Chapter 174: Head-to-Head Confrontation
“Which book is it? I’ll get it for you.”
The boy standing in front of Lin Muxi was about a head taller than her. He wore glasses, had fair skin, and looked like the type who came from a rich family.
But Lin Muxi’s eyes showed nothing but dislike. The moment he stepped closer, she immediately moved a step back, looking at him with full caution.
Even if she didn’t know much, she could tell from his wrinkled suit and golden-framed glasses that this was probably a so-called “gentle” playboy. A guy who looked proper but was actually rotten inside.
So when he offered to help, Lin Muxi refused without hesitation.
“No need, thank you. I can reach it myself.”
But the boy only thought she was being shy, too embarrassed to accept his help. Ignoring her words, he went ahead, took down the book she had been looking at, flipped through it, and said casually.
“Project Economics and Management? Classmate, are you from the School of Economics and Management?”
“No… I just applied to Beijing University, so I came to take a look.”
Out of politeness, Lin Muxi still gave him a short reply. But that single sentence told him everything, this pretty “fairy” in front of him wasn’t even a student yet, just a soon-to-be freshman.
Wasn’t this just perfect luck?
The boy, who clearly had some background in the school, now saw her as an easy target.
So what if she had a boyfriend? In his mind, it was only a matter of time before he could steal her away.
Thinking this, a crooked smile appeared on his face. His gaze at Lin Muxi turned into that of a hunter looking at prey he could easily catch.
“I see. Actually, I’m part of the Beijing University Student Council. How about I show you around? Or we can add each other on social media. Later, when you come to school, you can always ask me for help.”
As he spoke, he pulled out his phone and opened a QR code, holding it out toward her.
Lin Muxi’s disgust grew stronger. The boy wasn’t even hiding his intentions anymore, and his greedy gaze made her want to slap that pale face of his right then and there.
“Sorry, no need. I’ll walk around with my boyfriend slowly…”
She shook her head and politely refused again, then tried to turn and leave.
But just then, the boy’s next words froze her in shock.
“What’s so good about your boyfriend? He just has money, right? I have money too. I also have several sports cars like his. Why not just be with me instead?”
“You… what did you just say?!”
Lin Muxi spun around in disbelief. She couldn’t imagine anyone being this shameless, saying something so direct and insulting in public.
Seeing her stunned face, the boy dropped his fake politeness and grinned openly.
“I said, why don’t you just be my girlfriend instead? I can give you more money than you can spend every month. Plus, my family has powerful connections.”
“What nonsense are you talking about?! Who would ever like someone like you?”
By now, Lin Muxi had completely seen through his disgusting nature. She never thought that even in a top university like Beijing University, there could still be people who abused their family’s wealth and power to bully others.
After saying that, she decided not to bother with him anymore. She gave him one last look filled with disgust, hugged her book, and prepared to leave.
But the boy, who wasn’t used to being rejected, suddenly reached out and grabbed her thin shoulder hard.
The pain made Lin Muxi cry out.
And yet, the students nearby acted like they had seen this type of thing many times before. None of them stepped in to help. Instead, they just stood around watching, almost as if they were enjoying a show.
Panicking, Lin Muxi struggled to get free, ending up in a tussle with the boy.
But it didn’t last long. In the very next moment, she was suddenly shoved away. Her small body lost balance and fell backward.
Around her were only hard bookshelves and the slippery floor. No matter what she hit, she was bound to get hurt.
But when she closed her eyes as if accepting her fate, the pain she expected didn’t come. Instead, her body fell into someone’s warm embrace.
“Who are you?”
That familiar voice rang in her ear, making Lin Muxi quickly open her eyes. With joy all over her face, she looked at the man who was holding her.
At that moment, all the sadness and anger in her heart finally burst out. She threw herself into her good bro’s arms, her eyes filling with tears.
“Mo… Mo Ziyang, wuwu~”
“What happened? Who bullied you?”
While comforting the little wife in his arms, Mo Ziyang’s face turned dark as he looked at the pale, clean-faced boy in front of him.
Sure, the guy looked decent, but inside he was rotten.
“Just… just him.”
Lin Muxi wiped her tears with her small hand, then pointed at the boy who was still standing there with a careless look.
“Oh? So the boyfriend is here to teach me a lesson?” the boy mocked without any sign of regret.
But this time, something unexpected was about to happen.
“The last guy who dared to touch my fiancée is already eating prison food. Do you also want to try?”
Mo Ziyang was very unhappy looking at this guy. What kind of shameless trash would dare flirt with his little wife while he wasn’t around?
“Heh, prison food? Bro, you don’t really think having a bit of money means you can do whatever you want, right? Let me tell you, in this world it’s not just about strength, but also about background.”
“I’ll give you two minutes. Either kneel and apologize now, or get ready to pack your things and leave.”
Facing this guy who wouldn’t stop talking nonsense in front of him, Mo Ziyang didn’t waste time. He directly called the office of the president of Jing University.
While the boy kept mocking him, sure that Ziyang was bluffing, a few figures quickly arrived at the library. This time, though, the school leaders who came all had a nervous look on their faces.
The boy thought it was because someone reported the fight and the leaders came to check, so he proudly said,
“Haha, you’re done for. Let’s see how the leaders punish you.”
But things didn’t go the way he thought. The leaders completely ignored him, as if he didn’t exist.
“Young Master Mo, what’s going on here?”
Mo Ziyang just gently patted Lin Muxi’s head to comfort her. Then he slowly lifted his head and looked at the boy not far away.
“Whose dog is this? Daring to come into the library and flirt with my girlfriend?”
Hearing that, the leaders’ faces instantly turned pale.
They knew very well that even though Mo Ziyang wasn't a big deal on his own, his parents were very important. His parents were board members of the university, holding almost half of the shares. On top of that, the Mo family had promised to donate millions after hearing their son was coming to Beijing University.
This was exactly the time for them to show their attitude. No one wanted to risk losing that donation.
“You! Which major and which class are you from?”
In almost an instant, the leaders walked straight to the boy and glared at him seriously.
But then…
“Wait, don’t you know who my parents are?”
“Who your parents are? The only thing we know is that you openly harassed the girlfriend of Young Master Mo of the Mo family.”
Young Master Mo? The Mo family of the capital?
The boy froze. Then, realizing what that meant, fear filled his face.
“Mo… he’s the Mo family’s young master…”
Mo Ziyang looked at him with disgust and shook his head.
“Young Master Mo, what do you want us to do with him?”
“What to do? Make him quit school.”
He said it lightly, then prepared to leave with his little wife in his arms.
But as he turned, he heard the boy begging.
“Wait, Young Master Mo, I was wrong, I really was wrong! Please forgive me!”
Mo Ziyang ignored him completely. He only said coldly to the leaders.
“Get me his family’s information.”
He believed his parents would be very glad to deal with someone who dared to flirt with their future daughter-in-law in public.
