Chapter 108: Going Out on an Unlucky Day
“Brother Long, you came pretty early.”
When Long Xing pushed open the door to the club activity room, a few of his friends greeted him with smiles.
Wang Yu put down the dumbbell in his hand and nodded at him expressionlessly.
“I just went back to the dorm to change clothes and came here.”
Long Xing walked over to the bench nearby, hesitated for a moment, then looked down at the bag in his hand. After a short pause, he took out a thermos filled with water and placed it on the bench.
As a grown man, using a pink item in public really did feel awkward.
Ever since An Han gave him this thermos, he only dared to use it in the dorm. But there, it was just a regular cup. Only when he took it outside could it serve its real purpose.
He kept a straight face, trying to hide his embarrassment.
“Long Xing, why hasn’t An Han been coming lately?” Wang Yu walked up beside him, wiping sweat from his neck with a towel. “When he’s busy, he’s always hanging around here, but when he’s free, he just disappears.”
“Him? He’s preparing for the sports meet.”
Leaning forward with his elbows on his knees, Long Xing looked at the club members who were working out.
“Is that so?” Wang Yu nodded, then his gaze landed on the thermos next to Long Xing. “Your cup looks kind of girly.”
If Wang Yu had said it in a joking tone, Long Xing could’ve laughed and replied. But since he said it so calmly, it only made Long Xing even more embarrassed.
He scratched his head and instinctively turned his body to block Wang Yu’s view of the thermos.
“I—it was a gift from the girl I like,” he said, using the excuse he’d already prepared.
“Oh.”
“You don’t believe me?” Long Xing asked nervously, overly sensitive to his reaction.
Wang Yu looked a little surprised. “I didn’t say that. But wow, you actually like someone? I thought your brain was just full of muscles.”
“I… I guess I do.” Long Xing stammered.
“Then hurry up and chase her before someone else does, or you’ll regret it.”
I’d like to chase her too! But how am I supposed to go after a male roommate?
If I really did, what would Chen Junjie and Wang Sheng think of me?
Besides, Xiao Han doesn’t seem interested in me at all. If I try to pursue him, we might not even stay friends.
A conflicted look crossed his face, and he let out a quiet sigh.
“What’s wrong? Complicated situation?”
“Yeah.” Long Xing’s eyes instinctively drifted to the thermos beside him, as if he could see that slender, soft-looking person sitting right there, smiling gently at him.
His expression softened without realizing it, and even his tone grew more cheerful. “I’ll just see how things go for now.”
Wang Yu nodded, not asking more. He was about to stand up and leave when he suddenly noticed the door of the club room crack open slightly, through the gap, a pair of big eyes were secretly peeking inside.
“An Han?”
Long Xing immediately turned his head, eyes lighting up as he stood in surprise. Then, realizing he’d reacted too strongly, he quickly composed himself and casually walked over to the treadmill, just to let An Han see how seriously he worked out.
He’d heard that serious men looked the most handsome.
“I need to talk to you,” An Han finally pushed open the door and called to Wang Yu. “Come out for a moment.”
He had actually arrived at the activity room just a few minutes after Long Xing. His original plan was to secretly watch and enjoy Long Xing’s embarrassed face when others teased him about the pink thermos, but he hadn’t expected to get caught so quickly.
“I knew it. You wouldn’t come here for no reason,” Wang Yu said, hanging his towel to the side.
Long Xing sharply turned his head to look at them. He felt that when Wang Yu talked to An Han, his usual cold tone seemed to carry a bit more emotion this time.
“It’s just… something came up, that’s all…”
Feeling guilty, An Han stepped back a few paces.
It had been several days since that incident with Wang Yu at the hotel, and by now, most of the awkwardness had faded with time.
When Wang Yu came out into the hallway and looked at him with a confused expression, An Han carefully began to explain what he wanted.
“Do you know anyone in the Student Council who’s in charge of evening roll call?”
He himself had no connection with the Student Council, and after thinking about it, the only person he knew who might have some ties with them was Wang Yu, since he was the president of two clubs and often had to work with the Student Council when organizing events or competitions.
“What do you want them for?”
“I was thinking… maybe they could help me tick my name off during roll call?”
“You’re going out tonight?” Wang Yu frowned slightly. “Fine, I’ll tell them for you.”
“Not just tonight… I mean from now on, every night…”
An Han knew his request was a bit much. His cheeks flushed slightly, and he nervously watched Wang Yu’s expression, afraid he’d say no.
But after hearing that last part, Wang Yu turned around almost immediately and started to walk away.
“Hey! Don’t go!” An Han quickly grabbed his sleeve.
“You always come to me with impossible requests!”
“I wouldn’t ask if I had any other choice! I just want to live off campus!”
“What, you can’t stand the dorm anymore?”
“Not really… It’s just that other people also live outside, right?”
“They either have permission from their counselor or they sneak out after roll call every night.”
If he had to sneak out after roll call, that would still mean spending time with Long Xing every day, exactly what he wanted to avoid.
It seemed Wang Yu really had no way to help him. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have walked off without hesitation. Even though Wang Yu’s favorability toward him was over sixty points…
So the only option left was to wait until after the sports meet and then ask the counselor directly?
Feeling a headache coming on, An Han pinched the bridge of his nose, only to notice that Wang Yu was still standing there, leaning against the wall, showing no intention of going back inside.
He blinked and asked, “What is it?”
With his arms crossed, Wang Yu spoke in a calm tone and cold expression, “Long Xing likes someone.”
“Oh?”
An Han didn’t bother guessing which girl Long Xing might have fallen for, nor did he feel happy about it. After all, the person Wang Yu was talking about was most likely him.
“Do you know?”
Can’t believe this guy’s gossiping now. He always looked so serious before.
“How should I know?”
“The one who gave him that thermos, don’t you know who it is?”
“I…” An Han suddenly realized what he meant. His body tensed up, and he quickly shook his head, looking cautious. “I don’t know.”
Please don’t go and ask Wang Sheng! If you do…
“Then I’ll go ask Wang Sheng,” Wang Yu muttered, reaching to push open the club room door. But just as he stepped forward, An Han grabbed his sleeve again with a helpless expression.
Wang Yu turned around, confused, and saw An Han forcing a bitter smile. “I gave it to him… Brother Long was probably just joking with you.”
Wang Yu stared blankly at his delicate face for a moment, then nodded thoughtfully. “Got it.”
Don’t look at me like that!
You’re making me nervous!
An Han quickly changed the subject. “I’ll get going now, I still have to prepare for the sports meet.”
Looking like he was afraid Wang Yu might drag him into a workout session, he jogged off, disappearing down the hall.
I shouldn’t have come to find Wang Yu today!
Should’ve checked the calendar before going out. It’s clearly an unlucky day!
