underwear was twisted or sitting in the wrong place.
It felt so off that she paused for a long time, finally realizing she might have used the pad the wrong way.
Maybe she had stayed in the bathroom too long. Or maybe Xia Changyu got worried and called out from outside.
“Baiyi, why is it taking so long? Are you feeling unwell?”
Lin Yibai, embarrassed and not sure how to explain, replied softly, “No.”
Xia Changyu got more curious. “Then what’s going on?”
Lin Yibai took a deep breath, and with a "zzzzzz" sound, she pulled the pad off.
Good news: no hair, no pain.
Bad news: that pad was now useless.
Thinking it through, she quickly figured out the right way to use it. Stick it onto the underwear, not directly on herself.
Since someone outside was rushing her, she got annoyed and shouted, “Why do you ask so many questions? Don’t ask about women’s stuff, okay?”
Creaaak~
The bathroom door finally opened.
Lin Yibai came out like nothing had happened, calm and normal.
Xia Changyu helped her ask for leave. He had also decided to take the day off and stay home just to look after her.
The apartment wasn’t big and didn’t have many seats. Lin Yibai sat on the single couch, and Xia Changyu didn’t want to sit far away on a plastic chair, so he sat on the edge of the bed.
They looked at each other. Neither of them said anything at first.
Maybe trying to break the awkward silence, they both spoke at the same time.
Lin Yibai: “Sorry… I didn’t tell you I got my period, and it turned into a mess.”
Xia Changyu: “I’m sorry… I didn’t know your cycle. As your boyfriend, I kind of messed up.”
They both rushed to speak, trying to make things less awkward. Lin Yibai raised an eyebrow, was this some kind of shared connection?
Not wanting the silence to return, she decided to start a new topic. She asked quietly, “You… I mean, you don’t think this is unlucky or gross, right?”
Xia Changyu quickly waved his hand. “What? No way! How could I think that? If you think about it, this is part of life. It’s the beginning of new life, a kind of song of life!”
Lin Yibai couldn’t help but laugh, “Haha~”
Wow, he really made a period sound sacred!
Still, she had to admit, guys who say sweet things really do make you feel better.
Lin Yibai accepted his care and said, “Then I’ll leave today in your hands!”
Xia Changyu said, “Let’s start with some warm water!”
Lin Yibai: “Okay.”
Xia Changyu smiled, “Huh? You’re not mad? I thought girls hate it when guys tell them to drink warm water. I saw a bunch of short videos saying so.”
Lin Yibai said, “Drinking more hot water is actually a good and helpful thing. Why would I get mad at something that’s right?”
So, what should you do when your period comes?
Start with a cup of warm water, of course.
