Chapter 262: Men Are All the Same!
There was a breakfast shop in the small alley where An Han’s home was, only about a hundred meters away.
It was a little after five in the morning, and the shop had just opened. Only a few customers were sitting inside. She had been eating at this shop since she was small, so normally the owner should recognize her, but now she looked completely like a woman.
She ordered a sweet soy milk, took a piece of triangle cake and some fried shrimp rings, then found a corner seat. While gently blowing on the hot soy milk, she continued checking the new tasks that had popped up.
The reward for Task One was as generous as always. A “marital home” would definitely be in a good area and not small. It was probably even a new house.
But knowing how annoying the system could be, who knew what tricks it might pull? Maybe the house was already supposed to be hers, and the system would just claim it was a “reward.”
“Didn’t Dad say he might take a loan to buy a house this time?”
An Han suddenly remembered one of the reasons her father came back this year.
The reward for Task Two… well, Su Peng would be overjoyed. But for An Han, it was basically useless. She definitely wasn’t planning to do anything deeper with Su Peng anytime soon, and even if she did, she probably wouldn’t be able to relax enough.
This reward was clearly meant for Su Peng, right?
But if she didn’t use it, then it was the same as not having it, like her singing skill. If she didn’t sing or use her fake voice, it basically didn’t exist.
Her face warmed slightly, and strange images almost appeared in her mind. She quickly turned her attention to Task Three.
The first two tasks required Su Peng to show up. He was the key. But Task Three required An Han to face her parents alone and confess the “crimes” of the past few days.
Just imagining that scene made her panic.
Was she really supposed to tell her parents about being confessed to, about kissing, and all of that?
“Maybe I should just pick Task One?” she muttered, taking a bite of the triangle cake.
A pair of eyes landed on her. She looked up and saw that the owner, who was frying food at the entrance, was turning his head to look at her.
Maybe he thought her face looked familiar?
She smiled politely at him, rested her chin on one hand, and continued staring blankly at the task panel.
“Who knows what weird thing the random attribute might force onto me,” she whispered to herself. “If I pick Task One, it’s too difficult. I probably won’t be able to finish it. And besides, Dad is already planning to buy me a house.”
“Task Two… medium difficulty. Su Peng does the work, not me. The reward is very limited, and if I don’t use it, it’s basically nothing.”
But that kind of… steamy reward felt like something that would cause trouble for her later.
An Han let out a sad sigh.
She decided to wait for Su Peng’s reply. If he agreed to come, she would pick Task Two. If he didn’t want to, then she would pick Task Three.
She checked her phone again. The two pop-up notifications and voice call hadn’t woken him up, so she directly called him.
A moment later, Su Peng answered in a sleepy, hoarse voice. “Hello… who is this…”
“It’s me, An Han.”
His voice instantly became more awake.
“Why are you up so early? It’s only five-thirty. Didn’t sleep well?”
“I went to bed early last night.”
Just talking to Su Peng on the phone put her in a much better mood. She gently swung her legs and couldn’t stop smiling sweetly.
“Can you come to my house sometime soon? I think it’s better if my parents agree to our relationship.”
“Uh… your mother doesn’t really like me, right?”
Su Peng became fully awake, sat up with the phone in his hand.
“What about your father? I think we should keep it secret for a while. Maybe tell them after a few months, that might be better.”
An Han understood his point, of course. Her mother was worried because she had just become a girl, and she lacked experience as a woman, making her easy to fool or sweet-talk. That was why her mother didn’t like Su Peng very much, especially since he had looked a bit too interested in her from the beginning.
If they told her mother after a few months or half a year, she would probably accept it much more easily.
An Han didn’t know how to explain. After staying quiet for a moment, she tried copying those girls who act cute. She let out a small nasal sound and spoke in a soft, squeezed voice.
“I don’t care! My parents must agree! If not, then I’ll go talk to them myself!”
When did I become someone who can even act cute like this~?
On the other side of the phone, Su Peng’s heart almost melted. He quickly said, a bit nervous, “Okay, okay, okay, I’ll go.”
He continued, “What do your parents like? I should bring some gifts. Do they dislike anything? Tell me clearly so I won’t get kicked out before I even step inside.”
“They like… saving face?” An Han said uncertainly. “My mom likes to look pretty, and my dad also seems to like showing off a little…”
Su Peng joked, “Then should I go to the garage and pick a more expensive car? Make myself look impressive?”
“That’s your problem. What time are you coming?”
“What time?”
“Yes, today.”
Su Peng didn’t expect An Han to be this urgent. After thinking for a moment, he said, “Noon?”
“Okay!”
[Task Two accepted. Please complete it as soon as possible.]
Now the responsibility was completely pushed onto Su Peng. When things got awkward, he would be the one embarrassed, she only needed to watch from the side.
But she still worried her parents might kick Su Peng straight out of the house.
Feeling uneasy, An Han finished breakfast, packed some extra food, and slowly walked home.
Su Peng had a gentle personality and did things steadily. At least he wouldn’t get into a fight with her parents.
Back home, she sat on the sofa with a troubled look.
Throwing the task at Su Peng didn’t make her feel relaxed like she had imagined. Instead, she kept worrying about everything that might go wrong.
Footsteps sounded from the stairs. Her father came down wearing cotton sleepwear.
He noticed her.
“Up so early?”
“I bought breakfast for you. It’s on the table.”
Her father casually picked up a steamed bun and ate it while sitting at the living room computer. He opened the Happy Landlord game, then suddenly leaned back, making the chair creak, looked at her, and asked,
“You went to see… that Su Peng the last two days?”
He had heard from her mother about the ‘pig trying to eat their cabbage.’
“Mm.” An Han kept her expression steady. “It gets too boring staying home alone.”
Her father didn’t look very angry. It seemed like his attitude yesterday was mostly him going along with her mother.
It looked like he wasn’t as strict as her mother about her having a boyfriend.
This discovery eased An Han’s mind a little. She even started thinking about “winning over” her father so he could help persuade her mother.
“Dad~”
She softened her voice, sounding cute and spoiled, then complained, “Mom won’t let me contact Su Peng! He’s been my classmate for years. Of course I know what kind of person he is!”
“Mom’s thinking is too old-fashioned and strict, right? She acts like all men in the world are bad!”
Her father nodded in agreement.
This made An Han even more excited. Her eyes lit up, she saw hope for lowering the task difficulty.
The final boss is Mom.
Me, Su Peng, and Dad. Three against one, what is there to be afraid of!
“All the men in the world are bad!” her father cursed angrily.
“……”
