Chapter 141: Making It Clear
When the movie ended, Wu Dongming, who had joined for fun, was the first to leave. The roommates went back to their computers. Wang Sheng quickly started another game, while Chen Junjie and Long Xing were still talking about the horror movie.
Su Peng and Wu Dongming both left the dorm, but soon after, An Han followed behind.
“Su Peng, I need to talk to you.”
Just as Wu Dongming was about to enter the next dorm, he glanced back and noticed a faint blush on An Han’s face.
Why does it feel like An Han likes Su Peng? And they actually look kind of good together. His best buddy had unknowingly become as pretty as the class beauty… too bad An Han has a stick.
Muttering to himself, he went into his room, while Su Peng stayed on the balcony, smiling softly at An Han.
“What’s up?” he asked.
“That… um…”
An Han suddenly regretted leaving her sanitary pads with Su Peng. Sure, it helped reduce the chance of anyone finding out about her secret, but every time she had to ask him for one, she had to come up with excuses and it was always awkward and embarrassing.
“You want this, right?” Su Peng casually pulled out two pads from his pocket.
An Han froze for a moment, quickly snatched them from his hand, stuffed them into her pocket, and nervously looked around. Luckily, no one else was in the hallway.
She let out a sigh of relief, then glared at him.
“Aren’t you afraid someone might see that?”
“Why are you acting like a thief?” he said calmly.
Her angry expression froze, and she turned her head away to avoid his straightforward gaze.
He’s right… if I keep saying they’re shoe pads, I should act more confident about it.
But… why do I feel like Su Peng knows I’m on my period?
That “shoe pad” excuse is such a weak cover, but he never questioned it, which could mean he never even considered that his classmate of two years might actually be a girl.
Then there was that time he told me not to drink cola, maybe that was just him caring about someone he liked. After all, soda isn’t healthy anyway.
But now… it’s like he already knew what I wanted before I said anything, handing me the pads without a word.
Once or twice could be coincidence. Maybe he’s just clueless or fell into some kind of mental trap. But when it happens again and again… An Han can’t help but feel he knows she’s a girl and that she’s on her period.
But how?
Where did she slip up?
Did this guy… follow her?
Feeling uneasy, An Han decided to test him a little.
“Um, could you get me two more? I’ll need them tonight.”
She could only hide a large pack in her wardrobe, but a few pieces could easily fit in her pocket and since the weather was cold, her jacket pockets could hold quite a few.
“Sure.” Su Peng didn’t even ask why. He turned around and went back into the dorm.
Moments later, he came out empty-handed, reached into his jacket’s inner pocket, and handed her two more pads.
An Han felt like she was doing something illegal, quickly moving closer to block any possible onlookers before hiding the pads away.
“All good now? I was planning to take a nap,” Su Peng said with a smile.
“……”
An Han stared at him silently, then turned away and walked downstairs without saying more.
He didn’t even ask why she needed so many in one day. Sure, it could be because people in love sometimes just do things without thinking, but Su Peng isn’t that kind of person.
This guy isn’t the kind who just obeys everything the person he likes says!
He’s the type who takes the lead. Confident, teasing, and flirty!
An Han let out a small sigh. She could almost be sure now, Su Peng had already found out she was a girl.
No wonder he’d been acting more forward these past few days. Normally, even if his “affection level” had passed 100, he should’ve just been okay with her “being a guy.” After all, in today’s society, no one would openly go around saying they liked another man.
But she still didn’t understand how she had given herself away.
Could it be that Su Peng also had some kind of system?
Or mind-reading? But mind-reading has a side effect, it only works if you spend time with men to gather magic power first.
“So why are you still following me? Didn’t you say you were going to take a nap?”
At the bottom of the dorm building, An Han turned around helplessly and looked at Su Peng, who was still trailing behind her.
Su Peng’s smile was still warm and harmless. “I’m just going to buy some snacks and drinks.”
An Han rolled her eyes and didn’t even bother to hide her annoyance. She walked straight toward the public restroom near the dorm, and without hesitation, stepped into the women’s restroom.
If Su Peng didn’t look confused about her taking sanitary pads and going to the public restroom, then her guess would be confirmed.
While changing her pad, she realized her period was almost over. The flow was very light this time. Just in case, she kept using the pad and decided to check again tomorrow.
When she came out of the restroom, Su Peng was indeed waiting outside. An Han took her time at the sink on purpose, watching him carefully through the mirror’s reflection.
No curiosity, no confusion, no awkward hesitation… nothing.
She sighed heavily. “How did you find out?”
She really couldn’t figure it out…
Su Peng looked slightly surprised, then his smile became even gentler. That smile made An Han want to kick him.
Ever since she learned what kind of person he really was, every time she saw that gentle, harmless smile, she had the urge to kick him right in the face. If it weren’t for that smile, at least she’d still have her first kiss!
“I don’t know either,” Su Peng said, spreading his hands. “Maybe it’s some kind of connection, like my brain just told me you were a girl.”
And later, when she asked him for sanitary pads, that completely confirmed it.
An Han stared at him blankly. “Huh?”
She had thought maybe he figured it out through careful reasoning, or noticed some small clue by accident, but she never expected that explanation.
Could it be a new feature from the system? Or some unknown event triggered when the affection level passed 100?
She forced a weak smile that looked worse than crying. “Fine… just don’t tell anyone, okay?”
“I’m not stupid.”
Yeah, but I am, she thought bitterly.
Since everything was out in the open now, Su Peng finally asked the question that had been bothering him for a long time.
“If you’re a girl, why are you living in the boys’ dorm? And… why did you develop so late? You should probably get checked at a hospital.”
“Because I turned into a girl halfway through,” An Han replied with a blank face.
Su Peng took it as a joke. After checking the time, he asked, “Want to go for a checkup now?”
An Han was about to refuse, but she was also curious about what kind of changes the system had made to her body.
“Don’t you need to make an appointment first?”
“That’s not a problem,” Su Peng said. “I have relatives working at the hospital.”
“What about the money…”
Her budget was tight, she only got 2,000 yuan a month for living expenses, and a detailed gynecological exam would probably cost several hundred.
“I’ll pay for it.”
