Volume 1 Chapter 38: Bringing a Rival Home
Sitting in the luxury car, Lin Lin looked blankly at Gao Liang, who was in the front passenger seat acting like nothing was strange.
Uh… wait a minute…
Weren’t you supposed to carry the bags? Weren’t you supposed to be the one doing the hard work? She had already sacrificed so much just to see this guy embarrassed, and now it turns out he even has a car!
You even drive when going shopping? Must be nice. Being rich really is great!
Damn it!
Not only that, she somehow ended up sitting next to the creature known as a “younger sister.” Xiao Ye and Lin Lin were both in the back seat, and Xiao Ye kept leaning closer and closer to her, rubbing against her while asking questions nonstop.
“Hey, Sister Lin Lin, how did you and my brother meet? How did you suddenly start dating without any warning?”
“Uh…” Lin Lin awkwardly looked toward Gao Liang in the front. He didn’t turn around, but he made hand signs through the rearview mirror.
Lin Lin followed his gaze to the mirror and tried to understand his signals. Th-this… who could understand that?
After an awkward pause, Lin Lin finally caught on from his intense blinking.
“You never mentioned me before. Just make something up. I’ll remember it later.”
That was probably what he meant.
Lin Lin nodded, then lowered her head and shyly started making up a story.
“Well, we met at school. We were desk mates, so we talked a lot, and then… we naturally started dating.”
Tsk…
After saying that, Lin Lin felt embarrassed and turned her face away, then secretly glared at Gao Liang in the front seat.
When the tutoring is over, she must make him pay her acting fee. Her reputation was on the line here!
“Oh really?”
Xiao Ye spoke with some doubt. “So my brother is actually that easy to win over? Hmm? Doesn’t he always act friendly to everyone, like a ‘central heating’ type, but never takes a relationship further?”
“You’re the ‘central heating’ one.”
Gao Liang leaned against the window and shot back at his sister. Xiao Ye just smiled without replying and continued sticking close to Lin Lin. She leaned to her ear and whispered:
“Sister Lin Lin, how far have you and my brother gone? Held hands? Hugged? Or… kissed?”
“Uh—”
Lin Lin blushed and quickly shook her head. “No, no…”
“No? Then that means…” Xiao Ye showed a mischievous smile, revealing her cute little fangs. “Don’t tell me you’ve already gone even further?”
“No, no, no!” Lin Lin quickly waved her hands. “We… we haven’t done anything yet. Nothing at all!”
“Ahem.”
Gao Liang spoke softly, stopping his sister from asking more questions. “Xiao Ye, you’re scaring Lin Lin.”
“Hmm… fine, I’m just curious.”
For some reason, after her brother interrupted, Xiao Ye finally calmed down. She turned to Lin Lin with an excited look, raised her hand, and quietly cheered her on.
“Sister Lin Lin, you can do it! I support you, go win my brother over soon!”
“Uh…”
Lin Lin hesitated for a moment, then nodded.
“I’ll try?”
Well, after all, being able to control her rival and get some good revenge on this guy had always been one of her life goals.
From this point of view, it suddenly felt like she and this girl actually had the same objective…
Just when the car finally became quiet for a while, Lin Lin got bored and took out her phone. Suddenly, she received a message notification on QQ.
She opened it and saw Gao Liang’s name.
Hiss—
Her mind instantly started imagining all kinds of strange scenarios, like remote control and spying, but when she looked carefully at the message he sent, it was just a simple question.
“Where is your home?”
Lin Lin paused for a moment, then realized—oh right, she hadn’t told Gao Liang her address yet.
The car had only just left the electronics market. If she didn’t say anything soon, the driver might end up taking her straight to Gao Liang’s house instead.
That would be bad!
She first wanted to just send him her location, but then noticed they were only in a temporary chat window with limited functions.
Well, obviously. Who would ever think about adding this guy as a friend? Back then, she even wanted to hack his account and spam inappropriate videos to all his group chats just to embarrass him!
Lin Lin struggled for a while, but in the end, she tearfully accepted his friend request and sent him her address.
Ah…
She tossed her phone onto the seat and covered her face, lost in thought.
One day… she actually added her rival on QQ.
She used to think they would avoid each other forever.
After receiving her message, Gao Liang nodded and spoke to the driver beside him.
“Uncle Wang, let’s go to No. 87 Lihua Road first. We’ll drop my friend off.”
“Okay.”
“Oh ho?”
Hearing this, Xiao Ye showed a surprised expression. She glanced at Lin Lin beside her and gave a playful smile.
Wait!
Lin Lin quickly shook her head. No, no, this little sister must be thinking the wrong thing. Gao Liang has never been to my house before!
Well… he’s about to now.
……………
The car slowly entered Lin Lin’s familiar street and stopped by the roadside. She got out and took her shopping bags from the trunk.
Ah, they were kind of heavy.
At some point, Gao Liang walked up beside her, tapped her shoulder, and said, “Give them to me. I’ll help you carry them. They look heavy.”
Lin Lin paused, then handed the bags to him.
Watching him carry the bags for her, she suddenly felt something hard to explain. There was a strange sense of happiness in her heart. Was it because she was touched? Or was it the satisfaction of finally making this guy do some hard work for her?
Hmm…
She couldn’t figure it out. With a strange expression, she simply muttered, “Follow me.”
Then she led him upstairs to the door of her home.
She knocked on the door, and after a while, dragging footsteps could be heard from inside.
Lin Yu opened the door in slippers, and then…
The first thing he saw was Lin Lin.
And then…
A man?
A man?!
Lin Yu gasped sharply. His eyes widened in shock when he saw a man standing behind Lin Lin holding bags. His lips trembled slightly as he pointed at Gao Liang, unable to speak for a long moment.
“H-h-holy crap?!”
“Why are you just standing there blocking the way? Move aside!”
Lin Lin had expected this reaction and shouted helplessly. Lin Yu finally snapped out of his frozen state and stepped aside with a confused look.
After a long pause, he suddenly seemed to realize something. He turned around and ran toward the kitchen like he had just seen something unbelievable, shouting as he ran:
“Holy crap, Mom! Lin Lin actually brought a man home!”
Lin Lin sighed helplessly, waved to Gao Liang behind her, and walked into the house. She led him to her room, had him put the bags down, and clapped her hands.
Gao Liang still looked a bit uncomfortable. Seeing a guy open the door earlier had clearly surprised him. Now that they were alone, he asked:
“That guy just now… who was he?”
“My younger brother,” Lin Lin said helplessly, then added with some worry, “If I had known, I wouldn’t have brought you inside. You should go quickly, or my parents might ask you to stay for the night!”
“Wouldn’t that… be pretty nice?” Gao Liang said with a mischievous smile.
