“Mom, Dad! Why did you come back so early…?”
She rushed inside while calling out, but the moment she entered, she saw her parents sitting at the table, both staring at her with cold faces.
Her words stopped, her smile froze, and one hand stayed on the door. One of her feet was already trying to quietly step back outside.
“Where have you been these two days?” her mother asked. Her tone sounded calm, but the anger hidden inside was obvious.
“I just went shopping with Lin Yue this afternoon,” An Han said quickly, trying to explain. “When you called me, we were watching a movie. If you don’t believe me…”
“An Han, did you call me?”
From the living room behind them, Lin Yue’s head popped out. She still had a piece of snack in her mouth, and her big eyes looked innocent. “I’m visiting your house!”
Right below her head, another small head popped out. “Sister! Did you go on a date with a handsome guy?!”

Seeing her parents’ expressions grow colder and colder, An Han immediately shut her mouth.
“Come here!”
Her mother’s face was already showing anger. An Han looked at her father for help, but he was completely on her mother’s side. After glancing at Mom’s expression, his face also turned angry.
So unfair! I even helped you make up with Mom! That night when you were so energetic, that was partly thanks to me!
Lowering her head like a guilty child, An Han slowly walked over to the table.
“Mom, there are guests here…” she whispered.

Seeing An Han’s hopeless expression, Lin Yue couldn’t help covering her mouth and laughing. Her eyes curved with amusement. “How was I supposed to know you’d use me as a shield?”
“She didn’t know you were here either!” Mother suddenly placed a bowl of rice down in front of An Han with a loud thump. “Look at Lin Yue, and then look at you! You’re a girl, but you act so wild every day! Look how quiet and well-behaved she is!”

An Han complained in her heart but didn’t dare say a single word back. She placed both hands on her thighs like a well-behaved child, sat straight, and lowered her head, looking completely like someone admitting her mistake.
“Mom, we have a guest,” she whispered. “Don’t ruin your image.”
When her mother put the rice bowl in front of Lin Yue, her face was already full of warmth, and her voice became soft and kind. “Eat more while you’re here. When you go home later, should I ask An Han to send you?”

But when she visited Su Peng’s house, his parents also thought she was great in every way.
“Sister~” Her little sister, sitting on the other side of the table, asked curiously, “Where did you actually go these two days?”
“What two days? It was just today. I just… went to a classmate gathering!”
“Oh! I know! Someone said he was your classmate and came looking for you this afternoon!”

Looks like Dad was angry too. She thought he was only the soft one.
An Han planned to hide in her room for the rest of the night. If she simply survived today, maybe her parents’ anger would calm down by tomorrow.
With her sister fooling around at the table and her parents talking kindly to Lin Yue, it felt like An Han was the only one “serving a prison sentence.”
“Hey, Lin Yue,” An Han suddenly looked up. “Why don’t you stay over tonight?”
“Huh?”
“We haven’t seen each other for days. I missed you,” she said sincerely. “And I want you to teach me how to do makeup tonight.”

Lin Yue looked flustered and waved her hands. “I can’t. My dad won’t let me stay out overnight.”
