Chapter 200: Dream
Her little sister tugged on An Han’s short skirt, looking up with a bright and innocent face.
“Brother, brother, why are you wearing a skirt? I don’t even like wearing one.”
“Brother, you look so pretty~”
“Why did you become a girl?”
“Then should I start calling you sister now?”
Looking into her sister’s eyes, a wave of shame suddenly rushed up inside An Han, flooding her like a crashing wave. Her face burned red and hot, as if her head had turned into a boiling kettle.
“N-no, I…”
She opened her mouth but couldn’t find any words to explain.
“Sister~”
An Han suddenly sat up in bed, clutching her blanket tightly, panic flashing in her eyes as she looked around.
The curtains let in a faint light, golden sunlight barely seeped through, brightening the dim room just a little.
Her face was still hot, her lips slightly open as she breathed unevenly. In her mind, her sister’s innocent smile from the dream kept replaying, and she could almost still hear that crisp “Sister” echoing in her ears.
So embarrassing…
Why do I have to face something this humiliating?!
Even that time I went out in women’s clothes for the first time and ran into Long Xing wasn’t as terrifying as this!
“No way! I can’t wear women’s clothes in front of my family!”
But the mission had already been chosen…
Even if she didn’t want to complete it, in the end, various coincidences would probably force her to wear women’s clothes anyway.
If only I had chosen Mission 1, just reject the family trip. It was simple and the reward was good too.
Even if it led to other scary things later, that would at least be later, not right now, like Mission 2 that makes me face my family dressed as a girl!
Groaning in frustration, An Han buried her head in the blanket, making a muffled sound that didn’t even make sense.
That dream scene will probably really happen! If that’s the case, my image in my sister’s mind will be completely ruined!
“Ahhh!”
After another cry of despair, An Han collapsed weakly against the headboard.
Other than a bit of rebellion back in middle school, she had always been her mother’s obedient and sensible son. Her grades were decent, maybe not “perfect child” level, but good enough to make her mother satisfied.
But now… She had become a girl.
Who knew how her mother would react when she saw her now?
Sighing helplessly, An Han reached a slender, pale hand out from the blanket, feeling around the nightstand for her phone.
She opened the shopping app with a blank expression and typed in “women’s hoodie,” planning to put together an outfit that didn’t look too feminine.
After all, the system never said she had to wear a skirt. Women’s hoodies weren’t that different from men’s, maybe just cuter colors or patterns, and they usually went with jeans.
But with her current body, women’s jeans were impossible. They were too tight, too form-fitting, and would completely show off her figure.
“Maybe wide-leg pants?” she muttered. “Even if it looks a little weird with a hoodie, it’s still better than wearing a skirt.”
Leaning against the headboard, she bent one knee and kept scrolling, searching for women’s clothes that looked more masculine.
“This one’s not bad… kind of loose. Doesn’t really show off the hips on the model either.”
She murmured as her hand absentmindedly slipped under her shirt to scratch her smooth, soft belly.
“Even if it does show a bit, I can cover it with a hoodie. I’ll just buy one that’s a size larger.”
A hoodie and loose pants, that should work. Then, using the system’s disguise tool to make herself look male again…
That plan wasn’t bad.
Except… using the system’s makeup tool always came with a certain side effect. It made her feel uncomfortably flustered.
If she were at home, she could still use the system’s disguise tool in private. But on a trip, she would definitely run into other men, and that would trigger the tool’s side effects.
After adding the outfit she had just picked to her shopping cart, An Han didn’t buy it yet. Instead, she kept thinking about whether there was another way to deal with the situation.
“Forget it, that’s something to worry about in a few days,” she muttered. “No need to rush.”
But in truth, even if she wore men’s clothes when meeting her family, they would probably still notice something strange, maybe even recognize her gender at a glance.
Wearing slightly androgynous women’s clothes would only help her feel less embarrassed in front of them.
If her little sister called her “big sister” while tugging on her pants, that would still be better than being called that while pulling on her skirt, right?
Letting out a lifeless sigh, An Han rubbed her eyes and got out of bed. She went to the small bathroom, looked at her messy hair in the mirror, ran her fingers through it a few times, then wet her fingers and pressed down the sticking-up strands.
“My hair’s getting longer again.”
Before seeing her family, she definitely had to get it trimmed. Otherwise, her mother would scold her for looking like a bird’s nest. Though by then, her mother’s attention would probably be more focused on her gender anyway.
After washing up and using the toilet, An Han stepped out, put on her underwear and her usual men’s outfit for going out, then slipped on those ugly gloves.
She had napped for an hour at noon, it was about time for class now.
…………………………
By the time she reached the classroom, all traces of sleepiness were gone.
This time, An Han didn’t sit beside her roommates. Instead, she went over to Su Peng’s side. After a quick glance at each other, Su Peng stood up and followed her to a quiet corner where no one was around.
“Your gloves.”
Su Peng took out a pair of gloves wrapped in clear plastic.
“No need, I already have mine.”
An Han rested her face on her arms. Her slightly chubby cheeks squished against her forearms, making her look a little cute, though she didn’t notice that herself.
She sighed softly.
“Still worried about meeting your family?”
“No… I just don’t know how to do my final project for the major class.” An Han scratched her head. “I was planning to work on it in bed at noon, but I fell asleep instead.”
Su Peng put the gloves away and asked, “Want me to help you with it?”
“That’s what I was waiting for~” An Han nodded in satisfaction.
Assignments that could be done at home and submitted later were the easiest. If she still lived in the dorm, she could just carry her laptop and half-finished work around to other dorms, ask for help, and finish it quickly.
She pulled out her phone and noted in her memo that this subject’s project was now Su Peng’s responsibility.
Su Peng leaned over to take a look. “Long Xing and Junjie are helping you too?”
“They each got fifty yuan, but Wang Sheng is the best, he helps for free.”
“Then what are you doing?”
“I still have two projects of my own.”
An Han tilted her head and blinked at him playfully, her long curled lashes fluttering like little fans.
Su Peng froze for a second, then immediately became suspicious. “What are you planning this time?”
“Come shopping with me tonight,” An Han said with a grin. “Online shopping takes at least a day to arrive. If the clothes don’t look good or the size’s wrong, I won’t have time to buy new ones before my mom comes.”
“Then we should just go to a real store, you can try them on.” Su Peng agreed without hesitation. “And I’ll get you a pair of earmuffs while we’re there.”
“Earmuffs?”
“Yeah, the fluffy kind that keep your ears warm.”
Without thinking, he reached out and pinched her earlobe. “Your ears are always red.”
The moment his fingers touched her ear, An Han’s upper body jerked sideways. She leaned sharply away from him.
Su Peng froze, his eyes landing on her now-bright-red face.
“Don’t touch my ears,” she said quickly, her voice small and flustered. “I’m ticklish.”
