Chapter 168: Wanting More Than Just Breakfast
“Mo Ziyang… maybe I should give this card back to you.”
After finishing their meal, Lin Muxi, who was sitting in the car and holding the bank card, suddenly stopped Mo Ziyang who was about to start the engine.
She didn’t know how much money was on this card, but since it was from Mo Ziyang’s family, it definitely wouldn’t be a small amount.
Suddenly getting so much money made Lin Muxi’s little heart feel uneasy.
After all, she hadn’t really done anything, and now she was just taking so much money for free. No matter how she thought about it, it didn’t feel right.
But when Mo Ziyang heard her words, he didn’t think the same way. In fact, he saw right through the little thoughts of this silly girl.
“Why give it back? My parents gave it to you, so just keep it.”
“But… but it’s a lot, right…”
Hearing the cute words of his little wife, Mo Ziyang laughed and reached over to pinch her fair cheeks, not letting go until Lin Muxi made a series of "ee-yah ee-yah" sounds.
“Look at you. Other people think the more money the better. But you? You think too much money is a problem. What, does the money from your husband feel too hot to touch?”
“I… it’s not that.”
Hearing him say that, Lin Muxi froze in the passenger seat. She played with her fingers, eyes darting left and right, lost in thought.
After a while, she asked again, “Then… maybe you can help me keep it safe for now?”
“Enough, I told you to keep it, so just keep it. You hear me? Otherwise, I’ll get angry.”
“…Oh.”
And so, a few days later—
With the release of the college entrance exam results, students finally reached the stage of choosing their preferred universities.
Of course, for most students, facing the online application page was confusing and hard to decide. But for one silly girl who was still half-asleep at home, she probably just wanted to pick whichever one she liked.
After getting up, brushing her teeth, and washing her face, the still-groggy Lin Muxi, wearing a messy little dress, walked into the living room and pounced straight onto Mo Ziyang, who was sitting on the sofa scrolling on his phone.
“Why are you up so early today?”
“Isn’t it time to choose schools…”
Snuggling in his arms, Lin Muxi rubbed her eyes and looked at him with eyes full of expectation.
It was clear that she cared a lot about the two of them applying to the same university together.
But at this time of day, the application system wasn’t even open yet.
Seeing her little face full of excitement, Mo Ziyang couldn’t help but feel both amused and helpless.
He really hadn’t expected that this matter could make the usually sleepy Lin Muxi get up so early.
Lightly tapping her forehead, he said, “It’s not even nine in the morning yet. The system isn’t even open, so how could you apply now?”
Hearing that it was still not even nine, Lin Muxi showed a stunned “Ah?” face and quickly pulled out her phone to check.
And sure enough, when she looked, she was shocked.
She had thought she’d slept until nearly noon, but it turned out it really wasn’t even nine yet.
“So, do you believe me now? Want to go back to sleep a bit more? I’ll make you something tasty.”
“Mm… forget it, I won’t sleep again. Today let me make breakfast for you instead.”
She slowly sat up from her good bro’s chest, still moving with a lazy, sleepy air. Lin Muxi stretched in a big, slow yawn. Her slim waist showed clearly under the thin white nightdress, and Mo Ziyang almost couldn’t help reaching out to pinch her gently.
Just as she was about to get down, Lin Muxi seemed to notice something and suddenly turned her little head. Her clear eyes met Mo Ziyang’s deep ones.
“Mwah—good morning kiss!”
Before Mo Ziyang could figure out what the silly girl was doing, Lin Muxi suddenly kissed his cheek without warning. Her cherry-like lips left a soft, wet mark on his face.
After the kiss she jumped off his lap like a child who had pulled a successful prank, giggling as she ran into the kitchen with quick little steps.
The small living room was left with only Mo Ziyang, frozen on the sofa, still not fully awake.
When did my little wife get this flirty?
In Mo Ziyang’s memory, Lin Muxi was usually a straight-laced, serious girl. He never imagined those words coming from her mouth. Maybe she only said things like that late at night when nobody else was around. Could it be she suddenly woke up to this side of herself?
Curious, Mo Ziyang quietly walked to the kitchen door.
In the small kitchen, Lin Muxi stood in an apron, rinsing rice from the pot at the stove. Her small body looked a little out of place beside the countertop and stove. But Mo Ziyang’s attention went back to the rice she was washing.
Was she really going to give him plain rice porridge with pickled vegetables for breakfast? He had seen Lin Muxi cook before, but he couldn’t believe she would wake up this early just to make him breakfast.
Then Lin Muxi took a slab of pork ribs from the fridge. All doubts vanished.
From just after nine until almost eleven, Mo Ziyang had been in the living room thinking about which majors to choose at Beijing University, while Lin Muxi stayed in the kitchen, watching the ribs simmer in the porridge for him.
Soon, he heard footsteps and turned to see Lin Muxi carrying a small bowl, holding pepper and chopped green onion as she came to the table.
“Already done so fast?” he asked.
“Fast? Do you want to know how long I’ve been working in the kitchen?” she snapped. She was not pleased. Her apron was still on, and she marched toward him, frowning.
Luckily Mo Ziyang reacted fast. He crouched and scooped the angry little cook into his arms in a princess carry.
“Sorry, wife, I was wrong. I just really wanted to eat the breakfast my wife made with love,” he said, trying to be cute.
“What… love breakfast? If you want to eat, eat. Just put me down,” Lin Muxi pouted, but her anger faded quickly in his arms. Her face blushed as she squirmed a little.
“But I don’t only want breakfast,” Mo Ziyang said, and his tone suddenly turned playful and a little naughty. A familiar mischievous smile appeared on his face.
Hearing that, Lin Muxi’s mind filled with shy, uncomfortable memories. Her face went even redder, and she began to struggle more in his arms.
“You! How many days is this now? Can’t you give me a break…?”
