Chapter 197: Embarrassing

“Eh? Really? You mean after Wang Sheng’s first night out, he looked totally drained?”

“Yeah, seriously! Those dark circles, that pale face. He looked like some fox spirit had sucked out all his energy. Slept for almost a whole day and night, and when he finally got up, his legs were still weak. He could barely walk.”

“That’s terrifying~” An Han clicked her tongue in surprise. “His girlfriend must be really strong!”

She couldn’t imagine what that night must’ve been like, and what on earth Wang Sheng had gone through.

“He took several days to recover,” Chen Junjie continued, shaking his head like an experienced old man. “Young people just don’t know how precious energy is.”

The two of them whispered secretly, afraid that Wang Sheng, who was sitting not far away, might overhear.

An Han really couldn’t picture what scary thing happened to Wang Sheng that night.

She was a little curious, and part of her, from a guy’s mindset, even envied him a bit. Then she immediately regretted it, realizing that after staying pure for twenty years, she’d turned into a girl and would never experience what Wang Sheng did.

Resting her chin on one hand, she looked at the teacher explaining the slides up front, then turned to glance at Su Peng sitting in the last row. That guy was actually knitting something again.

Recently, he’d been bringing out his needle and thread almost every class, before and after lessons.

“What’s he doing this time? Making a gift for someone?” Chen Junjie also turned around and glanced at him. “Which lucky girl is it for?”

“Who knows,” An Han answered casually, opening her textbook and staring at the highlighted sections that she needed to memorize, and immediately felt a headache coming on.

Memorizing things was really not her strength. There used to be a “Guaranteed Pass” reward in the system, but she hadn’t picked it, and now she completely regretted it.

Thinking about it, that ability would’ve been unbeatable. She could pass every test, collect certificates in college, and even ace civil service exams after graduation.

What a loss.

But now that summer vacation was getting closer, what she wanted most was a reward that could make her officially recognized as female.

If only the system could change her family’s memories, make them believe she had always been a girl since birth…

She sighed softly and forced herself to stop daydreaming, trying instead to focus on memorizing her notes for the exam.

After class at noon, An Han didn’t feel hungry. Watching her classmates noisily leave, she picked up her textbook and stood up.

“I’ll go study in the library. You guys go eat first.”

“Wow, so hardworking now,” Chen Junjie commented with his usual sarcastic tone. Long Xing just turned his head, gave her a small nod, and said nothing.

“I should’ve started memorizing earlier when I still had time,” she sighed.

Just as she was about to leave through the back door, she saw Lin Yi sitting on a desk, waving at her.

“An Han~”

“What is it?” she hurried over to Lin Yi, not wanting to seem rude.

Lin Yi now completely treated An Han like another girl. As soon as she came close, Lin Yi hooked an arm around her neck, pressed their cheeks together affectionately, and asked,

“Are you still trying to find a girlfriend for Su Peng?”

“Huh?”

An Han froze, she still wasn’t used to girls being that physically close, and stiffened on the spot, too shocked to care about her discomfort.

“I broke up with my boyfriend yesterday,” Lin Yi said casually. “So now, I might consider Su Peng.”

This girl… really knew how to surprise people.

An Han was so stunned that she didn’t know what to say. If Lin Yi had principles, then breaking up one day and already looking for someone new sure didn’t show it.

But if she didn’t have principles, then at least she had stayed loyal while in a relationship, never tempted by other handsome guys.

“What’s wrong?” Lin Yi asked when she saw An Han’s expression freeze.

“Su Peng already has a girlfriend,” An Han said, shaking her head. “You’re too late.”

Lin Yi looked like she’d expected that. “No wonder he’s been making gloves lately, they’re probably for his girlfriend.”

“Right?”

She leaned closer, studying An Han’s smooth, poreless face, then teased, “Wait, he’s not making them for you, is he?”

“……”

An Han froze for a moment, then quickly reacted, narrowing her eyes suspiciously. “You’re here to gather information, aren’t you?”

“Well, I’m closest to you,” Lin Yi said in a low voice. “Come on, tell me, is his girlfriend pretty? A bunch of girls in our class are waiting for him.”

It was true that many girls liked Su Peng, but over the years, none of them had ever made the first move. It seemed Lin Yi’s friends were all the shy type.

An Han was planning to make up a story, but when she looked at Lin Yi’s pretty face, then at her generous curves, and finally glanced down at herself, she hesitated. Lin Yi’s skin wasn’t quite as smooth as hers, but her looks definitely didn’t lose out at all.

“She’s really beautiful! I saw her from a distance once, from a rich family too, I think she met Su Peng through a blind date.”

An Han pictured the girl from Su Peng’s last blind date and tried her best to describe her.

“Prettier than you?”

“Than me? Yeah… prettier.”

Lin Yi immediately looked cheerful and sighed. “Just my luck. I finally broke up, and Su Peng’s already taken…”

“Anyway, I’m heading to the library,” An Han said quickly, turning away before she slipped up and said too much.

Technically, Su Peng didn’t have a girlfriend yet. Even though she and he were pretty close, sometimes going out together on weekends, neither of them had ever confessed. Honestly, even if Su Peng did confess, An Han probably couldn’t accept it.

She preferred their current “not quite lovers” situation. It felt comfortable, with no emotional pressure and no overly intimate physical contact…

The latter part scared her too much.

Holding her textbook in one arm, she brushed a few strands of hair away from her face with the other and took small, quick steps toward the library. But as she passed a glass window, she suddenly stopped.

She turned slightly, then stepped forward and back again, studying the reflection of the small girl in the glass.

She really did look completely like a girl now. Taller than average, maybe, but with a slim, delicate frame that didn’t feel imposing at all.

Even the way she walked looked gentle and cute, giving her a calm, quiet air. Not as lively as she used to be.

Her playful side only showed when she was around friends. No wonder all the old uncles and aunties liked her so much.

She smiled sweetly at her reflection. Very cute, too bad it was herself.

“An Han.”

She instantly straightened up, flustered for a second, but relaxed when she saw it was Su Peng. Even if he’d just seen her acting a little narcissistic, that was fine.

“Let’s go to the library together,” Su Peng said, walking up quickly. He pulled something out of his pocket, a pair of knitted gloves. “Here, your hands are always red from the cold.”

An Han blinked in surprise, both at the gloves’ ugly design and at how fast he’d finished them. She accepted them, about to say something, when Su Peng hurried ahead.

She jogged to catch up, smiling brightly. “I really like them!”

Su Peng looked embarrassed and didn’t dare meet her eyes. “They’re too ugly. I was embarrassed to give them to you, it’s shameful.”

He continued, “The gloves I ordered online should arrive in a couple of days. I’ll give you a proper pair then. You can just… do whatever you want with those.”

“Then I’ll wear them every day, just to make you embarrassed!” she said, grinning.
