Chapter 94: Why Is It You Again!
“Brother Long, I told you to get up earlier.”
Chen Junjie stood outside the convention center with a lifeless look. He stared at the long, winding line in front of them. They’d only been waiting for less than ten minutes, yet he already felt completely drained.
“There are way too many people in line…” he groaned. “And the sun’s blazing! Brother Long, why didn’t you bring an umbrella?”
“What kind of man uses an umbrella?” Long Xing crossed his arms. The tattoos on his arms and his fierce expression made sure no one dared to stand within a meter of him.
Then he suddenly turned to Chen Junjie. “Where’s Xiao Han? I saw him rushing out early this morning.”
“Probably went on a date with his boyfriend?” Whenever it came to An Han, Chen Junjie could never say anything nice.
But when he remembered how cute and playful An Han had been last night, he realized that comment might’ve been too much. He quickly added, “Maybe he went out with Su Peng from the next dorm. I saw Su Peng wasn’t around this morning either.”
“Su Peng, huh…” Long Xing nodded thoughtfully.
Lately, An Han and Su Peng had indeed been spending a lot of time together. An Han even liked to joke around, calling Su Peng his “disciple.”
After waiting for about half an hour, the two of them finally entered the exhibition hall. Their tiredness vanished as soon as they saw all the familiar cosplay characters. Excited, they walked around taking photos of all the girls in costume.
On the main stage, a few popular online dancers were performing the classic dance. Long Xing and Chen Junjie held up their phones to record the whole thing, only putting them down when the show ended and the stage went on break.
Then they wandered around the huge hall again.
When they reached a corner, Chen Junjie looked surprised. “There are Hanfu shops at conventions too?”
“Maybe they also make cosplay costumes?”
Following Chen Junjie’s gaze, Long Xing suddenly spotted a girl standing outside one of the Hanfu booths, dressed in an elegant traditional outfit.
She looked a bit familiar. After staring for a while, he suddenly smacked Chen Junjie on the shoulder. “That’s Lin Yi!”
Chen Junjie staggered from the force, his face twisting in pain. He quickly stepped back and rubbed his shoulder.
“Brother Long, take it easy! So what if it’s Lin Yi? It’s not like she’s An Han.”
The worst thing about hanging out with Long Xing was his habit of smacking people on the shoulder or grabbing their necks whenever he talked. For other guys it might’ve been fine, but with Long Xing’s musclehead strength, Chen Junjie’s small frame just couldn’t handle it.
“How could Xiao Han be here?” Long Xing muttered under his breath, still watching from afar. “But Lin Yi actually looks pretty good in Hanfu.”
“I tried to chase her before,” Chen Junjie said regretfully, “but she already had a boyfriend.”
“I’m not like you,” Long Xing sneered.
Just as he was about to look away, something suddenly caught his eye, another figure stepping out of the booth behind Lin Yi.
Even though the distance was far, something about that person felt strangely familiar.
“Another girl from our class?” he murmured, squinting.
It was a slim girl wearing a short white cheongsam. She looked a bit shy, her hands folded in front of her, head slightly lowered, occasionally tugging at the hem of her skirt. Her long, pale legs stretched gracefully from beneath the short dress, and the high side slit faintly revealed even more beneath.
Her slender waist and soft curves were perfectly outlined by the tight cheongsam, immediately drawing the attention of every man nearby.
Long Xing froze, mouth slightly open.
Seeing his dazed expression, Chen Junjie joked, “I’d lick that girl’s legs until they broke.”
Before he could finish laughing, Long Xing slammed another hand on his shoulder, this time even harder. Chen Junjie felt half his soul leave his body as his face went pale.
“Let’s go take a look.”
Long Xing’s face was turning red with excitement, his blood pumping fast.
I knew it! I’m still a normal guy!
I only liked An Han before because he looked too good in women’s clothes! Look, I’m still attracted to real girls!
That fast heartbeat, the tingling in his fingertips, and the rush of emotion rising from deep inside made him quicken his pace toward the Hanfu shop. He wanted to hear that girl’s voice again, wanted to touch her fingers…
The closer he got, the clearer her slim, delicate figure became. His heart was beating wildly, so fast it felt like it might burst out of his chest.
Maybe the sound of his hurried footsteps gave him away, because the girl lifted her small head and turned toward him.
It was a face beautiful enough to make any country fall. Her cheeks lightly flushed pink, her expression shy and timid. She had an innocent, sweet oval face, yet a small mole under the corner of her eye added a touch of charm.
It was the kind of face that made any man want to protect her, but also made him want to tease her.
But when Long Xing finally saw that face clearly, his heart almost stopped.
That face looked… way too familiar.
He wasn’t sure at first, but when the girl’s expression turned nervous and awkward, with an embarrassed smile showing dimples on both sides of her cheeks, he completely broke inside.
He suddenly realized he must have had some terrible feud with An Han in a past life…
In twenty years, only two girls had ever made his heart race and both of them turned out to be An Han in women’s clothes.
“……”
Standing in front of the stall, An Han forced a small smile at Long Xing, then quietly stepped back. Shame quickly flooded his whole body, and his skin turned bright red.
He didn’t know what to say. Even though he had mentally prepared himself for the chance of running into Long Xing, he still panicked and lowered his head, his legs moving uncontrollably toward the shop.
“An Han?” Lin Yi grabbed his wrist. “Why are you moving so slow?”
“I…”
Seeing An Han’s face so red it looked like it could bleed, Lin Yi glanced toward the nearby crowd.
“Hey, that guy… isn’t he your roommate?” Lin Yi also noticed Long Xing standing frozen in place, and whispered, “He recognized you? That’s weird, I put makeup on you and even gave you a wig.”
“You mean… he didn’t recognize me?”
An Han nervously lifted his eyes and saw Long Xing still standing there, staring straight at his face.
He almost cried in frustration. “Does that look like someone who didn’t recognize me?!”
Lin Yi blinked and said nonsense with a straight face. “Uh… maybe he didn’t?”
Even though An Han knew there was a chance he’d bump into Long Xing at the cosplay event, when it actually happened, he still completely panicked.
And to make things worse, Chen Junjie was walking this way too!
It was one thing for Long Xing to see him dressed as a girl (it had happened before), but not Chen Junjie! Not when he was wearing a short cheongsam dress! If that guy saw him like this, life would be hell afterward!
An Han tugged on Lin Yi’s sleeve desperately, asking for help.
“Then go hide inside!”
“Brother Long!” From the distance, Chen Junjie jogged over, calling out to Long Xing. “Why are you walking so fast?”
An Han froze, quickly turning around to face the shelf and pretend to organize clothes, keeping his head down and not saying a word.
Meanwhile, Long Xing lifted his lifeless face, his eyes full of despair for love itself.
“What’s wrong, bro? Why are you just standing here?”
Chen Junjie glanced at An Han’s back, then leaned in and whispered, “That girl’s chest is small, but damn, her legs are long. If you’re too shy, I can ask for her WeChat for you.”
“No need,” Long Xing said flatly, his voice full of hopelessness.
