Chapter 235: Respect Your Orientation
“Stupid system ruined my youth!”
“If not for the system, I would already have a girlfriend!”
Early in the morning, An Han cursed while brushing her teeth, her voice unclear with the toothbrush in her mouth.
Her eyes were still a little red. Her mood had been bad yesterday, but luckily, after she parted with Lin Yue, the awakened male consciousness inside her slowly got pushed down again and hid back in the deepest part of her heart.
She no longer felt that painful tearing feeling, nor did she feel regret or guilt.
It was still better to focus her energy on the task.
Her father’s affection level had already reached eighty-seven. Around seven points were probably because she obediently went to the blind date.
[Lin Yue: Affection 64]
Almost without thinking, An Han asked the system about Lin Yue’s affection toward her.
It was getting higher and higher.
She frowned. “This can’t continue.”
Before they split up yesterday, the two of them had agreed to go to Walmart today. But today, she planned to skip it.
She didn’t want to hurt the girl that her remaining male consciousness liked.
An Han let out a heavy sigh, spat out the foam in her mouth, squeezed facial cleanser into her palm, rubbed it into foam, and spread it on her face.
“Seriously, how did I end up in this kind of situation?”
“Already turned into a girl… my male mindset almost gone… and then I meet a girl who seems perfect for me.”
She complained to herself and forced out a weak smile. “I think I’m getting a little crazy.”
“Brother~” Her little sister knocked on the door suddenly and reminded her from outside, “Mom said to remember to use your skincare products.”
“Got it.”
It’s not that she didn’t know, she just didn’t want to use them…
So many skincare steps, doing them all takes twenty minutes. With that time, she could already be drinking cola and playing a round of Mahjong on her computer.
After washing up, An Han stretched and looked at herself in the mirror. Her skin looked dull again, and without makeup, her features looked much plainer.
She reached out to grab her chest binder, but suddenly hesitated.
It was already the third day. Maybe it was time to let her father notice something.
An affection score in the eighties was quite stable. Long Xing and Su Peng also had affection scores that high before, and she still couldn’t lower them no matter what she tried.
With affection this high, even if she revealed her secret directly, her father probably wouldn’t scold her too harshly.
“To be completely safe, it should reach the nineties or even one hundred…”
But her family accepting her gender would also completely crush the last bit of her male consciousness.
She didn’t want to experience what happened yesterday ever again.
After making up her mind, An Han put the chest binder away and didn’t use it again.
Downstairs, the sound of the front door opening came, her father had returned after buying breakfast.
“Come down and eat!”
Just from his voice, An Han could tell he seemed to be in a bad mood.
Curious, she peeked down from the stairs. She saw her father sitting alone at the dining table, not moving, lost in thought.
She sensed what this might be about and nervously went downstairs. As expected, the moment she reached the bottom, her father turned to look at her, scanning her from head to toe.
“What is it?” An Han straightened her posture nervously.
“Nothing.” He frowned and handed her a bag of thick rice soup. “Go get a bowl and pour this in.”
On the table were several bags of rice soup, plus some triangular rice cakes, shrimp fritters, and fried dough sticks. These were common breakfasts in their hometown, something An Han had eaten growing up.
Using a bowl to scoop some porridge from the edge of the pot, An Han sat down facing her father. She ate while secretly looking up from time to time to check her father’s expression. Her mother was still upstairs tying her little sister’s hair, and they could faintly hear her mother scolding the girl.
“Why are people outside saying you’re a girl?” Her father suddenly asked.
Earlier, he had already noticed that the neighbors kept pointing at An Han whenever they went out. Today, he finally understood all the gossip spreading outside.
An Han’s body froze for a moment. She looked down and continued eating breakfast, pretending not to care. “How would I know?”
Her father looked at her deeply, trusted his child’s answer, nodded, and reassured her.
“Just a bunch of old folks with nothing better to do. Don’t take their words too seriously.”
“Okay.”
She managed to get past it easily. When someone likes you more, it becomes easier for them to trust what you say.
“How did things go with Lin Yue yesterday?” Her father quickly forgot the gossip and began asking about her future again. “I heard Lin Yue is quite satisfied with you.”
When that girl was mentioned, An Han felt a sudden sharp pain in her heart. Her face turned a bit pale, and she silently shook her head.
If she were still a man, she would of course follow her father’s wishes and be willing to spend more time getting to know Lin Yue. But now, it was impossible.
“What? Lin Yue looks nice, studied abroad, and has a good personality…”
“I’m not good enough for her.” An Han cut him off.
She lowered her head, and the hand holding the spoon trembled slightly.
If this were before the system appeared, she would definitely have chosen Lin Yue. But now, although she is physically female, the part of her that likes Lin Yue comes from the remaining male mindset inside her.
When that male mindset rises in her mind again, her body and gender will clash with it, causing strong rejection and pain…
Her father stared at her in surprise, not sure what to say.
Suddenly, he noticed the rise and fall of her chest. He was just about to ask when her little sister rushed down the stairs noisily.
“Dad! Take me to the Water World today! I want to play in the water!”
“It’s freezing outside and you want to play in the water?” The father’s words were interrupted. He gently patted her head. “Let’s go in the summer, okay?”
“But you’re not home in summer~”
“Next year Dad will come back during summer vacation, okay?”
Her sister huffed unhappily, dragged a chair over, and sat down beside An Han.
“Later let’s go buy toys together, okay?”
“Okay!”
Her sister’s gloomy expression instantly turned bright and cheerful.
Seeing she had cheered up, their father let out a small sigh of relief. Then he looked back at An Han, rubbed his temples in frustration, and couldn’t help asking.
“You’re not going to like boys, right?”
An Han looked up in disbelief. Her brows tightened slightly. “Just because I don’t like Lin Yue, that means I like boys? What if I really do like boys?”
Her father didn’t seem too bothered. He picked up a small triangular rice cake and said with a smile, “Then of course I’ll respect your sexual orientation.”
He sounded completely like he was joking. He clearly didn’t take his own words seriously.
But An Han remembered them very clearly. She nodded. “Mm, I understand.”
If one day she really brings a boyfriend home to introduce to him, then when her father gets angry, she can use that exact sentence to shut him down.
Too bad she didn’t record it. And it would be best if her mother is present too, otherwise her father might get embarrassed and hit someone out of anger…
