Chapter 151: Confession

Su Peng really didn’t expect this...

An Han actually snored and pretty loudly too.

Leaning back in his chair with one leg crossed over the other, Su Peng looked up at the half of An Han’s face that was showing from the upper bunk and let out a helpless sigh.

Even though her squished-up sleeping face looked kind of cute, if she kept snoring like this, wouldn’t that mean he’d have terrible sleep quality if they ever got married one day?

Feeling restless, he stood up and leaned closer to her face.

Her thin cheeks looked a bit round from being pressed against the pillow. Her delicate lips were slightly open, showing a glimpse of white teeth. Her hair was messy, falling across her cheeks, and there were faint dark circles under her eyes.

Unable to resist, Su Peng quietly reached out his hand and lightly pressed her cheek with his fingertip.

Although she looked slim, her face was actually pretty soft and a little chubby. Probably because she’d gained some weight in the past month or two. She used to look even skinnier, like a stick. And honestly, she hadn’t been this pretty before either.

An Han didn’t sleep very properly. At first, her blanket was at least covering her stomach, but now half of it had slipped off the bed and hung over the edge, trapped under her body.

She was lying there completely defenseless, her jacket open, the soft curves of her chest exposed, and her shirt lifted up to her waist, showing her flat stomach and slender waistline.

Su Peng didn’t dare touch anything else, even moving too much felt disrespectful.

A weird thought suddenly popped into his head. She’d probably be great at belly dancing.

Seeing how her shirt was lifted, he carefully reached out and tugged the hem down to cover her stomach again, worried she might catch a cold.

But just as he did, her snoring suddenly stopped. Her long eyelashes trembled, and her eyes snapped open.

Her gaze followed his arm down to her chest, then locked onto his eyes.

“……”

“I was just pulling your shirt down! I didn’t want you to catch a cold!” he blurted out.

“I didn’t even say anything yet, why are you so nervous?”

“I just didn’t want you to misunderstand!”

An Han sat up with an annoyed look, quickly zipped up her jacket, and shot him a wary glance.

“What time is it?”

“You only slept for like ten minutes.”

“Good thing it was just ten minutes.”

Su Peng opened his mouth to explain more, but when he saw her clearly distrustful eyes, he realized that anything he said would only make things worse.

An Han quickly climbed down from the bed, put on her shoes, and turned to head for the balcony.

Damn it, men really are all the same!

A girl’s in the room, and you can’t even control yourself for a minute?

When I had my first love, she even shared the same bed with me and I didn’t touch her once! Not even once! Three times that happened!

There really aren’t many pure-hearted guys like me left in this world!

Even though they eventually broke up and he never even got to have his first kiss, thinking back on it still made An Han both proud and regretful. And right now, that regret was stronger than ever.

If I had known I’d end up as a girl, I should’ve at least lost my virginity first…

Moving quickly, she climbed over the balcony railing and crossed into her own dorm’s balcony. She wasn’t thinking about danger at all, she just wanted to get away from that perverted Su Peng.

By the time Su Peng stepped onto the balcony, he realized she had already crossed to the next one.

“You’re not afraid of falling?”

“What’s there to be afraid of?” she shot back.

If I keep staying with him, he’ll really eat me up one day!

The balcony door wasn’t locked, so An Han went straight into her dorm through the balcony. Before leaving, though, she turned around and glanced back at the gaze that had been on her the whole time.

His eyes actually looked… pretty sincere.

She muttered under her breath, thinking that maybe Su Peng really had just pulled her shirt down to cover her.

But still! That guy was a master at pretending to be clueless. He obviously already knew she was a girl, yet he still acted all innocent.

Later, when they watched horror movies together in the dorm, he pretended to be scared just to take advantage of her!

She couldn’t trust Su Peng. If she did, she’d be walking right into the wolf’s den!

An Han sat down in front of her computer, but barely two minutes later, she heard a sound coming from the balcony. A moment later, Su Peng came in through the back door, carrying a bowl of sliced fruit.

“Aren’t you afraid of falling?” An Han threw his earlier words back at him.

“What’s there to be afraid of?” Su Peng grinned and set the fruit bowl down on her desk. “Have some. I noticed you rarely eat fruit.”

An Han glanced at the fruit plate. “That’s because fruit is too expensive.”

She said that, but honestly, it was mostly because she was lazy. If it weren’t for seeing fruit cups being sold at the supermarket, she could go weeks, even a month, without eating any.

She picked up a piece of apple with a toothpick, popped it into her mouth, yawned, and leaned her chin on one hand. The drowsiness from her nap hadn’t fully faded, and she still looked a bit sleepy.

Su Peng didn’t say anything more. He just sat there quietly, watching her.

“Su Peng.”

“Yeah?”

“How should I tell my family… that I turned into a girl?”

Maybe it was a moment of impulse, or maybe it was because she was a victim of her strange system, but An Han finally asked.

Su Peng froze, scratching his head. He was clearly surprised, but his smile was still calm and reassuring.

“Well, first thing, you’ll need to change your ID card to female, right? Otherwise, it won’t match your school records.”

“And if your family can’t accept it… well, once you graduate, you’ll be able to live on your own anyway. Whether they accept it or not might not matter that much.”

An Han turned to look at him seriously.

“I’m not joking. I really did suddenly turn into a girl, because of some weird system. That system wants to make me a girl, wants me to fall for you, wants me to act more and more like a manipulative girl…”

It even wants to turn me into some rom-com heroine!

Su Peng froze. He quickly tried to make sense of her words.

The word “system” in his mind automatically translated into “things she couldn’t say directly.” Once he interpreted it that way, everything she said made sense.

So, An Han had been hiding her true gender all this time. She must’ve always wanted to live openly as a girl.

And she liked him, but couldn’t accept it because of her gender, or maybe some other reason. She liked the thrill of acting flirtatious, but deep down, she knew it wasn’t right...

After all, the whole “system” thing sounded way too far-fetched.

“Well…” Su Peng wanted to comfort her, but he honestly had no idea what was really going on.

After thinking for a bit, he finally said, “It’s okay. I’ve got money.”

“……”

“At least, my family does,” he added with a smile. “Money can solve most problems, right?”

“You rich idiot!”

An Han rolled her eyes and turned back to the computer screen. But inside, she felt strangely calm, even warm. Not because of the money, but because of his simple, unquestioning trust.

Of course, she knew how crazy her story sounded.

After a moment of silence, An Han sighed softly.

“When I’ve accepted who I am… if you still like me then…”

She couldn’t finish the sentence, not with Su Peng’s intense gaze on her.

So she pretended to focus on what she was doing, but her cheeks kept getting redder and redder.
