Volume 1 Chapter 33: The Time I Almost Defeated My Enemy with One Butt Slam
“Meow, meow!”
Only after Gao Liang nodded in satisfaction did the girl finally stop. Her mouth was still moving unconsciously, as if she was still meowing.
After a while, the girl raised her head with a pitiful look. Her eyes showed mixed emotions. The most obvious one was pleading, but there was something else Gao Liang didn’t notice.
A strong feeling of embarrassment… and a bit of killing intent.
“Now you can take me with you, right? Sob… I want to go home—”
The girl begged softly. Gao Liang nodded, pointed at the book, then walked to the window and waved at her.
“Grab your book. Let’s leave from here. It’s only the second floor, not that high. It’ll be fine.”

The girl picked up the book and walked to the window hesitantly. She looked down, then turned to Gao Liang with a troubled expression.
“Is this really okay?”
“No problem. I’ll show you first!”
As he spoke, Gao Liang climbed onto the window edge, moved along it, found the right angle, and jumped onto the drainpipe.
Then, with a few easy moves, he slid down using the pipe and landed safely on the ground.
Lin Lin was completely stunned by what she saw.

She even wanted to clap for him, until Gao Liang shouted from below.
“Hey, Lin Lin! Throw your book down first, then follow my moves and jump down. It’s not hard!”
“Uh…”
Lin Lin looked down at the ground.

There wasn’t really a reason to gasp from the second floor, but she still felt like she had to.
Th-this… actually feels kind of high.
What if I don’t dare to jump at all?
The girl hesitated for a long time. Seeing how scared she was, Gao Liang also felt troubled.
“Hey, Lin Lin, how about I go find a teacher to help?”
“Th-that…” The girl looked nervously at the dark, old classroom and trembled as she asked downstairs, “How long would that take?”
“At this hour, there probably aren’t many people left at school. It might take about an hour! At least an hour before someone can come help you.”

The girl suddenly felt a cold wind behind her. Her ankle started to itch strangely, almost like someone had grabbed her foot. She quickly turned her head to look around.
That only made her more scared.
“N-no, that won’t work. Gao Liang, c-can you climb back up?”
She asked helplessly from the window.

Gao Liang wiped his sweat. Honestly, he probably couldn’t do that.
“How about you just jump down!” Gao Liang shouted from below. “It’s okay, it’s not high. I’ll catch you!”
“Really?”
Lin Lin felt more and more scared standing there alone. No, she had to leave quickly.
With his promise to catch her, Lin Lin finally gathered her courage. She climbed onto the windowsill and looked carefully.
Well… just like he said, the drainpipe wasn’t far away. As long as she could grab it, she could slide down easily.
Even in the worst case, if she jumped down, the most she would get was a twisted ankle.

still a bit too high.
The girl suddenly felt dizzy. Gao Liang was still shouting from below, encouraging her, “Lin Lin, don’t worry, I’ll catch you!”
The girl looked down at him with his arms open wide. She closed her eyes, nodded, and then… jumped!

With the sound of wind rushing past, the girl completed a graceful little “cat jump.”

she got too nervous and forgot to jump toward the drainpipe.
So, she fell straight down. Gao Liang quickly ran to where he thought she would land, and then—

After a while, Lin Lin crawled out of Gao Liang’s arms, holding her head. There were still tears in her eyes. She wasn’t sure if they were from earlier when she had to meow, or from the fall just now.
There were some bruises on her arms and knees, but no cuts or bleeding.
Phew… thank goodness. That scared me. I thought I was going to fall and become stupid.
Luckily, it seemed she had landed on something, which softened the impact.

“Gao Liang!”
The girl quickly looked down. She realized she was sitting on Gao Liang’s legs, and his arms were tightly around her waist. When he noticed she had realized this, he finally let go.
“Ahem… Lin Lin, c-could you stop sitting on me? It really hurts…”
“Ah, sorry, sorry!”
The girl quickly stood up in embarrassment and helped Gao Liang sit up. He was breathing heavily, clearly hurt from being landed on.
Uh…
Lin Lin stood nearby, feeling a little guilty with her head lowered. When he recovered a bit, she moved closer, shyly checking if he had any injuries. She even wanted to touch him to check, but she stopped herself.
Even though this guy was her rival, and she usually enjoyed seeing him struggle, if he got hurt because of her, she still felt a bit bad.
“Um, Gao Liang… are you okay?”
“Yeah… I’m fine. This little kitten still needs to improve her jumping skills,” Gao Liang said, half laughing and half crying. “Aren’t cats supposed to be good at jumping? I heard they can even fall from twenty floors without problems.”
“I’m not a real cat!”
Lin Lin felt speechless. If it were her, she would already be lying on the ground asking for medical compensation! Yet this guy still had the mood to joke around.
“Well, it’s not really your fault. I heard that if the height is too low, some cats can’t adjust their landing posture in time and might still get hurt. Anyway, let’s call it a night. Lin Lin, I’m heading home.”
“Oh…” Lin Lin nodded. She should go home too.
But before he left, Lin Lin suddenly reached out and grabbed Gao Liang’s arm.
“Um…” The girl lowered her head shyly and asked, “You’ll keep your promise, right? You’ll still tutor me, right?”
“Yeah, probably. But I don’t want to tutor in small classrooms like this anymore. There’s no space, and it feels stuffy. How about we set a time on the weekend and find a better place to study?”
“Ah?” The girl hesitated for a moment but eventually agreed.
Based on what she knew about him now, it was better to agree quickly. Otherwise, he might come up with even tougher conditions later…
“Okay, this weekend then. We’ll decide the place later.”
Gao Liang thought for a moment, then suddenly gave a mischievous smile. He looked at her and raised another condition.
“Of course, tutoring comes with a condition! Until the next tutoring session ends, every time you see me, you have to give me a cute ‘meow,’ okay~”
“What?! Y-you… you’re pushing your luck!”
“Oh? Suddenly I feel like I might be busy this weekend.”
“No, wait! Ugh… I agree. But only if it’s not in front of a crowd. Otherwise people will think we’re… in that kind of relationship.”
“Deal. You cute little kitten~”
Gao Liang smiled warmly at her.
This was nice. He felt like he and Lin Lin were finally becoming friends.
Looks like what the little vampire girl taught him really worked.
