Chapter 40: Why Is This Elise So Mischievous
“Oh, okay, I’m coming!”
Urged by Elise, Peiya quickly finished the cakes on her plate, then followed her onto the carriage.
Inside the carriage, Peiya lifted the curtain and looked outside with excitement.
“Wow, why does this place feel even more lively than where we went yesterday? There are so many people on the street, and a lot more shops too.”
“Of course.”
Elise opened the window a bit wider. Her golden hair was gently lifted by the wind. She pointed outside and said,
“This is the busiest shopping street in all of Avalon City. Also, some shops here used to supply clothes to the royal family. So a lot of people come here because of that. It’s normal for it to be crowded. And the clothes I wear were also made here.”
She smiled softly as she spoke.
“I see. No wonder your clothes always look so nice.”
“Do you like this kind of style?”
There was a hint of excitement in Elise’s eyes as she carefully tested Peiya’s opinion.
Recently, she had been trying to figure out what kind of clothes Peiya liked, but she still hadn’t reached a clear answer.
Maybe this was her chance?
Peiya scratched her head helplessly.
“I don’t know. I think they all look nice. Maybe it’s because you’re pretty. I don’t really understand clothes. If you ask me to decide, I probably can’t.”
When she heard Peiya’s comment about her, Elise’s heart skipped a beat.
Her expression became much more lively.

There’s plenty of time in the future to figure out her clothing preferences.
“It’s fine. We’re here. Let’s get off.”
Elise got off the carriage first and reached out her hand to help Peiya.
Peiya hesitated for a moment when she saw the hand, but still placed hers on it.
The touch was soft, like holding a piece of cotton.
With Elise’s support, Peiya stepped down from the carriage.
But even after she was already standing safely on the ground, Elise didn’t seem willing to let go.
“I’m already down. You don’t need to keep holding my hand. And this time you’re holding tighter than before.”
“You remember that so clearly? I didn’t even notice,” Elise said with a smile.
Peiya suddenly felt something was wrong. Her face stiffened.

“N-no, I just said it casually. If you want to hold it, then just hold it.”
Faced with Elise’s “attack,” Peiya chose to give in.
If she couldn’t stop it, she might as well just accept it.
Besides, Elise’s hand felt soft, like touching thin silk.
If she paid attention, she could even feel the fine texture. It was warm and comfortable.
Still holding Elise’s hand, Peiya looked at the clothes displayed behind the shop windows.
“These clothes look really nice.”
She looked at the neatly arranged outfits on the racks and felt she liked them a lot.
“Those are men’s clothes. You can’t wear them. Let’s go to another street.”
“Oh, okay. Where are we going?”
“Dream Eden Clothing. Just a little further.”
“Then why didn’t we just get off there in the first place?”
Peiya looked at Elise in confusion.
Elise simply smiled.
“If I didn’t do that, would you have obediently walked around with me?”
Peiya lowered her head and then noticed. Elise was still holding her hand.
“Why do you like holding my hand so much?”
“Because it’s my first time making a friend, so I’m excited. What, do you dislike it?”
“I wouldn’t say I dislike it… it just feels a bit strange. You’re treating me so well. Aren’t you afraid I’ll start depending on you? Like staying at your house and eating for free every day?”
Peiya thought about it. Rich young ladies like her probably hated lazy people, right?
“It’s fine. If you want to eat, I’ll have the maids cook for you.”
Peiya was stunned.
Clearly… Elise had completely misunderstood what she meant.
That’s not what she meant at all!
“I was just using an example. How could I really stay at your house and eat for free every day? If anything, you’d be the one eating my food.”
“What did you say?”
Elise’s voice was very soft, almost lost in the wind.
But Peiya still heard it.
“N-nothing! You heard wrong. I was just talking nonsense. How much longer until we arrive? The shops here all look really nice. Do we really need to customize clothes? I don’t really need to wear such expensive things. It’ll cost more money, and I’ll have to be careful not to dirty them.”
Elise listened to Peiya’s nonstop talking and stayed calm, as if she had expected this.
“It’s necessary. I already booked a designer. We’re making custom clothes for you. If we’re late, it won’t be good.”

After hearing that, Peiya walked faster. She didn’t want Elise to worry too much about her.

That light blue dress from before gave her a fresh feeling, like standing by the sea.

She took the chance to look around the street they were walking on.
The road was paved with small stones, making it non-slip and not too uncomfortable to walk on.

Food, drinks, equipment, tools. This street had it all.
Even though the distance was quite far, Peiya felt like time passed quickly. Before she knew it, they had already arrived.
She looked up and saw a carefully decorated shop, with a large scissors sign on top.
In front of it were the words “Dream Eden Clothing.”
“Is this the place?”
Peiya looked inside from the entrance and saw many beautiful dresses displayed.
They were all stylish and attractive at first glance.
“That’s right. Let’s go in.”
Elise pushed the door open, and a wind chime made a clear sound.
A blue-haired clerk at the counter walked over with a smile.
“Welcome. Do you have a reservation?”
“Yes. Nair, help her customize a set of clothes,” Elise said with a smile.
While they were talking, Peiya looked around the shop and found it even more impressive inside.
She had never seen clothes like these before.
The mannequins wore the latest fashion, and some even had silver accessories on their wrists.
“So many…”
Peiya couldn’t help but sigh in amazement.
Nair walked over to her.
“Miss, you may not know this, but we can make almost any style of clothing here. Whatever you like, we can customize it for you.”
Peiya nodded and kept looking at the unusual designs.
She noticed something about the dresses, they all emphasized the chest area.
Almost every dress highlighted that feature.
But she… was a bit lacking there.
Does that mean she can never wear dresses?
“Do you like dresses?”
Elise noticed where Peiya was looking and walked up to her, asking softly.
“Of course I do. Dresses look so nice. Who wouldn’t like them?”
“Then let’s go to the fitting room. I reserved a room.”
“Is it to take measurements?”
“Yes. We need some measurements to make clothes that fit you well.”
Peiya nodded. This seemed normal for a high-end clothing store.
She followed Elise into the fitting room. As the door closed, Elise turned the handle and locked it from the inside.
Hearing the click, Peiya turned around and saw Elise walking closer.
“Wait, why is the door locked? Aren’t we making clothes? What are you doing?”
Elise took out a soft measuring tape from a drawer and slowly approached her.
Step by step, she cornered Peiya, the smile on her face growing brighter.
“Of course we’re making clothes. Miss Peiya, custom clothes require body measurements, you know. Come on, lift your clothes a bit. Let me check your size~”
