Chapter 171: Returning to School

“Wake up, we’re here.”

An Han was startled awake as someone shook her shoulder. She rubbed the corner of her eyes, still a little dazed.

She had fallen asleep without realizing it and seemed to have had a strange dream. A dream where she and Su Peng got married…

Still half-asleep, she pushed open the car door and stepped onto the street, yawning and stretching lazily. But then she suddenly came to her senses and turned sharply to look at Su Peng.

The way this guy was looking at her didn’t seem right~

Normally, Su Peng’s eyes were gentle and a bit affectionate. During the steak dinner earlier, his eyes were full of intensity and desire. But now, his gaze carried something else, pity and tenderness.

What on earth is going on in his head?

He didn’t believe in the system, so did he misunderstand my words and think… I had gender surgery?

An Han muttered inwardly but didn’t dare to ask. She took small steps and followed behind him, only to notice that he was looking down at his phone while walking, as if reading something.

She had been with Su Peng long enough to know that he wasn’t the kind of person who used his phone while walking. Even if he received an urgent message, he would usually stop to reply before continuing on.

She quickened her pace and leaned forward a little to peek.

From her distance, she couldn’t see exactly what was on his screen, but judging by the layout of the text, it looked like he was reading a news article.

Su Peng noticed her curiosity and turned to glance at her. “What is it?”

“What are you looking at?”

“I’m trying to find a news story. I read it a long time ago.”

“Huh?”

“It was something like… a couple who had been married for more than ten years but never had kids. Then during a medical check-up, they found out that the wife was actually a man.”

When Su Peng heard An Han say she used to be a boy, that old news story immediately came to his mind. He began to wonder if An Han had discovered her “real” gender during a medical exam and later had surgery during the summer break to fix it.

Of course, he also considered that maybe An Han had just gone through gender reassignment surgery. But he had once taken her to the hospital for a full-body check-up, and nothing unusual had shown up. And the test results show she is 100% female.

Either way, he could accept it.

An Han was completely speechless. That news story sounded way too ridiculous.

Su Peng tested her reaction and asked, “It’s kind of similar to your situation, right?”

“Is it?” An Han blinked in confusion, then quickly lowered her head to hide her dazed look and hurried through the school gate, almost as if she were running away.

Better to just let Su Peng keep guessing!

No matter how crazy his assumptions got, she could just deal with them by staying silent or dodging the question. Given time, he’d come up with some “reasonable” and “acceptable” explanation on his own.

After all, he would never believe in the system’s existence.

An Han immediately decided on this plan and felt much more cheerful. If Su Peng ended up with a headache over it, that was fine by her, it served him right. That’s what you get for touching and hugging me like that!

Once she got back to school, her focus turned to the system reward, the so-called “unexpected fortune.”

She was waiting for that money to arrive so she could rent a decent place off-campus, away from Su Peng. No more getting tangled up with him or worrying about him taking advantage of her.

Without realizing it, her eyes drifted to the ground as she walked, wondering what method the system would use to send her the money.

Since it was called “unexpected fortune,” did that mean she’d find money somewhere?

She never bought lottery tickets or joined any prize events, so winning something was impossible.

But if she really found money on the ground, large amounts would be too risky to keep, and small bills wouldn’t be enough to rent a place anyway.

The amount of money probably wouldn’t be small. After all, this was the second mission, so the reward shouldn’t be too bad.

When passing the large plaza between the dorm buildings, An Han noticed an ongoing CS:GO competition.

From a distance, she could see Wang Sheng and Wang Yu sitting behind their computers. The e-sports club’s stage setup looked pretty nice. There wasn’t a soundproof booth, but the big spliced screen clearly showed every detail of Wang Sheng’s in-game actions.

She had thought this kind of niche game wouldn’t attract much attention, but surprisingly, nearly all the plastic chairs, over a hundred of them, were already taken, and quite a few people were still standing in front of the stage to watch.

Standing on tiptoe, An Han looked at Wang Sheng’s focused, serious face and couldn’t help but sigh softly, “That’s really nice.”

Too bad the mission failed for no reason! The system definitely did that on purpose!

“I heard there are only seven or eight teams in the whole school,” Su Peng said beside her. “Not even as many as a small internet cafe tournament.”

An Han refused to admit defeat. “Some cafe tournaments don’t even have seven or eight teams!”

“There are dozens of teams for Honor of Kings, though.”

She pretended not to hear and continued walking toward the dorms.

Maybe the system decided that the total number of CS:GO teams in the school didn’t meet its “internet cafe tournament” standard, so it marked the mission as failed? But wasn’t that system free to set whatever rules it wanted?

“An Han…” After a short while, Su Peng, who was walking behind her, hesitated as if he wanted to say something.

“What?”

Noticing that Su Peng wasn’t looking at her, An Han followed his line of sight.

In front of a nearby convenience store, Long Xing was standing there, holding a pink thermos cup, staring blankly at her.

An Han instinctively raised her hand to wave hello, but then she caught sight of her own white long sleeves. Lowering her head, she saw her bare legs sticking out from under a short skirt, wrapped in white stockings...

Her eyes then moved to her chest. Normally, it wasn’t that obvious under a jacket, but the tight, high-neck white sweater she was wearing now made her bust stand out clearly. It still wasn’t big, but even from this distance, it was enough for Long Xing to notice.

An Han fell silent, forcing herself to stay calm and act like she didn’t recognize him.

How did I end up walking right to my dorm building without realizing it?! What if I run into another classmate or a roommate head-on?!

She quickly stepped back and hid behind Su Peng’s shadow. “Go to Dorm Building D, the girls’ dorm, and block me from view.”

“Didn’t we already walk past that building?”

“I didn’t realize it at the time…”

When she first went out wearing these women’s clothes, she felt embarrassed and ashamed, but after a while, she almost forgot she was even wearing them.

After all, they were more comfortable and better-fitting than her usual men’s clothes, and she’d been too distracted by other thoughts to notice.

Su Peng chuckled. “You’re really clumsy, huh?”

“Mind your own business.”

You’re not that smart yourself! Still reading random news and trying to guess what’s going on, like you’d ever figure out the system is real!

Annoyed, An Han lightly kicked Su Peng’s leg, then fell silent and obediently followed behind him, using his body to shield her from view.

Normally, she always tried to suppress the system’s effects on her figure, afraid that any slip would make people call her “girly.” But now that she was dressed like a woman, she didn’t bother hiding her feminine gestures anymore.

Even acting a little shy or soft-spoken wouldn’t hurt. If anything, it would probably make guys more excited.

But honestly, it did feel nice to just relax without holding back…

“Did Lin Yi help you with your makeup?” Su Peng asked.

“Yeah. I don’t know how to do makeup, and the clothes are borrowed from her too,” An Han replied quickly, stepping to Su Peng’s other side.

Another classmate had appeared, holding several lunch boxes, probably to bring food to her roommates.

Even though she didn’t know that classmate well, An Han had already been teased as the “class beauty,” so most people in class would probably recognize her right away if they saw her dressed like this.

Her only wish now was simple. As long as rumors about her “cross-dressing” didn’t spread all over school by Monday’s class, she’d be happy enough!
