Chapter 38: Did You Two Fight?
Su Moyu was stunned for a moment. A strange, sour feeling suddenly rose in her heart. She looked up at Bai Shuchuan and saw the confused expression on his face.
Seeing that she looked like she wanted to say something but stopped herself, Bai Shuchuan became even more puzzled.
“That’s not what I meant,” Su Moyu explained.
In that brief moment just now, she really did wonder, could it be like she thought? Could Bai Shuchuan actually like her?
But when she turned and saw his clueless expression, she quickly dismissed that idea.
Probably not.
Bai Shuchuan was the kind of person who thought very directly. He was probably still treating her like a bro. Only someone like her, who tended to overthink, would imagine something like falling in love.
Thinking this, Su Moyu felt a bit embarrassed.
“I thought so,” Bai Shuchuan said. “But what you said does make sense.”
Feeling a bit guilty, Su Moyu quickly changed the topic. “Right? Now hurry and send me fifty so we can improve our bond.”
Bai Shuchuan smiled lightly. “Then I’ll take you out for dinner later. My mom probably already bought food for lunch.”
Su Moyu’s face lit up immediately. “Yay!”
Seeing her smile, Bai Shuchuan’s mood also became better.
The two of them stayed quietly on the rooftop until the sun fully rose. Then Su Moyu curled up and went back to the room.
“So cold, so cold,” she said, shrinking into herself as she dove back under the blanket.
Bai Shuchuan glanced at her face and saw her cheeks were red from the cold.
“Hurry up and come warm the blanket, I’m freezing,” she urged.
Bai Shuchuan didn’t think much and lay down beside her.
“Do you want me to hold you? It might make you warmer,” he suggested.
“…No need,” Su Moyu said, a bit speechless.
“Oh,” Bai Shuchuan replied. The atmosphere between them returned to an awkward but quiet silence.
“At times like this, don’t ask, just do it,” Su Moyu said, unable to stand the unclear tension between them. “Girls are like that. When the moment feels right, just go for it. Don’t ask, understand? Asking makes it awkward.”
Bai Shuchuan nodded slowly. “Really?”
“If you care about someone, just show it. If they don’t want it, they’ll say no,” Su Moyu said.
Bai Shuchuan nodded again. Just as she was about to continue, he suddenly pulled her into his arms.
Su Moyu’s face instantly turned red. As she smelled his scent, her heartbeat sped up again.
“Still cold?” Bai Shuchuan asked softly near her ear.
Su Moyu felt like this kind of situation was so cliché. Somehow, Bai Shuchuan suddenly gave off the feeling of a domineering CEO, and she was like the delicate wife in his arms…
She had seen this kind of scene so many times in romance novels.
But still, she couldn’t help feeling a strange tingling sensation. The warm breath near her ear made her scalp feel numb.
The cold feeling in her body quickly faded. The touch of their bodies so close together made Su Moyu relax without realizing it.
So warm…
She swallowed, but the sense of guilt in her heart pushed her to break free from his arms.
If they were just “bros,” then hugging like this felt completely unreasonable to her!
“Okay… that’s enough…” Su Moyu said softly.
Bai Shuchuan let go of her. Su Moyu looked at him with a red face, but that only made him look at her in confusion.
“Why are you blushing?” he asked helplessly.
“I was teaching you what to do when you have a girlfriend in the future, not telling you to do this to me,” Su Moyu said, changing the topic. There was a bit of dissatisfaction in her voice. After losing that warm feeling, she didn’t know why she felt a little disappointed.
She had to admit, physical closeness did feel nice.
“Alright,” Bai Shuchuan said, his expression turning troubled.
For some reason, Su Moyu felt a bit unhappy. She turned to the side and pulled the blanket over her head.
Only then did Bai Shuchuan realize something felt off about her mood.
Maybe she didn’t like that kind of physical contact…
He looked down at his hands, then at Su Moyu’s back as she faced away from him.
Maybe that was it.
He stood up, walked to the wardrobe, took out a blanket, and gently covered her with it.
Feeling the extra weight, Su Moyu poked her head out from under the blanket. His face was a bit too close. She froze for a moment, then calmly glanced at the blanket in his hands. Not knowing what to say, she covered her face again.
Bai Shuchuan could also feel that something between them was off. He straightened up and left the room, but the image of her just now, when she looked at him, remained in his mind.
He let out a quiet breath. Why did he feel something so strange?
Just now, when he hugged her, it was completely out of impulse…
He slowly walked down the stairs, his eyes fixed on the steps as they moved past his view.
No matter what, he didn’t want to make Su Moyu feel uncomfortable.
…………………
“Shuchuan, why hasn’t Xiao Yu gotten up yet?” Bai’s mother asked softly while serving him a bowl of porridge.
“I’ll go call her,” Bai Shuchuan replied. Just as he turned to leave the kitchen, he ran into Su Moyu.
“I’m up, aun… mom,” Su Moyu said with a slightly awkward smile.
Bai’s mother knew she wasn’t used to calling her that yet.
“It’s okay, just say whatever feels natural. You can call me ‘auntie’ too. Come have breakfast.”
“Mm, thank you, Mom,” Su Moyu said, taking the bowl of porridge with preserved egg and lean meat.
Bai Shuchuan watched her walk to the table and sit down. Then he felt someone tap his shoulder.
“Take it, this one is yours,” his mother reminded him.
Only then did he come back to his senses, quietly responding as he took the bowl.
Sitting at the table, Su Moyu noticed that Bai’s father was not there.
“Where’s Dad?”
“He had to teach in the morning, so he already ate and left,” Bai Xiaqing replied.
Su Moyu was surprised. “But his condition…”
“Let him do what he wants to do,” Bai Xiaqing said helplessly. “At least he can still do it for now.”
Su Moyu let out a soft breath. “That’s true.”
Bai Shuchuan sat down beside her and started eating silently.
Bai Xiaqing immediately sensed something was wrong.
“You two… did you have a fight?”
