Chapter 255: Su Peng’s Home
Su Peng kept secretly watching An Han.
They hadn’t seen each other for more than ten days. The girl who used to be loud, playful, and full of wild energy now seemed calmer and more mature.
Her actions didn’t look very different from before, but there was a new sense of maturity between her eyebrows. Every small movement had a kind of charm to it.
It was a pity she still had short hair. If it were longer, her charm might be even stronger.
He had no idea what she had gone through during the winter break. How could she change so much in such a short time…
When he imagined the things she might have faced after going home, he felt heartache.
Even though he liked this new mature version of her, if he could choose, he would rather see her carefree and mischievous like before. He didn’t mind that at all.
“You… what happened after you went home?” Su Peng asked carefully.
An Han blinked in confusion, thought for a moment, and answered, “I went to visit my grandpa. And my dad came back too.”
Su Peng clearly remembered that her relationship with her father wasn’t good. He instantly imagined a sad story in his head, which made him feel even more sorry for her.
“Oh right, I need to go back to the hotel first. It’s almost twelve.”
An Han suddenly remembered that the hotel required checkout at noon. If she stayed past 2 PM, she would have to pay for the whole day again.
She quickly ordered a ride on her phone and waited anxiously by the street.
“How much is one night?”
“One hundred fifty!”
Su Peng immediately put on a rushed expression too. That amount wasn’t a big deal for him, but since An Han was stressed, he reacted the same way.
“If you hadn’t been so slow, making me wait almost an hour, I wouldn’t be this rushed.”
They hurried to the hotel, checked out just in time, and only then did An Han breathe a sigh of relief.
Her luggage was just a backpack filled with a few sets of inner clothes for the next two days.
As for her coat, it didn’t matter. It wasn’t something that could be washed often anyway.
“I need to figure out where to stay tonight…”
Walking out of the hotel, An Han casually handed her backpack to Su Peng and asked, “Is there any cheap hotel near your place?”
This hotel was near the train station. The price was okay, but the environment was just average, and it was far from the stores she wanted to visit. Even by ride-hailing, it took more than 30 minutes.
“How many nights are you staying?”
“Just tonight. I’m leaving tomorrow afternoon.”
Only then did Su Peng realize she could only stay with him for one day. He froze for a moment, then asked carefully, “Why not stay at my house?”
“……”
An Han looked at him like he was a pervert.
With her old male thinking still in her head, his words basically sounded like he was inviting her for zero-distance interaction.
“My house has two empty guest rooms. If you’re worried about my family… I can just send them out.”
An Han eyed him suspiciously. “Then where would they stay?”
As soon as she asked, she realized it was a dumb question. Why would rich people worry about having nowhere to live? For all she knew, the whole building she pointed at could belong to Su Peng’s family.
“Forget it, let’s go play first.”
She wanted to visit all the shops she was interested in, then choose one fun place and find a hotel near it.
“Just stay at my house. I won’t charge you…” Su Peng said jokingly. “Why are you so sensitive about staying at a friend’s house?”
An Han was stunned and looked away. “I never stay at friends’ homes. I’m not used to it.”
…………………
In the evening, An Han stared blankly at the huge three-story villa in front of her.
Then she slowly turned her head toward Su Peng. “This is your house?”
“Yeah. What’s wrong?”
“What’s wrong? This is a villa in the city center of a nearly first-tier city…”
An Han’s parents’ biggest dream was to buy a piece of land in their hometown countryside and build a small house of their own. But because of policy issues, that dream was almost impossible.
Su Peng unlocked the door with his fingerprint and said with a smile, “My parents happened to go visit relatives today for New Year greetings. They probably won’t come back tonight.”
This afternoon he said he would “send uncle and aunt away,” and now it suddenly became New Year visits.
Curious, An Han peeked around behind him. Her eyes passed over the huge, tall living room and instantly stopped on the woman she saw in the kitchen behind the glass door.
Her expression froze. “Then… who is she?”
“The cooking auntie. She’s pretty good at cooking. She’ll leave after finishing dinner.”
“Oh…” An Han nodded in understanding. “So this whole big villa… only the two of us?”
“Just us tonight.”
Su Peng sat down on the sofa and placed her backpack beside him. Then he looked up at her with a gentle smile.
“What do you want to eat tonight? I’ll ask Auntie to make it for you.”
“Anything is fine.”
Even though his parents weren’t home, An Han still felt nervous. She looked at her shoes and at the spotless tiles on the floor, then carefully walked to the sofa.
“Don’t we need to take off our shoes?”
“It’s fine.”
She relaxed a little and looked around the huge living room. Then she looked upward at the four-to-five-meter-high ceiling. She also noticed a red-wood staircase not far away, and beside it, an elevator.
Her own home also had three floors, but even all together, it probably wasn’t 100 square meters.
“You even have a basement?”
“Yeah, that’s where my dad keeps his wine. Sometimes he works down there too.”
Su Peng turned on the TV while watching An Han’s expression as she looked around with curiosity.
After spending the afternoon together, he understood, all that “mature and ladylike” air she showed was just an act.
As long as she got excited, she returned to her lively self from ten days ago.
“So where will I sleep?”
“There’s a guest room on the first floor. I’ll show you later.”
“Oh~”
Feeling nervous, she sat lightly on the sofa, but she still couldn’t stop her curiosity. Her big eyes kept turning, checking out the villa she had only seen in TV dramas or online.
Not bad… pretty normal.
Compared to the luxury mansion on TV, Su Peng’s home at least didn’t have super expensive-looking decorations everywhere.
At least she wouldn’t accidentally break something and then find out it cost tens of thousands.
“Xiao Peng! Dinner will be ready in half an hour,” the auntie called as she walked out of the kitchen with a smile. “Tonight’s meal is very rich. Whatever you can’t finish, just put in the fridge.”
“Got it.”
An Han leaned slightly toward Su Peng and whispered near his ear, “She doesn’t call you ‘young master’?”
“……”
Su Peng didn’t even know how to answer that. But the familiar sweet girl fragrance from An Han made his head feel light. The milky scent seemed even stronger than before.
People said that only girls still in their growth period would have that sweet milk smell.
So… was An Han still growing?
“Why are you still wearing your coat inside the house?”
“Right.”
An Han had long felt the trench coat was too heavy. She quickly took it off and put it aside, then noticed Su Peng’s eyes falling on her chest.
Her expression stiffened for a moment, but she secretly straightened her back a little.
