Chapter 218: Exam
“Yo~ isn’t this our class’s golden couple!”
Before they even entered the classroom, Chen Junjie, smoking in the hallway, came over teasingly. “Hey, you two aren’t really together, are you? I haven’t heard you deny it.”
“I don’t even know how many times I’ve explained. Every time you just call it an excuse, right?” An Han rolled her eyes at him. “Smoking in the teaching building, aren’t you afraid of getting caught?”
“Afraid of what! Hey, Su Peng, want a smoke?”
Su Peng reflexively reached out, but then caught sight of An Han’s face out of the corner of his eye. His hand froze in mid-air.
Chen Junjie laughed and shoved the cigarette into his hand, then pulled out a lighter. “We’ve got like ten minutes before the exam. Let’s have a smoke and chat first, bro.”
He leaned closer and added, “Later we’ll sit closer. How about I copy your answers?”
Just as he was about to light the cigarette for Su Peng, An Han interrupted sharply. “Since when are you two ‘bros’?”
“Eh! Being bros isn’t something you just say. I always feel it in my heart, okay?” Chen Junjie said, a little annoyed. Then he handed a cigarette to An Han. “Want one?”
“Forget it.”
“It’s not like you don’t know how to smoke.”
An Han ignored him and turned to walk into the classroom.
“Bro, about the answers—”
Su Peng didn’t wait for Chen Junjie to finish. He put the cigarette down and followed An Han inside.
She’s not going to be mad, right?
He sat nervously next to her, only to feel her foot kick his calf in annoyance.
So she is mad!
Su Peng stiffened, immediately thinking about how to apologize sincerely. An Han, expressionless, slightly squinted her eyes and leaned on the desk.
Honestly, Su Peng’s careful, worried look was kind of cute~
And it showed he cared about her.
She got a bit playful, muttering with a slightly annoyed tone, “I told you not to smoke…”
“Junjie handed it to me… I just reached for it for a second and didn’t even smoke. I left it on the windowsill.”
“Oh.”
Su Peng’s little heart skipped a beat at An Han’s sigh. “Okay, okay, next time if anyone hands me a cigarette, I won’t take it.”
“I’m not even anyone to you. Why listen to me?”
“Mainly because I also think smoking is bad.”
He tried to reason with her firmly, and when he noticed a slight smile on her lips, he finally relaxed.
But An Han still kicked him under the desk. “Move over. We’re not allowed to sit together for the exam.”
“Oh, right.”
Su Peng realized this and awkwardly moved a seat away from her.
According to the exam rules, there must be a gap between them to prevent cheating. Even though most proctors weren’t strict and cheating often happened, the rule still had to be followed.
An Han stayed leaning on the desk, not sleepy at all, smiling at Su Peng.
It felt really nice to be cared about~
Once they had some distance, she could focus on the exam without blushing or getting distracted by how close he was.
Soon, the teacher came in with the exam papers.
The noisy classroom instantly became much quieter. An Han hid behind the student in front of her and whispered to Su Peng, “If I find a question I can’t do, you have to show me.”
“You want to copy too?”
“Just show me!”
Even though Su Peng had tutored her these past couple of weeks, most sessions ended quickly and sloppily.
Whenever they were alone together, some… not very healthy reactions always came up.
………………………
“Finally over! Next, we have to submit assignments, then there’s a written test in the afternoon. By Wednesday afternoon, we can go home!”
Stepping out of the classroom, An Han stretched lazily, feeling cheerful, and smiled at Su Peng beside her. “I booked a ticket for Wednesday evening. After the exam, we’ll leave straight away.”
“So soon? Aren’t you having a dorm gathering tonight?”
“My mom insists I go home early. I shouldn’t have told her the holiday schedule.”
Walking through the corridor with light, happy steps, An Han’s smile slowly faded.
It should feel good being close to vacation, but just thinking about being apart from Su Peng for a whole month made her mood drop.
Cheer up!
She quickly slapped her cheeks.
After all, she’s still a guy! Feeling sad just because of being apart from another guy, what is that?
When An Han looked up, she noticed Su Peng also seemed a little down.
But he quickly smiled. “Don’t forget your skincare during winter break. Look at your face, it’s so dry.”
“I know.”
“Take care in the cold, don’t let your hands get frostbite and swell like radishes.”
“I’m fine.”
Their conversation was overheard by passing classmates. Curious, they glanced over, not shocked, but with a little interest in the “couple” in front of them.
An Han quickly glared at Su Peng and explained to the classmate, “He and I are not that kind of relationship.”
“I know, everyone knows,” the classmate said with a meaningful expression.
The rumor that these two are dating was almost common knowledge.
From the classmates’ perspective, it looked like two men in a relationship. People talked privately, but both of them were well-liked in class, and outwardly they looked like a boy and a girl, so it didn’t feel awkward.
The handsome guy and the “fake girl” pairing even made a few of the girls in class realize they were into BL.
“It’s impossible to explain,” An Han complained, staring at the classmate’s back. “The more I explain, the more annoying it is. It’s all your fault for listening to Kexin’s nonsense!”
Despite complaining, she actually felt a little secret joy at being mistaken for Su Peng’s girlfriend.
“If I tell Kexin I like you, it basically means I’m gay, right?” Su Peng said, looking completely justified. “Who knew she would take it seriously?”
“Heh.”
An Han didn’t believe his excuse for a second. This guy was definitely doing it on purpose.
The second exam was just submitting an assignment. The class monitor, An Kexin, copied the assignments to the teacher’s USB drive. Everyone checked that their work was complete, then punched out, and they were done.
Walking into the classroom, signing out, and leaving. It only took An Han ten minutes in total.
“It’s just a little past ten.” She checked the time. From now until the written test at two in the afternoon, there wasn’t much to do.
She stood at the end of the corridor, arms resting on the railing, looking at the large lawn below.
Not long after, Su Peng finished signing out and came to her side.
The sound of his steps was so familiar that she didn’t even need to turn her head. She asked, “Play duo later?”
“I was thinking of finding a place to walk around…”
“There’s nothing to see. I don’t need to buy anything either.”
Actually, just strolling around casually wouldn’t be bad.
Su Peng just found An Han’s “straightforward thinking” very frustrating.
“Alright, play a game.”
He could only smile bitterly.
Look at Chen Junjie and Wang Sheng, who just started dating. They go back to the dorm late every night, sometimes don’t return at all. Except for classes, they’re basically with their girlfriends.
Why is it that I’m always playing games with An Han?
