Chapter 236: The Evidence Is Clear
After breakfast, Father was still sitting at the dining table. His eyebrows stayed slightly furrowed, and his thoughts were completely messy.
The neighbors outside kept spreading rumors, saying his son was actually a girl, saying his son had done gender-change surgery, and some even recommended a few boys for him to introduce to his “son.”
It was way too ridiculous.
Father couldn’t imagine who started such rumors, and he didn’t understand why the neighbors could believe something so absurd.
But there was something strange about An Han.
The way she acted always carried a soft, feminine feeling. When talking with her, her girl-like tone mixed with her gentle manner even made him feel like he was talking to a woman.
And on the first night after coming home… When she went to the bathroom in the middle of the night, he clearly saw the curved shape on her chest.
Today he also noticed movement on her chest again, but before he could ask, he got interrupted.
Last night when he slept on An Han’s bed, he even smelled a faint milky fragrance…
Father rubbed his temples in frustration, feeling that everything had gone wrong these days.
His wife fought with him and even wanted a divorce. His son was acting strange in many ways. The arranged blind date, which was supposed to go smoothly, also turned into a mess.
Footsteps came from the stairs. After taking a long time upstairs, Mother finally came down.
Even at home, she would put on light makeup, and except for the times she was scolding their younger daughter, she always acted proper and graceful.
Father immediately looked up. He originally wanted to smile, but remembering their argument, where she misunderstood him for cheating, his face stiffened. He even snorted on purpose.
“What are you and An Han hiding from me?”
Mother walked to the table and picked up the bowl An Han had used. She answered with a smile.
“What could your son possibly hide from you?”
“I’m not even home most of the time.”
“At least you know that yourself…”
Father choked on her words and tried to defend himself awkwardly.
“I earn more money overseas. And when I asked you to move abroad with me, you didn’t want to.”
Mother rolled her eyes and didn’t argue further. But while washing dishes, she worried about An Han’s strange behavior these past two days.
Before this, An Han had been doing very well, until she was forced to go on that blind date…
“Don’t arrange any more blind dates for An Han these days.”
Father didn’t disagree and nodded. But then a strange thought suddenly popped into his head.
“Could it be that… An Han is actually a girl?”
Mother’s hands paused while washing dishes. “And what if he really is?”
“How is that possible?” Father immediately threw away the idea. He shook his head helplessly. “It’s too ridiculous.”
“What if it’s true?”
Hearing her ask such a random question, Father slowly looked up at her back.
It couldn’t really be true, right?
He frowned tightly, unable to accept the thought. He carefully recalled An Han’s face, although a bit feminine, it still looked like a boy’s.
Ignoring all the suspicious details, he answered firmly. “There is no ‘what if’!”
On the third floor, An Han sat on the stairs, playing a game on her phone while secretly listening to their conversation downstairs.
Hearing her father’s words, she curled her lips helplessly.
“Looks like he really can’t accept it.”
“Isn’t it good that big brother becomes big sister?”
Her little sister peeked from the side, watching her play games, and asked in confusion.
“You’re the only one who thinks it’s good.”
“So how did big brother become big sister?”
An Han’s face darkened. This was the kind of question she feared the most, especially coming from her little sister. It made her feel just as embarrassed as the first time she wore girls’ clothes.
With a sigh, she handed the phone to her sister.
“Here, I beat this boss for you. You can play the rest.”
She normally didn’t play mobile games, but since her sister liked them, she downloaded a few action games just for her.
“Die one more time and you’ll have to go do your homework.”
“I know.” Her little sister didn’t even look up, already fully focused on the game.
After sending her sister away, An Han finally stood up and returned to her own room. She glanced at the neatly folded blanket, obviously folded by her father, and sat down at her computer desk. She casually took off her jacket and placed it on the back of the chair.
It looked like her father really did sleep on her bed last night.
She didn’t think much about it. She turned on the computer and rested her chin on one hand while staring at the loading screen.
Her phone vibrated. She looked down and saw a message from Lin Yue.
“Why were you crying yesterday?”
“I don’t even dare ask you to hang out anymore…”
“Are you okay?”
An Han only glanced at the messages and immediately felt a headache. She began thinking about whether she should just delete Lin Yue from her contacts.
She really didn’t want that leftover male instinct in her mind to wake up again.
Reason told her she should cut ties with Lin Yue right away.
She carefully tried to think of how to reject Lin Yue, but her mind felt messy. Her fingers touched the phone screen, yet she didn’t know how to say it nicely.
“I think we are not suitable for each other.”
After a long time, An Han finally typed one sentence and forced herself to send it.
“Actually, I also feel we are more suitable to be besties.”
Lin Yue even added a playful emoji, making it so easy for An Han to imagine her cheerful, joking tone.
Her feelings became a bit complicated. She sighed softly and then suddenly sat up straight in shock.
She turned around and stared, terrified, at her father who was sitting at the edge of the bed.
When did you come in?! Did I not lock the door?!
An Han froze, staring at him, then stiffly turned her head toward the wide-open door. Her father’s serious face only made it worse.
Then she suddenly remembered, she wasn’t wearing the chest binder and she had taken off her jacket.
No, she was facing away from him. Maybe he hadn’t noticed yet…
She originally planned to slowly let her father notice something today, just so he could be mentally prepared. But she had never planned to let him discover everything so directly and clearly!
She lowered her head and looked at the men’s sweater she was wearing. Even though it was thick and loose, it still couldn’t hide the shape in front of her chest.
Too big…
She instantly lost all focus on replying to Lin Yue. Her whole body stiffened as she tried hard to act calm and casually reached for the jacket hanging on her chair.
“An Han.”
Her father suddenly spoke, startling her so much that she dropped the jacket on the floor.
“W-What is it?”
“What exactly are you and your mom hiding from me?” His brows were tightly locked. He leaned forward, resting his chin on his crossed hands.
She could feel his eyes staring straight at her back.
“There’s nothing we’re hiding from you…” Her voice was as tiny as a mosquito.
Her father rubbed his temples with his thumb and stood up.
A cold feeling crawled up her spine. Her heartbeat sped up wildly.
His slow, clear footsteps behind her made her chest tighten. From the corner of her eye, she saw him walking to her side, and her whole body froze.
Her father lowered his head. His gaze stopped directly on her chest.
Instantly, her face turned bright red. She quickly bent down to pick up the jacket and pulled it onto herself at lightning speed.
When she looked up again, her father’s eyes were full of confusion.
