[Vol. 8] Chapter 295: A Glimpse That Vanished in an Instant
The concept of "Existence" itself, in a certain sense, is also a kind of rule. Although there is no such thing as a "God of Existence," if the Nameless Demon Lord of the Ancient Spirit Realm had managed to complete her final transformation and truly ascended to godhood in her own way, she would likely have gained control over laws and authority similar to that. So, such a rule should exist.
But then, what exactly are the [Forbidden Words]?
They are a power that overturns rules, the foundation that builds rules themselves. It’s like someone in the past used an absolutely solid, unshakable material to build a tightly sealed fence. This fence cannot be broken by any method, unless you use the same material to make a weapon and strike it.
This is exactly what Violet is doing.
She somehow managed to obtain some of this same "material." But with her current level of study and mastery of the [Forbidden Words], she is still far from being able to do anything truly powerful. However, if it’s just about shaping a small chisel and making a tiny crack in the fence, changing a small insignificant detail that isn’t too difficult.
This kind of change isn’t about creating something out of nothing or twisting right and wrong at will. For example, in Demon Suppression City, Nitila’s pearl had once shattered. Back then, Violet had unintentionally used her own SP as a thread to reconnect and repair it.
The merfolk pearl, as the magic core of the Mingjiao tribe, was one of the most important organs in their whole body. Because of the huge difference in soul strength between them, its essence had already been stained with Violet’s color.
So, in a sense, Nitila could already be considered Violet’s follower. And since she is a follower, a very close bond of cause and effect naturally exists between them. This has now become the foundation for Violet’s current actions.
If the Nameless Demon Lord back then could strip away someone else’s [Existence] and turn it into the [Origin Power] of becoming a god, then why couldn’t the same thing be done in reverse?
What Violet did was simply use the [Forbidden Words] to temporarily modify a critical part of that rule, she turned her own SP into a form that normally should not exist, and used it to fill in the missing part of Nitila’s "Existence." It was just like how she had once used the same method to change the conditions for the "Descent of God."
But even the [Forbidden Words] cannot override the most basic law of all, energy conservation. The stronger and tougher the rule being modified, the more energy is needed to form the "words" themselves. To reverse the essence of "Existence," a single bottle of [Tears of Light] was nowhere near enough. That’s why Violet deliberately added a drop of her own blood.
This act was not only to help Nitila but also an experiment of her own.
The last time she used Sasha's body for a divine descent, it was like making a tiny pinhole in the Great Wall. Then this time it was more like removing several bricks outright. If the defensive mechanism of rules she imagined really existed, then perhaps this time…
"Hm?"
As that thought flashed by, a sudden, strange feeling of being watched struck her heart!
Violet turned her head with a sharp sense of awareness, but all she saw was the clean, spotless white wall of the room. The gaze carried along the chain of cause and effect was extremely well hidden, as if wrapped inside an impenetrable barrier. Violet immediately tried to trace it back to its source, but she found nothing.
The strange feeling came quickly and disappeared just as fast, almost like an illusion gone in an instant. Before the young priestess could do anything more, the unknown gaze had already faded away, leaving only the black-haired girl frowning slightly.
No action taken… so cautious, huh…
The priestess looked a little confused. At Violet’s level, the sense of cause and effect coming from the unknown would never be wrong.
It was like how if someone recited the true name of a god in an unsealed place, the corresponding god would immediately sense it. This was a direct touch of cause and effect. Just now, there was definitely some being that noticed what was happening here, even locking onto her exact position with precision. But that being only took one glance, then pulled back, without doing anything else.
Just the fact that someone could accurately locate her from a distance, without relying on any tools or external power, proved that it could never be some ordinary god. Most likely, it was deeply connected with the so-called [Forbidden Words]. It might even be the very defense mechanism left behind by the “Primordial Light” that she had guessed about before.
If the last time it didn’t notice because she was the first offender and the disturbance was too small, then this time, since it clearly noticed, why did it still not take any action?
Could her guess be wrong? Or maybe this defense mechanism cannot act freely, and needs certain special conditions to be met?
How mysterious…
“Ha! Haa! Hah…”
Just then, the sudden change in breathing beside her caught the priestess’s attention. She pulled her thoughts back and turned her gaze, only to see that the princess had collapsed weakly on the bed, no longer sitting upright as before.
The girl’s whole body was already soaked, as if she had just been pulled out of the water. Her thin, half-transparent dress outlined the beautiful curves of her body and the faint glow of her skin. The blush on her face was slowly fading, and she was still gasping for air. But her lower body had already changed back, from a mermaid’s tail into the normal pair of legs that a merfolk has when on land.
The girl curled up slightly. Her soft, glowing skin seemed to reflect a faint light under the lamp. Her long, smooth legs, white as jade, no longer looked hazy like before. Violet could even clearly see the ten round, delicate toes loosening up in exhaustion, twitching slightly from time to time, so tender and pretty that one might want to hold and play with them in their hand.
Cough… of course, that’s not the main point.
The priestess quickly lifted her gaze and saw that the [Forbidden Words] characters, drawn with the mixture of the princess’s blood and the [Tear of Light], had completely disappeared into the scales on her lower belly. In their place was now a strange golden mark glowing with light.
The shape of the mark was very unusual. It looked a bit like the old “Radiance” mark, but fused with the altered form of the [Forbidden Words]. The eye-shaped sphere in the center was no longer bulky, but smooth and refined, like the pearl inside her body. From its sides, wing-like lines stretched outward.
Although it only had two wings, compared to the “Radiance” god-mark Violet knew of, these wings were longer and more graceful. Without a doubt, this mark was not only equal in power, but also uniquely suited to Nitila herself.
“Ha… has it… already ended?”
The princess finally opened her tired eyes, her gaze hazy and wandering around. Violet, not minding the sticky sweat on her body, reached out to support her up from the bed, smiling as she nodded gently.
“The result looks pretty good. See? I didn’t lie to you. Come on, try it out, see if it feels different compared to before.”
“This… it’s actually real?!”
