Chapter 204: Confession

An Han was tense at first. Memories of getting scolded and spanked for being naughty as a kid suddenly came flooding back, filling her heart with that old, deep fear and respect toward her mother.

She had already prepared herself to be beaten or scolded harshly. But to her surprise, her mother lowered her head and started to cry.

Oh no…

A strong wave of guilt instantly replaced that fear. An Han’s tightly held expression finally crumbled.

Standing in the corner, her shoulders trembled slightly. Her nose stung, her eyes turned red, and tears began to blur her vision.

She tried hard to control herself, her mind racing to find a way out. But everything was a mess.

Broken images flashed wildly in her head. Her scattered thoughts couldn’t form a full sentence. At one moment, she was blaming the system. The next, she was remembering her mother’s sobs from last time. Then, Su Peng’s gentle face appeared, along with a sudden urge to run away.

But she couldn’t run.

Her shaking body slowly calmed down. She knew that unless she completely cut ties with her family, she would have to face this scene sooner or later. It just came earlier than expected, catching her totally off guard.

Her little sister was already stunned. The girl’s wide eyes blinked in confusion as she looked at her brother, now wearing a short skirt, and then at their crying mother. She nervously shuffled a little farther away from the two.

An Han secretly glanced at her sister and sighed softly.

I’d better change back into my own clothes first.

After all, the system’s rule was only to wear girls’ clothes during the two days of the trip. Right now, this was more like judgment day.

Thank goodness she hadn’t styled her hair like a girl today. Otherwise, her mother might have been even more shocked.

A perfectly fine son goes off to college for half a year, and when he comes home, he’s turned into a girl, any parent would be in disbelief.

An Han hurried to the closet, grabbed her male clothes, and ran into the bathroom to change. Once she closed the door, the familiar urge to just stay locked inside all night crept up again.

That feeling slowed down her movements. Because of her nerves, every motion became extra careful, she tried not to make even the slightest noise.

At a time like this, the system should show up… right?

Her head was spinning so badly she couldn’t think clearly about what to do next. But the system usually offered her three choices.

As she instinctively called for help, a few lines of text appeared before her eyes.

[Option 1: Run away and start a new life. Reward: Financial freedom.]

An Han almost clicked it without thinking.

But as soon as the thought came up, her heart felt like it was crushed by a heavy stone. Every beat hurt like a spasm, and the tears she had been holding back finally spilled down her face, dripping from her chin.

But… this mission was just pure escape.

She had been a man for twenty years. Maybe not a great one, but at least she should know how to face things.

[Option 2: Admit to having a crossdressing hobby and hide your real gender. Reward: Advanced Makeup Skill.]

The skill sounded useful, it could help her disguise her gender. Professional makeup artists could make a man look like a woman, or the other way around. Advanced skill should be able to do the same.

[Option 3: Tell your mother that you’ve become female. Reward: Random Attribute Point.]

Three choices: run away, face it, or take the middle road.

An Han didn’t want to run away. If she chose to escape now, it would mean running away for the rest of her life. But she also didn’t dare to face it directly, her body was trembling.

She leaned more toward the second option, hoping to ease the tension between her and her mother for now.

Without realizing it, just changing her clothes had taken her five minutes in the bathroom. Her clothes were already changed, it was time to go out.

“Let’s choose the third task…”

Even though it looked like the hardest one, the fact that it was the third option made An Han feel a little relieved. Usually, the third task was the easiest, sometimes it only required saying a single sentence.

She stepped out of the bathroom and glanced quickly at herself in the mirror as she passed by.

Her eyes were red and swollen, her cheeks still streaked with tears.

She was wearing regular men’s clothes, but without a jacket, her shapely figure was still obvious. Her medium-length hairstyle wasn’t feminine, but it gave her a cool, sharp kind of charm.

Maybe long straight black hair would actually suit me, An Han thought briefly before turning toward her mother.

Her mother seemed much calmer now. She wasn’t sobbing anymore, though her face looked tired. She was gently wiping her tears with the tissues her younger daughter had handed her.

An Han walked over softly and sat down beside her mother without saying a word.

The soft mattress didn’t make her feel safe. She just lowered her head, thinking hard about what to say next.

Should I just tell her that her son has become a daughter?

Her lips trembled, but the words got stuck in her throat.

At that moment, her mother suddenly raised her head. She looked at the girl beside her, her eyes quickly scanning the curves of her chest, the slim waist, the round hips, and that blushing face, the lowered eyes, the small nose, the pale lips…

Those familiar features had somehow turned into the face of a stranger.

Even in men’s clothes, her son hadn’t turned back into the boy she remembered.

“What happened to you?” her mother asked, confused and heartbroken.

An Han bit her lower lip, her cheeks growing redder. She gathered her courage and tried to ignore her little sister nearby.

“Mom… I’m a girl now…”

Once the first sentence came out, the rest flowed more easily.

“If you don’t believe me, I can… undress and let you check.”

“I…”

She avoided her mother’s shocked eyes. “Around the end of September, I started noticing I was becoming more and more like a girl.”

The more she talked, the stronger her emotions became. It didn’t even feel like she was explaining anymore. It felt like she was finally pouring out all the pain and confusion she had been holding in for months.

Without realizing it, the pressure she’d kept inside turned into tears. Her voice broke as she sobbed uncontrollably, tears blurring her vision.

“My body started changing like a girl’s… even my mind… and then I got my period. Later, I completely became a girl.”

“Guys started showing interest in me… I couldn’t stay in the dorm anymore. My roommates noticed something was off. I didn’t dare tell anyone… not even you…”

She covered her face with her hands, trying to wipe the tears away, she didn’t want to cry in front of her family. But the more she wiped, the more they fell, unstoppable.

A tissue box appeared beside her legs. She looked up instinctively and saw her little sister giving her a shy, comforting smile.

Then a warm hand gently pressed down on her head. Before she could react, her mother pulled her into a hug.

“It’s okay, it’s okay… I understand now.”

“It must have been so hard for you, hasn’t it?”

An Han’s body froze for a moment, and then she broke down completely, crying even harder.

Her mother softly stroked her hair and pressed her cheek against An Han’s ear. She could tell right away, her own child wasn’t lying.
