Chapter 13: That… That Thing
In early August, the summer heat was starting to show. Even though it was still morning, there was already a feeling of dryness and heat in the air.
At times like this, turning on the air conditioner and covering yourself with a blanket feels very comfortable.
Although Mu Le wasn’t using a thick blanket, it was pretty much the same.
She climbed out of bed. Her hair was a bit messy, and she gave a small yawn. After sitting quietly for a while, she finally got up to wash and freshen up.
When she finished and walked into the living room, she happened to see Xiao Yuze cleaning the table.
“Why do you look so tired?” The man put down the dishes and looked at the faint dark circles under her eyes, slightly frowning. “Did you stay up late again?”
“Ha… my dad is coming today. How could I sleep?”
Mu Le yawned again. After washing up, she was already mostly awake.
But when she thought about her father possibly showing up at any time, she couldn’t help but feel nervous… well, more like uneasy.
“Oh right, how about the things I told you to memorize yesterday?”
As she brought this up, Mu Le turned to look at Xiao Yuze.
His mouth twitched. “Do you think your dad is some young girl full of romance? Those love story tricks and lines you showed me are only suitable for teenagers, right?”
Hearing this, Mu Le sat down in her seat and snorted lightly.
“It’s better to be prepared. Who knows, maybe my serious-looking dad is actually secretly romantic?”
Who talks about their own father like that? Xiao Yuze felt speechless.
Of course, even if Mu Le said that, there was no way he would actually read those romance stories she recommended.
Not to mention memorizing some of the scenes!
Do you think this is a romance drama?!
“Stop messing around. Eat first. Later, we’ll call your dad and check what time he’s coming so we can prepare.”
Sighing helplessly, Xiao Yuze rubbed her head firmly, then walked toward the kitchen.
Soon, he brought out a few simple homemade dishes.
Since it was breakfast, the food was light.
Mu Le looked at it for a moment, then showed a slight disappointed expression.
“Don’t look. There’s no meat. And wanting meat early in the morning, don’t you think it’s too heavy?”
To be honest, Xiao Yuze’s breakfast was already quite rich and well-balanced.
But…
Mu Le was a very picky eater and a strong meat lover.
“Humans evolved for thousands of years to reach the top of the food chain. Was it just so we could eat vegetables?” Mu Le took a sip of plain porridge and complained.
Xiao Yuze: “……”
The meal didn’t last long. Although Mu Le was a bit unhappy that most of the dishes were vegetables, she still ate quite a lot.
After the meal, Xiao Yuze looked at the girl sitting there lazily, rubbing her small belly, and couldn’t help but shake his head, not knowing whether to laugh or cry.
Just as he accepted his fate and was about to clean up the dishes, Mu Le suddenly stood up, which was unusual for her.
Then, under his surprised gaze, she stacked the bowls and carried them toward the kitchen.
“What are you staring at? Come help.” Halfway there, Mu Le suddenly turned around, her face slightly red as she spoke.
After all, always letting Xiao Yuze do everything made her feel a bit embarrassed.
Xiao Yuze shrugged, walked to the table, picked up the remaining things, and followed her into the kitchen.
After spending some time cleaning up, the two of them sat on the sofa and finally began thinking about how to get through today’s “test.”
“Aze, what do you think I should say to my dad later so he will believe us?”
Mu Le touched her chin, thinking about a plan.
Hearing this, Xiao Yuze suddenly raised his eyebrows. “If I remember correctly, your dad has a key to this place, right?”
“Huh?” Mu Le looked up, not understanding what he meant. “Yeah, he does. Why—mm?!”
She didn’t finish her sentence, because Xiao Yuze, who had been sitting quietly beside her, suddenly pushed her down onto the sofa.
“Shh.”
Just as Mu Le was about to resist, Xiao Yuze leaned close to her ear. His warm breath made her body stiff.
“Someone came in.”
Huh?
Mu Le froze for a moment, then listened carefully. Sure enough, she heard the sound of the door opening.
Because of the angle between the entrance and the living room, they couldn’t see clearly.
But someone coming in at this time…
“Why didn’t my dad knock?!” Mu Le’s heart started beating faster as she stayed in that awkward position. “And what are you doing?”
“If you want to pass this test, then just listen to me.”
Xiao Yuze took a light breath, then, under Mu Le’s shocked gaze, lowered his head and kissed her.
The feeling on her lips made Mu Le completely freeze in confusion.
W-what is this?!
But that wasn’t all.
After easily parting her lips, Xiao Yuze became even more bold.
Mu Le, who had no experience at all, couldn’t handle it. Even after he finally let her go, she still felt dizzy!
At the same time, not far from them…
A tall man pushed up his gold-rimmed glasses, his sharp eyes narrowing.
His cold face showed no expression, but his once gentle aura now felt as sharp as a blade.
His gaze was too sharp, Xiao Yuze had already noticed him.
Even so, his face remained calm.
He slowly stood up from the sofa, then moved to stand in front of the still-dazed Mu Le, shielding her behind him, before looking at the man.
“…Uncle Mu.”
Mu Cheng took a deep breath, feeling his blood pressure rising.
Looking at the calm young man, his face suddenly darkened. “Are you done kissing?”
As if not expecting that to be his first question, Xiao Yuze paused for two seconds.
Just when Mu Cheng thought he couldn’t answer, the young man suddenly shook his head.
“Of course not.”
Mu Cheng: “……”
I’m going to beat this shameless brat to death!
