Chapter 146: Your Slippers Look Nice
An Han was a little confused. She never thought that asking to live off-campus would actually make Chen Junjie lower his pride. Normally, he should be the happiest one to see her move out, right?
Back when they first entered university, the two of them had already become enemies because of a fight over who got the top bunk.
Later on, even though neither of them mentioned that incident again, they still couldn’t get along. Either Chen Junjie was annoying her, or she was purposely provoking him.
This kind of bickering had become their routine over the past two years. Even though An Han often got so angry she wanted to explode, she never really took it seriously.
When she didn’t answer for a while, Chen Junjie turned back to her and said, “So you really have to move out, huh?! What are you even trying to do?”
“It’s not like I’m moving out because of you,” An Han muttered. “I just made up a random reason.”
“Oh yeah? What reason?”
For some reason, An Han suddenly felt guilty, like she was betraying Chen Junjie, and all her other roommates too. She hesitated for a moment, then replied quietly and nervously,
“You’ve seen what I look like now. It’s really not good for me to keep living in the boys’ dorm.”
Chen Junjie glanced at the pretty “boy” standing in front of him.
“So what? You’re just a crossdresser. It’s not like we’d actually do anything to you.”
Yeah, you wouldn’t. The problem is Su Peng and Long Xing.
Feeling uneasy, An Han quickly tried to come up with an excuse. After a long mental struggle, her face turned red. She didn’t want to reveal that she was actually a girl, but she still had to say something believable.
A moment later, she decided to tell part of the truth, because a half-truth was usually the most convincing.
“You know that girl Brother Long said he fell in love with at first sight? That was actually me, when I was dressed as a girl... So, yeah, it’s kind of awkward living with him. I don’t like guys.”
“So it was you in that outfit... I knew something was off.”
An Han expected him to start teasing her again, but surprisingly, Chen Junjie didn’t. He thought for a second, then said, “Got it. You’re scared of Brother Long, huh?”
“Not scared,” An Han muttered, not even sure what to say anymore.
“Brother Long isn’t gay, you know. Don’t know what you’re so worried about.”
True, normally there’s nothing to be afraid of… She could only smile awkwardly in response.
“I’ve got something to do.”
“Whatever. Not my problem,” Chen Junjie grumbled as he turned and went back into the dorm.
Only then did An Han finally breathe a sigh of relief. She patted her burning cheeks, she had thought she’d take that secret to her grave, but somehow she had just blurted it out.
She could only hope Chen Junjie wouldn’t tease her in the future about “seducing Long Xing while crossdressing.” Then again, if he really did that, Long Xing would probably beat him half to death first.
She had thought the one who’d be the saddest to see her move out would be Long Xing, the one who liked her. Or maybe Wang Sheng, who shared the bunk above her. But no, it turned out to be the guy who argued with her every single day, Chen Junjie.
Scratching her head, An Han stood there for a few seconds before turning to head upstairs.
She wanted to find Wang Yu and ask about the competition.
It was already evening, and the hallway was full of students running around. But every time An Han walked past, people would stop what they were doing and stare at her in surprise.
Before, her looks still had a little bit of a masculine vibe and her figure was flat enough to pass. But now, even though she was wrapped up tightly, those long legs and curved hips couldn’t be hidden at all. Her hair hadn’t been cut in a while either, so she looked exactly like a short-haired girl.
She had thought about buying a loose pair of long pants, but since she was already planning to move out soon, she decided to just leave it for now.
After walking all the way to Wang Yu’s dorm, An Han raised her hand and knocked on the door.
“Who is it?”
The door opened, and inside stood one of Wang Yu’s roommates she had met before.
“Sister-in-law! Come in, come in!”
Sister-in-law?
An Han’s smile froze instantly. Her feet stopped moving, and she didn’t step inside despite the man’s enthusiastic invitation.
“Just call Wang Yu out. I need to talk to him.”
“Wouldn’t it be the same if you came in and said it?”
The guy muttered, about to call for Wang Yu. But before he could, Wang Yu had already appeared behind him, his usual cold, expressionless face in place.
Wang Yu’s eyes went past his roommate and landed on An Han. Almost without thinking, his gaze slid downward, to her bare feet in slippers.
The corner of his mouth twitched ever so slightly. He stepped out of the dorm room and asked flatly, “What is it?”
“I just wanted to ask about the competition. Is there really no chance anymore?”
An Han turned around and walked toward the railing, resting her arms on it as she looked across at the dorm building opposite them.
“Yeah, no chance. We’ve already tried all the sponsors we could.”
Even though it had been a while since Wang Yu last saw her, he never expected An Han to have changed this much.
Before, she still looked somewhat like a guy. A bit feminine, sure, but with traces of masculinity that made him feel slightly uncomfortable.
But now, when he looked at her, it felt no different from facing an actual girl. His first instinct had even been to notice her feet, the way he would subconsciously look at a girl’s prettiest feature.
“You were the one who talked to the sponsors?”
“There are a few people in the club who handle that stuff,” Wang Yu said, talking a little more than usual. “You know my personality, I’m not good at that kind of thing.”
At least you know yourself, An Han thought silently.
When she turned back, she noticed Wang Yu’s eyes were still focused downward. Following his gaze, she realized he was staring at her feet.
“You… what are you staring at my feet for?”
Wang Yu immediately lifted his head, looking straight at her face with a perfectly serious expression.
“Your slippers look nice.”
“…Really?”
An Han blinked, confused. For a second, she almost blurted out “Are you a foot fetishist or something?”, but she managed to swallow the words back.
Impossible. With that icy face, Wang Yu looked way too proper for that.
“I bought them on Taobao. I can send you the link if you want.”
As she lowered her head to check her phone and find the purchase record, she casually asked, “So, when does the competition start?”
“Next Thursday and Friday. The preliminaries start this weekend.”
“Oh~ then I can go cheer you on.”
An Han noticed that Wang Yu seemed to be talking a lot more than usual today.
“So Wang Sheng’s deal is completely canceled then?”
“Yeah.”
[Mission Failed]
It was the first time she had seen that message from the system. She froze for a second, then quickly came back to her senses.
Wait, so missions can actually fail?
She thought they’d just stay incomplete forever, maybe even last years, and she’d still have a chance if some random internet cafe tournament popped up.
She had no idea how the system determined these things anyway. After all, the mission about tricking Boss Wu Dongming into wearing women’s clothes still hadn’t failed.
[Wang Yu’s Favorability +5]
“I sent the link.” An Han stuffed her phone back into her pocket, only to find Wang Yu staring at her slippers again.
What’s wrong with this guy? Does he really find my slippers that interesting?
“Mm, got it,” Wang Yu said.
“Okay then, I’ll get going.”
Afraid he might suddenly drag her off to the gym again, An Han hurried away at a light jog.
But even as she left, something about Wang Yu felt… off today.
Her thoughts kept drifting, Was Wang Yu actually a foot fetishist? Or maybe he’s starting to like me?
But remembering how serious and proper he usually was, she couldn’t help but laugh at herself.
Yeah right. I’ve been harassed by too many weird guys lately, now I see everyone as a pervert.
