Chapter 223: Dragging the little sister Into Trouble
In the afternoon, An Han’s mother knocked on her tightly closed bedroom door.
A moment later, a lazy and slightly sleepy soft voice came from inside. “Whyyy~”
“It’s time to go to your grandpa’s.”
An Han, who had been half-asleep in bed, woke up instantly.
Her heart trembled, her eyes widened, and she quickly hid her head under the blanket again. Using the same sleepy voice as before, she said, “I’m so tired, I didn’t sleep well last night~”
“Mom, Sister went to bed at eleven yesterday.”
Her little sister’s voice came from outside the door, making An Han so angry she wanted to drag her in and pinch her.
“Hurry up, get up now.”
“But I’m so sleepy~”
Just imagining it, several relatives she knew well, sitting around her with serious faces, staring at her, asking her about how she turned into a girl, asking about her love life…
Too scary!
Those relatives knew her pretty well, but after high school and college they contacted each other less and became distant. In their eyes, she was still that slightly naughty little boy.
Just imagining it made An Han want to take a bus straight back to school to escape everything.
Even when facing her mom and sister, she felt like confessing everything honestly, but when facing those relatives, all she wanted to do was run.
She glanced at the window, but it had security bars. The key to the security window was probably with her mother. She couldn’t escape.
“An Han?”
Since there was no sound for a while, her mother knocked again.
Those knocks made her little heart shake several times in fear. In the end, she could only complain pitifully, “I’m really sleepy… can I not go? Let’s go tomorrow~”
“Tomorrow becomes the day after, and the day after becomes another delay!”
Her mother obviously understood her tricks.
“But I really don’t want to go…”
“If you don’t go this time, you’ll have to face dozens of relatives during the New Year gathering…”
“Mom! Aunties and uncles are still okay! But what’s the point of meeting all those relatives I barely even know?”
“Then you…”
“Then I just won’t go to the New Year gathering! Can’t we hide it from them?”
Most of the relatives during New Year were people she had seen before but never even talked to. She didn’t even know how to address most of them.
“If you don’t go during New Year, then you must go this time. Just think of it as visiting your grandpa early.”
If it were only Grandpa, An Han wouldn’t feel the need to escape so badly.
She gave a hopeless response.
If she had known, she would have stayed at school during winter break, or found a part-time job near campus.
With a sigh, An Han got up slowly to change clothes. “Wait a bit, I’m changing.”
The closet was full of women’s clothes, but thankfully there were a few more neutral-looking black jackets and wide-leg pants.
If she dressed more masculine, she would feel more confident in front of the relatives. Just like when she traveled with her mother before.
After dragging things out for a long time, she finally walked out of the bedroom in black clothes and black pants.
Her mother had already grown impatient and was downstairs preparing gifts for Grandpa. Only her little sister was waiting upstairs.
“Sister, why aren’t you wearing a cute dress?”
“If you wear a dress, I’ll wear one.” An Han gave her a side glance.
“Then forget it! Dresses don’t look good on me!”
Nobody knew how her mother raised them, but her little sister’s taste leaned more toward boyish styles. Their mother once tried putting her in a dress, but she made such a fuss that they gave up.
An Han walked down the stairs with her sister, but for some reason, she suddenly had a bad feeling.
As expected, when she appeared in front of her mother, her mother frowned and looked her up and down.
“Why are you dressed like a boy?”
“I…”
“Go change into something prettier. Wearing all black looks awful.”
“This…”
“Don’t you have several skirts? They all look nice.”
An Han’s face turned red as she shook her head. “It’s freezing outside, why would I wear a skirt!”
“Don’t you have fleece-lined leggings?” her mother asked in confusion. “You can wear skirts at school, but you’re suddenly afraid of cold at home?”
Her little sister added fuel to the fire from the side. “Sister! You look pretty in skirts!”
Then why don’t YOU wear one!
An Han grabbed her sister’s arm and pointed at her face while talking to her mother. “She wears it, and I’ll wear it!”
“You’re already this old and still comparing yourself to your little sister,” her mother complained, but her eyes gradually lit up as she looked at the younger girl.
Her sister froze, fearfully stepping back two steps. “I don’t like skirts! I don’t even have skirts!”
“We can go buy some now. The shopping street is right outside,” An Han said, helping stir things up with a “watching the drama” attitude.
She suddenly felt relieved. After being forced so many times, she finally had a chance to drag her sister into trouble too.
Her mother stopped fussing about An Han’s outfit and crouched in front of the little sister, trying her best to persuade her.
“Girls should wear skirts.”
“What’s wrong with skirts? They look pretty.”
“If you wear a skirt, your big sister will wear one with you. Be good~”
“Look, your sister lived as a boy for so long but still wears skirts now.”
Don’t drag me into this!
An Han pursed her lips and watched from the side. She did want to see her sister in a skirt, but she also hoped her sister would resist as strongly as possible.
No one knew why their mother loved skirts so much. Maybe it was because her little sister hated them, so most of the clothes their mother bought earlier were skirts.
Thankfully it was winter. If it were summer, she feared everything would be skirts.
“Alright! An Han, go upstairs and change into a skirt! I’ll take your sister to buy two sets.”
Finally, their mother convinced the little sister. She stood up and looked at the absent-minded An Han.
“Sister should wear a short skirt! And put on some makeup!”
An Han glared at her sister. “Mom, make her wear a short skirt too!”
This girl hadn’t worn a skirt since primary school! And now she’d rather wear girl’s clothes just to drag An Han down with her!
Her sister stuck her tongue out. “Bleh~”
“Let’s go, time to buy clothes!”
Their mother was clearly very satisfied with the outcome. She pulled the younger daughter outside.
“We’ll be back in about half an hour.”
“…Okay.”
An Han let out a hopeless sigh.
At least she successfully delayed the time to meet her relatives.
If she delayed long enough, she would spend less time at Grandpa’s.
“Ughhh~”
She sighed again as she walked upstairs. “What am I going to do later~”
Being surrounded by relatives asking about her love life was already embarrassing enough. Many people had experienced that kind of situation.
But she had just become a girl, and this would be the first time she appeared in front of relatives looking like a girl…
Her remaining “male” mindset simply couldn’t handle openly talking about liking a man.
Even though she knew she liked Su Peng, sometimes she still felt like it was somehow just “two guys together,” all because she hadn’t been a woman for very long.
“I’m so miserable.”
Like a walking corpse, An Han returned to her bedroom. She put on leggings, then shorts, and finally a short skirt.
It was a bit thick, but it was winter after all.
