Chapter 170: Su Peng’s Hug
An Han’s body was pressed against the wall. Her head instinctively tilted back and hit it, but she didn’t care about the pain at the back of her head. She closed her eyes, fully on guard against Su Peng’s next move.
Su Peng leaned close to her ear. His voice was hoarse and low, and his warm breath brushed against her earlobe, making the faint pink there turn even redder.
“Say it. I’m here.”
The ticklish and warm feeling on her ear made her uncomfortable. But together with Su Peng’s words and the heat surrounding her, a strong sense of safety rose from the emptiness in her heart. Her heart almost melted, and she nearly blurted out the truth about the system.
But she held back the impulse, swallowed hard, her eyelashes trembling as she slowly opened her eyes and turned slightly to look at Su Peng, whose face was now extremely close to hers.
It was the first time she had ever looked so closely at another man.
Su Peng’s skin was quite smooth, without any large or rough pores. The line of his jaw was softer than most men’s but didn’t make him look feminine. His lips were a little thin, trembling slightly now, as if showing how uneasy he was inside.
She took a deep breath. The air was full of his scent. Her body started to react, heating up from the warmth of his body against hers.
“I… it tickles. Can you stop breathing on my ear…” An Han’s voice was soft and timid. She bit her lower lip tightly, trying to keep her reason from being defeated by the feeling.
Su Peng stayed silent. He raised his head but kept holding her in his arms, looking at her face closely.
“It’s illegal, illegal… I’m your master, your master…” An Han was so scared that she closed her eyes again, mumbling the words over and over.
“Forget it.” Su Peng sighed helplessly and let her go. “Am I really that untrustworthy to you?”
“I don’t know who it was that forced a kiss on me last time…”
He paused and explained, “That time, I lost control.”
“You look pretty out of control this time too,” An Han said weakly, leaning against the wall as she spoke.
She couldn’t bear the heat of his gaze at such close range. Within seconds, she lowered her head, unable to resist.
Both of them fell silent. After a long time, An Han finally broke under the pressure and spoke out in frustration.
“Actually, I was possessed by a system! The system forced me to do all those weird things, and in the end, it turned me into a girl! Does that explanation work for you?”
Su Peng looked stunned. He froze for a few seconds before finally letting go of her completely and walking toward the dining table.
As that warm body left her, the sense of safety inside her disappeared instantly, replaced by a strange emptiness. Her eyes unconsciously followed his arms, as if longing for that warmth again.
She had to admit, it felt really nice being held in his arms...
No, it’s an illusion! Just an illusion made by the system!
She repeated that twice in her heart before trying to move. But because of the tension, her legs were weak, barely able to support her.
“Let’s keep eating,” Su Peng said blankly as he sat down again, raising his eyes to watch An Han quietly sneaking toward the private room’s door.
An Han froze, giving him an awkward, guilty smile.
If earlier she was only afraid that Su Peng might kiss her or do something reckless, now she wanted to leave for another reason. She was scared she might actually fall for Su Peng’s gentle warmth.
Too scary…
But Su Peng didn’t mention the system again. It seemed he completely thought she had just made up that story to cover things up.
From the very beginning, she had already explained everything to Wu Dongming, but he didn’t believe her. Now she had told Su Peng as well, and clearly, he didn’t believe her either.
Maybe she should take out one of the system’s reward items and show it to Su Peng to prove it?
But there was no need to let him know about the system. What worried An Han more was that if she did that, either she or Su Peng might turn into a “wolf” in the heat of the moment.
Besides, Su Peng couldn’t do anything about the system anyway. Even if he believed her, with the current level of affection between them, he might actually thank the system for sending him a wife. He probably wouldn’t even care whether An Han was male or female.
An Han sat back down at the dining table, pressed her lips together, and focused on finishing the half piece of steak left on her plate. Su Peng seemed to have calmed down now, so maybe there was nothing to worry about.
She tried to comfort herself, but while chewing her food, she couldn’t help glancing up from time to time, using the corner of her eyes to secretly check Su Peng’s expression. Although his face still looked stern, at least the atmosphere between them was no longer awkward or heated.
After quickly finishing the rest of the steak, An Han stood up eagerly and walked toward the door of the private room. This time, Su Peng had no reason to stop her, but his expression was still stiff, as if he was deep in thought.
When she finally reached the restaurant entrance, the redness on her face slowly faded under the sunlight.
Stretching her arms, she sighed softly, “I really don’t know how to deal with Su Peng’s feelings…”
That stupid system was clearly forcing her to give in, but the more it pushed her, the more she wanted to fight back.
“Damn it!”
“Anyway, this task wasn’t too hard. Su Peng was very self-controlled, and I even got a money reward… I’ll go look for a place tonight and try to move out before Monday.”
Her phone buzzed. She glanced at the lock screen, just another spam message, then shoved the phone back into her pocket.
“Heading back already?” Su Peng asked as he came out of the restaurant, hands in his pockets, walking slowly.
“Yeah.”
He studied her slightly pouty expression, and the explanation she gave earlier flashed through his mind. After a short pause, he asked, “You used to be a guy?”
“Otherwise, why would I live in the boys’ dorm? And why would my ID say male?” An Han answered with a hint of expectation in her tone. “It’s not like we’re living in some old-fashioned era.”
Su Peng nodded, accepting her explanation.
Now he understood, she must have had surgery during the summer break of her second year to become a girl. Maybe she also took some medicine, which caused her body to develop differently afterward.
And judging by her recent behavior, it was clear she liked him but didn’t dare to admit it. Could it be because of some hidden insecurity?
After thinking for a while, Su Peng said softly, “It’s okay. I don’t mind.”
An Han was stunned. She had no idea what kind of story he had made up in his head. But one thing was clear, Su Peng really didn’t care about gender. Even if she were still a guy, he would probably still spar with her like nothing happened.
She didn’t bother explaining further and just sighed. “Let’s go. Time to head back.”
She wondered what form her “unexpected fortune” reward from the system would take this time.
Right now, that was all she was looking forward to.
“I’ll call a car,” Su Peng said wearily. He didn’t feel like driving himself, so while using his phone to book a ride, he brought up another topic. “I remember you said you’re planning to move out?”
“Yeah.”
“Do you want me to help you find a place?”
“I can handle everything myself.”
Looking up at the slightly dazzling sky, An Han’s gaze secretly drifted toward Su Peng’s chest, still remembering what it felt like to be held in his arms earlier.
It had felt safe, comfortable, and warm…
