Chapter 24: Then I’ll Drive Your Girlfriend Away
“It’s fine, it’s fine,” Bai’s father’s voice was full of laughter. “How is it, going out with A-chuan?”
Hearing his gentle voice, Su Moyu still felt a bit uncomfortable.
Because when she secretly saw him scolding Bai Shuchuan before, he always looked fierce and strict. But when he spoke to her, he was always kind and gentle.
Every time she went to find Bai Shuchuan, Bai’s father would be very warm. “Xiao Yu, you’re here? Bai Shuchuan is upstairs.” Then she would nod and quietly sneak upstairs.
“Mm, it’s been quite fun,” Su Moyu answered softly. To be honest, she still wasn’t used to her current identity.
After all, Bai’s father already treated her like a daughter-in-law. Even if she didn’t feel a big change, it still made her a bit uncomfortable.

And she didn’t know what her relationship with Bai Shuchuan’s family would become after she and Bai Shuchuan eventually divorced.
“That’s good,” Bai’s father said with a smile. “If you feel wronged in any way, or if that brat Bai Shuchuan bullies you, just tell me.”
Su Moyu immediately smiled and turned to look at Bai Shuchuan, who was eating nearby.
“Okay, Dad,” she said happily. Now she had someone backing her up.
“During your university years, get along well. After graduation, find a good job. It will be good for you and your future children,” Bai’s father continued.
Hearing this, Su Moyu felt like something was a bit off.
But maybe it was just because this was her first time talking to him as a daughter-in-law, so she was overthinking it.
“Got it. Is Mom doing well?”
“She… is doing fine,” Bai’s father paused for a moment before answering.
“Dad, you should also take good care of yourself,” Su Moyu said softly.
“Okay.”
Bai Shuchuan’s eyes flickered. He looked at Su Moyu, who was smiling, and his expression became a bit troubled.
“Alright, I’ll hang up now. I don’t have anything else to say. Have you eaten?” Bai’s father asked.
“Not yet, we’re just about to eat.”
“Then go eat first.”
“Okay.”
Su Moyu hung up the phone, opened a short video app, and rested her other hand on Bai Shuchuan’s shoulder. “Now I’ve got someone supporting me, haha~”
Bai Shuchuan’s smile looked a bit stiff, and Su Moyu noticed it right away.
“What’s wrong, Bai Shuchuan? It feels like you’re hiding something from me,” she asked suspiciously.
Bai Shuchuan hesitated, his eyes avoiding hers.
“What could I possibly hide from you?” he said with a smile, though he was already panicking inside.
Su Moyu’s expression turned a bit doubtful.
“Or maybe… you’re still not happy even after coming out with me?”
Bai Shuchuan shook his head. “I’m very happy, really.”
“Then you must be hiding something,” Su Moyu said firmly.
“But I really have nothing to hide from you,” Bai Shuchuan said helplessly. He truly didn’t know how to fool her.
Seeing his reaction, Su Moyu thought carefully. It really didn’t seem like there was anything he could hide from her.
It’s not like he secretly had another girlfriend behind her back… right?
As soon as that thought appeared, she paused while eating.
Oh no, why would I even think that?!
Su Moyu pretended to sigh. “Going out is better than you expected, right?”
Seeing that she didn’t continue the previous topic, Bai Shuchuan quietly felt relieved.
“Yeah,” he said. “Sometimes experiencing a life different from usual is quite nice.”
Hearing that, Su Moyu became proud again.
“See? I told you, listening to me is always right.”
Bai Shuchuan smiled helplessly. When he looked at Su Moyu again, his gaze started to avoid her once more.

Su Moyu leaned against the headboard, scrolling on her phone and checking guides for the early-morning hike.
“If I don’t wake up tomorrow morning, just pull me up, okay?” she said, nudging Bai Shuchuan with her arm.
“Okay,” he replied.
Only then did Su Moyu feel at ease. After all, she didn’t really trust herself to wake up at 4 a.m.
After roughly going through the guide and getting a general idea, she put down her phone and stretched.
“Having a chest is really uncomfortable,” Su Moyu complained. “It even feels hard to breathe.”
Bai Shuchuan cleared his throat, not knowing how to respond.
“When I think about having to live like this for the rest of my life, I feel a bit scared,” Su Moyu said softly, glancing at him from the corner of her eye.
Bai Shuchuan looked confused.
“But you seem pretty happy right now.”
Su Moyu snorted lightly. “I am happy right now, that’s true.”
She looked at her hands. Her skin was smooth and fair, with a light pink color at the joints.
“But right now… it feels like going on a trip. When you stay at home for too long and then go somewhere new, it feels fresh and exciting. But after a few days, you start missing home again,” she said, letting out a soft sigh. “Maybe when the newness of being like this wears off, I’ll start to dislike this life.”
Listening to her own clear voice, she no longer felt the same excitement as before.
“After all, being like this still feels a bit uncomfortable for me.”
“What I don’t understand even more is… if I stay like this forever, what kind of things will happen in the next few decades of my life?”
Her expression became a little lost. Then she felt a warm touch on her head.
“Didn’t you tell me to just go with the flow? Why don’t you believe it yourself?” Bai Shuchuan said helplessly as he gently patted her head.
Su Moyu curled up her legs and pouted, looking a bit wronged.
“I can’t always stay optimistic. Of course I’ll have moments where I doubt myself,” she said, her expression becoming even more troubled.
“And I can’t talk about this with my parents. It’s really annoying.”
Bai Shuchuan smiled helplessly.
“Then just talk to me.”
Su Moyu narrowed her eyes slightly and looked at him. “Right now, sure, you have time to stay with me. But what about later? If you get a girlfriend like before, and I end up eating alone every day?”
“If you need me, come find me. I’ll definitely help you.”
Su Moyu still didn’t quite believe him, Bai Shuchuan continued, “And besides, don’t you have a lot of friends…?”
“The only person I can eat with is you,” Su Moyu replied. “Are you serious? What if you find someone and leave me behind?”
Bai Shuchuan looked at her face, and a sudden impulse rose in his heart.
“I won’t,” he said, choosing his words carefully. But seeing her frown, he quickly added, “Really.”
“Oh? You said that yourself. What if you go back on your word later?”
Bai Shuchuan shrugged.
“I really don’t know about that.”
“Hmph. Then I’ll just act like a manipulative girl and scare your girlfriend away.”
