Chapter 254: A Surprise

“Is that your girlfriend?” Su Guangyu asked with interest.

It was only the first time he saw her, but the moment he laid eyes on her, it felt like a wave of liking was forcefully pushed into his head, making him like that girl for no reason.

“She does look like a pretty good girl.”

Because of her “liking” ability and her charm attribute, he had already accepted An Han without thinking.

Just as he was talking, Su Peng suddenly started running. He rushed toward the traffic light at the end of the street and crossed the road in the last two seconds of the green light. He realized that An Han seemed to be planning to run away.

The closer he got to the confused and panicking An Han, the more excited he became. A light numbness spread to the tips of his fingers, and the excitement and happiness showed right on his face.

“An Han!” He rushed over and opened his arms. “Why did you sneak over here!”

An Han stepped aside, bent down slightly, and smoothly dodged Su Peng’s “attack.” Su Peng almost ended up hugging a roadside tree. He ran several meters past her before he finally stopped.

“You were trying to kill me, right?” An Han glared at him a little unhappily, but it was also the first time she had seen Su Peng this excited.

She looked at his awkward, excited, and overly happy expression, then saw his face twitch as he tried to force his exaggerated grin back into his usual gentle smile...

She couldn’t help lowering her head and laughing. Her goal for this trip was already half achieved.

Su Peng was even more excited than she expected, and his expression was even more exaggerated.

Then, looking at her beautiful and graceful figure, Su Peng suddenly hugged her into his arms.

An Han did not expect that. When his warm body and strong masculine aura rushed toward her, her body froze instantly. A soft blush spread over her face, and her cold cheeks suddenly felt hot.

“Um… that uncle is watching.”

An Han struggled a little and shrank her shoulders shyly, sneaking a glance at Su Guangyu across the street. “Is that your dad?”

“Yeah.”

Su Peng’s arms trembled as he hugged her even tighter, almost greedy for her scent.

The moment he saw An Han, all the gloomy feelings in his heart cleared away. The pressure from his family forcing him to go on blind dates, the frustration from not seeing her for a long time, the stress from his dog being sick yesterday…

All those negative emotions disappeared at once.

“You’re hugging me too hard… it hurts…”

An Han still felt Su Peng was being way too dramatic, dramatic enough that it scared her a little. It had only been half a month since they last met…

“Sorry.”

Su Peng finally let go. His smile returned to its usual gentle look, but his eyes were curved into happy slits.

“I’m just too happy. I couldn’t control myself.”

“Oh~”

An Han felt a bit uncomfortable and sneaked another look at Su Guangyu in the distance.

“I almost didn’t recognize you. It’s only been like ten days, but you changed so much!”

Su Peng looked at her from head to toe with burning eyes, asking in disbelief, “You’re like… you suddenly changed from a mischievous kid into an adult.”

“What kind of description is that?”

An Han crossed her arms, which also made her chest, now larger than when they last met, stand out even more.

“You should go see Wangcai first… Oh right, I brought a gift for him.”

“Okay, thank you on his behalf.”

If that dog knew the truth, it would probably bite me twice.

Su Peng accepted the chew stick, paused for a moment, but didn’t think too much about it.

“Come on, want me to introduce you to my dad?”

“No, no, no!” An Han instantly stepped back several steps.

“If your family is there, I can’t relax. You go check on the dog first. I’ll wait for you here. After that, we can go shopping together.”

“Okay.”

An Han watched Su Peng leave, then quickly stepped into the shop behind her with stiff movements. Only when she no longer felt his eyes on her did she shiver, her scalp tingling.

“I actually ran into Su Peng’s dad…”

She sighed sadly. She had never planned to meet Su Peng’s family.

On the other side, Su Peng returned to the entrance of the pet hospital. Seeing his especially happy expression, Su Guangyu teased him, “Your little girlfriend came, and now you forgot all about Wangcai, huh?”

“She’s not my girlfriend yet.”

Su Peng tried to calm his expression, but the teasing still made him a little embarrassed.

He walked straight into the hospital. “Come on, let’s see how Wangcai is doing.”

“How many people are in that girl’s family?”

Su Guangyu completely ignored his attempt to change the topic and continued asking as he followed behind him. “She’s probably not from this city, right? How old is she now? Does her family know about you?”

Su Peng forced himself to ignore the questions and sped up, walking through the pet hospital’s lobby.

“Has she dated before? Does her family run a business or work for the government? Where do they live?”

“Are you doing a police household check or something?” Su Peng finally couldn’t hold it in and snapped back at him.

“Marriage is a big thing. Of course I should check clearly.” Su Peng had never seen his dad be this nosy.

The dog’s condition was okay. After one day of treatment, things were stable. They could take him home if they wanted, but Su Peng was worried that if anything went wrong again, the old dog, already more than ten years old, might not handle the stress. So he decided to let the dog stay for more observation.

After staying with the dog for about ten minutes and making sure everything was fine, Su Peng’s thoughts drifted back to An Han.

“Dad, she is still waiting for me. I’ll go out first?”

Mentioning An Han again was a mistake, as soon as her name came up, Su Guangyu started asking even more questions nonstop.

“What’s her name? Are you bringing her home for dinner tonight? Where is she staying now? Why not let her stay at our house?”

“Her name is An Han.”

Su Peng only answered the first question, then left the hospital as fast as he could, almost like he was escaping.

Across the street from the hospital, An Han was already sitting inside a milk tea shop, yawning while holding a warm cup of cocoa milk tea.

“You came here without telling me first. I could’ve gone to pick you up.”

Su Peng pushed open the glass door and walked in, looking at her with very gentle eyes.

“I wanted to give you a surprise.”

An Han stood up with her warm drink and eagerly pulled him toward the door.

“I saw a VR experience center nearby. Let’s try it! I’ve never played VR before!”

She looked very excited. VR had been popular for several years, but she still hadn’t tried it. It was simply too expensive.

“I have a VR set at home. Why don’t we—”

“No, no, no.”

An Han shook her head so fast it almost blurred. The way she looked at Su Peng was even a bit wary.

“Don’t even think about tricking me into going to your house.”

She only came out because she was bored at home. She did NOT plan to just walk into a trap.

Su Peng shrugged and lowered his head to look at her hand holding his wrist. He turned his hand over and gently wrapped her small hand in his palm.

She was wearing ugly fingerless gloves, but he could still feel how freezing cold her hand was. Her fingers, sticking out from the glove, were as cold as ice.

“Did you get frostbite?” Su Peng noticed the reddish swelling on her fingers.

“I’m used to it. I already try to be careful.”

An Han’s cheeks turned rosy, and she secretly tried to pull her hand away.

“My hands are too cold. I want to put them in my pockets…”

“I’ll warm them for you.”
