Chapter 199: Preparation Work

Mom is coming to the school this weekend!

No matter how well she manages to cover things up, her mom will definitely look around the dorm, so she can’t let her find out that she’s actually been living in a rented apartment outside.

There were plenty of other things to worry about, but she had to deal with them one by one.

The sky was already dark as An Han hurried toward the dorm building, with Su Peng following right beside her, still not understanding why she was so nervous.

“My mom can’t know that I live off campus,” An Han explained casually. “She’ll definitely say I’m wasting money.”

“So I need to go back and tidy up my dorm bed, make it look like I still live there.”

Su Peng nodded. “But will she even be okay knowing you’re staying in a male dorm?”

“......”

An Han didn’t know how to answer. She glanced at the dorm building ahead and quickened her pace, walking through the glass door and turning toward the stairs like she used to.

“Hey! Hey, hey!”

A shout came from behind her. “This is the boys’ dorm! Girls can’t go in!”

Her steps froze. She looked around in confusion and faint hope, and then sighed helplessly in her heart.

Right… I was talking about myself.

“Which class are you from? What are you doing running into the boys’ dorm, young lady?”

The dorm supervisor, an older man with a stern face, strode up and grabbed her shoulder, pushing her toward the door. “Out! Out! Who brought you in here?”

“I’m a guy! A guy!” She stumbled a bit as she was pushed out, quickly trying to explain while looking at Su Peng with desperate eyes for help.

Su Peng’s teasing smile disappeared the moment she looked at him. “Sir, she’s a guy.”

“Guy my foot! You think I’m blind just because I’m old?”

The dorm supervisor shoved An Han out the door and shut it firmly behind her. Then he turned back to Su Peng with an angry look. “And you! Bringing girls into the dorm?”

Beep!

The door lock suddenly clicked open, An Han had swiped her student card. She leaned her head inside the door and said, “I’m a guy! Same class as Su Peng! You’ve seen me plenty of times before!”

The man’s face darkened. She didn’t dare argue anymore, forcing a sheepish smile as she backed out and gently closed the door again.

I just moved out not long ago, how does he already not recognize me?

Is it because my chest is too obvious?

She looked down at her chest, which still showed some shape even under the padded jacket, and sighed. Then, peeking through the glass door, she gave Su Peng a meaningful look.

Still, it was fine. After all, she had lived in that building for two years.

Turning away, she left the dorm lobby and walked along the fence to the back of the building.

Her steps stopped as her eyes scanned the area, and soon, she found the weak spot.

Probably to make food deliveries easier at night, part of the fence had been cut open in a hidden corner, just wide enough for a normal-sized guy to squeeze through sideways.

Not long after, Su Peng appeared on the other side of the fence and reminded her, “Be careful.”

“I’ve crawled through here so many times already. What’s there to be careful about?”

An Han grumbled, turning sideways as she lifted one leg over the fence. Half of her body was already inside. “Keep watch for me, don’t let the dorm supervisor catch us.”

“I got it.”

Lowering her head, An Han quickly slipped inside the dorm area. She muttered under her breath, annoyed, “Lived here for two years, and now I have to sneak back in like this.”

“I’m definitely making Ren Chi refund my dorm fee!”

Talking to herself, An Han suddenly realized something serious.

“Wait a second! When my mom comes this weekend, I can’t exactly take her through the fence with me, can I?”

Su Peng comforted her, “The dorm supervisor isn’t that strict on weekends. If you’re lucky, you won’t run into him.”

“Still depends on luck, huh…” An Han frowned as she walked up the stairs, thinking fast. “Then I’ll need you and Brother Long to help me cover up and keep watch.”

“If the dorm supervisor happens to be around when my mom comes, just find some excuse to get him away beforehand.”

“No problem,” Su Peng replied with a small smile.

It had been a while since she came, but the boys’ dorm still felt the same. The slightly stinky stair corners because of the trash bins, the random doodles on the walls, and the lively noises coming from every room.

In such a familiar place, An Han finally relaxed a little.

When she reached her old dorm room, she pushed the door open just like before, only to see Long Xing, wearing nothing but his underwear, stepping in from the balcony.

They made eye contact for a moment. An Han walked in as if nothing had happened, while Long Xing silently backed away and shut himself outside on the balcony.

“Why are you back again?” Chen Junjie, still busy gaming, turned his head for a second to ask. “Planning to move back in?”

“My desk’s a mess, don’t tell me you put all this junk here?” An Han complained as she started cleaning. It hadn’t even been that long, yet her whole desk was now covered in random stuff.

Then she glanced at her bed, neatly made with a purple-pink blanket that was way too flashy. One look, and she knew it was Chen Junjie’s doing.

Her face darkened instantly. “You took my bed!”

“You weren’t coming back,” Chen Junjie said carelessly, crossing his legs. “You don’t seriously plan to sleep here tonight, do you?”

“I haven’t even been gone that long…”

An Han looked around the dorm and noticed Wang Sheng wasn’t there. “Where’s Wang Sheng? In the bathroom?”

“He’s at the library, on a date.”

“On a date? Wasn’t he a homebody before…” she muttered, bending down to clean the empty lower bunk that was now just a wooden frame. She moved off the buckets and basins stacked on it and wiped off the dust with a rag.

Chen Junjie, who had been plotting how to fully claim her bed, froze when he saw her actions. “Wait, you’re really moving back?”

“I’m just making it look like I still live here,” An Han explained simply. “My mom’s coming this weekend, and I don’t want her to know I live off-campus.”

“Ohhh~”

“Don’t mess around when she’s here!” she warned with a sharp glance.

Su Peng entered the dorm carrying a bamboo mat and blanket, quickly helping her make the bed.

Soon, the once-bare lower bunk started to look alive again. But after looking around, An Han still felt something was off.

“It’s missing a pillow,” she murmured, then stood on her toes to grab Long Xing’s pillow from above and placed it on her bed.

But she frowned again, tilting her head as she stared at the setup.

“The blanket’s too thin, and no one uses bamboo mats in this weather,” Su Peng pointed out. “I’ll bring my mattress and blanket over on Friday.”

“Hmm…” An Han looked around at the others’ beds and realized he was right.

Then she warned Chen Junjie again, “Don’t throw random stuff on my bed. I’ll need it this weekend.”

“Got it.”

“Alright, I’m heading out.”

“Not staying for a late-night snack? Grilled fish or barbecue?” Chen Junjie turned and asked. “You might as well leave the induction cooker here, it’s useless if you take it alone. At least we can still use it for hotpot!”

“I’ll bring it back tomorrow. You’re so annoying!”
