Chapter 138: Recharging Magic

Except for the last time when she had to beg Wang Yu to join the team and help organize the competition, An Han had almost never acted this humble before.

Like a little shadow, she followed closely behind Ren Chi, taking quick little steps while trying hard to think of a way to convince him to let her live off-campus.

Should she do the same thing as last time, use the chest wrap trick to raise his favorability?

But that time with Wang Yu was different. His favorability was very low, so there was still room to play around and control the situation. Ren Chi’s favorability, however, was already very high. If she used the chest wrap again, things might spiral out of control.

Her reason for wanting to move out was actually quite reasonable, but saying in front of a teacher that she was worried her dormmates might have “wrong thoughts” about her just sounded weird. It wasn’t something she could easily say out loud.

So she could only follow Ren Chi pitifully, buy lunch together with him, and then sit across from him in the cafeteria. While eating, she looked at him with bright, hopeful eyes, full of expectation.

After being stared at like that for more than ten minutes, Ren Chi finally lost his patience.

“What exactly do you want?” he asked, looking up at her.

His face showed a calm, professional look, but as he secretly sized her up, his thoughts began to wander.

This student... is getting more and more dangerous.

He had already been shocked once before when he saw her wearing makeup and a tight qipao at the comic convention. But now, even though she was dressed simply in black pants and a jacket, still looking like a boy, and without any makeup, she somehow made his heart skip a beat.

That face, innocent and cute, yet with a small beauty mark under her eye that added a touch of allure. Her face had that mix of purity and charm that always drew a man’s gaze.

“Brother~ Ren~” An Han spoke in a deliberately sweet and spoiled tone. “I want to live outside~”

“Reason,” Ren Chi replied flatly.

“Uh... it’s not convenient to wear girl’s clothes in the dorm?”

After all, cross-dressing wasn’t exactly a secret between them anymore.

Ren Chi froze for a moment, then shook his head. “No.”

Then... should she just tell the counselor she’s actually a girl?

An Han frowned in frustration. No matter how feminine she looked or how curvy her figure was, the gender on her ID card still said male, and society saw her as male.

She pursed her lips, took a bite of rice, then carefully asked, “Are you worried that I might not be safe outside?”

“Mm.”

“But... I don’t think I’m very safe in the dorm either...”

An Han sighed softly, then after lowering her shame threshold, explained her real reason: “Look at me now, don’t you think it’s dangerous for me to live in a dorm full of guys?”

“Uh...” Ren Chi was stunned by her words, then shook his head. “You’ve lived there for two years already. You should trust your roommates. Don’t act like you have paranoia.”

Of course, An Han wanted to believe in her roommates’ character, but she didn’t trust them when their “favorability” toward her might cloud their judgment.

Like Long Xing. Or Su Peng.

And even if she moved out, it wouldn’t be easy to get away from them. They’d still be in the same school unless she transferred or dropped out entirely.

The real problem was that she had too many secrets. Every extra day she spent in the dorm increased the risk of being found out. That was the real reason she wanted to move out.

System, mind reading!

Damn it! Don’t tell me you’re this hard to deal with!

[Insufficient male hormones…]

Still not enough magic power, huh... I’ve been surrounded by guys every day in the dorm, yet I still haven’t managed to recharge properly.

Ren Chi had already finished his lunch. Without saying anything, he picked up his tray and went to the return area.

An Han lowered her head, quietly thinking about what to do next.

If she had joined the sports meet and Ren Chi’s favorability hadn’t dropped, things probably wouldn’t have become this troublesome.

She sighed softly. “System, how do I restore magic power?”

[Small recovery when touching a man, medium recovery when having close contact with a man, full recovery by receiving a man’s essence once.]

What the hell!? That answer is insane!

I’m not going to the gynecology department!

It seemed that her normal daily contact with her roommates wasn’t enough to make up for the magic she used with the mind-reading ability. But her contact with Su Peng yesterday should’ve counted as “close,” right? Maybe it was just too short?

While thinking, An Han cleaned up the table, then carried the lunches for her roommates and walked around campus.

Looks like I’ll have to use Su Peng as a tool again...

Just as that thought crossed her mind, her steps froze, and she stood still in shock.

Wait—why was the first person she thought of Su Peng!? Why couldn’t it be Long Xing, Chen Junjie, or Wang Sheng!?

System, are you trying to make me fall for him on purpose!?

An Han frowned, walking toward the dorm in frustration.

Her rational mind told her she shouldn’t keep getting involved with Su Peng. But when she thought about it, she had already “lost” to him once. And because of his high favorability toward her, even if they had some close contact again, she probably wouldn’t feel that uncomfortable.

As for the others, just thinking about it made her feel sick, both mentally and physically.

“It’s fine. Su Peng’s not that bright anyway...”

Even though she felt there might be something behind Su Peng’s recent stupid behavior, she didn’t have enough information to figure it out.

“I just need to find a reasonable reason to call Su Peng out. He can’t think it’s a date, and he definitely can’t think I like him.”

“He’s just a tool, that’s all!”

When An Han returned to the dorm, she was still lost in thought. She placed the lunches on Long Xing’s desk, then flopped down onto Wang Sheng’s bed with a worried face.

Long Xing glanced back at her, suppressing his curiosity, and quietly began to eat.

“An Han, you know I don’t eat spicy food!” Chen Junjie complained after opening his lunchbox, seeing it full of chili peppers.

“Then switch with Long Xing,” An Han replied casually, then sighed and lay back, resting her head on the blanket.

Close contact... doesn’t necessarily mean touching, right?

Suddenly, she realized something.

If she sat close to her roommates while playing games or watching TV together, wouldn’t that count as close contact too?

And with three guys around, shouldn’t that restore even more magic than just one Su Peng?

“Wanna watch a movie this afternoon?” An Han perked up, asking quickly, “It’s been a while since we watched one together, right?”

But as soon as she lifted her head, she saw Wang Sheng giving her a strange look.

“It’s fine, I showered last night.”

“It’s not about that...” Wang Sheng quickly turned his head away. As long as he didn’t look, he could pretend she wasn’t lying on his bed.

Long Xing set down his chopsticks for a moment. “Any good movies recently?”

“Even old classics are fine.”

“Too lazy to watch. Watching a movie’s not as fun as gaming,” Chen Junjie said, sniffing because of the spicy food.

“Don’t be such a killjoy!” An Han said excitedly, jumping up and running to the computer to search for a film. “How about a horror movie? We haven’t watched one in forever!”

Chen Junjie muttered under his breath, “You’re the one who always fell asleep first when we watched movies before... now you suddenly wanna watch one?”

“What’s your problem?”
