Chapter 370.2: My Birthday (Part 2)

After losing everything, she had accidentally gained everything again. Because of that, she could no longer bear the thought of losing it all once more.

So she called Armand’s name, as if confirming his existence again and again in this sudden wave of fear and urgency.

As Armand responded to her, she moved even closer.

One of her hands rested on his chest, and the other slipped under his shirt.

She exhaled warm breaths against his neck, hotter than the fireplace itself.

Armand’s throat tightened as he reacted to her touch.

Evelia wanted to get closer to him, and he wanted to hold her just as much.

Silently, they leaned closer and closer, their breathing and body heat mingling—

Their lips brushed lightly—

“Dad? Mom?”

But at that exact moment, a young child’s voice came from outside the door.

The familiar voice, and the unique way of calling them, could only belong to Rachel.

“—Uh!”

The sound came from Armand. He quickly pulled Evelia a little away from him, straightened his clothes, and stood up to open the door.

Click.

The door lock turned gently, and through the gap, it was indeed Rachel.

“Dad, good evening.” Rachel hugged her pillow and greeted Armand, then poked her head in to greet Evelia as well. “Good evening, Mom.”

“Rachel, it’s so late, what are you doing?”

Seeing Evelia frown slightly, Armand quickly stepped in to ease the situation, picking up Rachel with her pillow into his arms.

“Because I want to sleep with Dad.”

She said this, of course, because of the soul stone.

The soul stone still needed more time to finish its full recording. The closer they were to each other, the faster the transfer would be. Normally, Armand had to work, and Rachel couldn’t go to the knight order every day.

Right now, the most convenient time to do this was when they were all sleeping together. And during sleep, people stayed still, Armand wouldn’t wander around, and neither would Rachel, so there was no worry of the transfer being interrupted halfway. Even though it was an accumulating process and wouldn’t completely reset if interrupted, wasting so much time would still feel like a pity.

“Ah—of course, Mom too. I want to sleep with Mom as well!”

At first, Rachel hadn’t realized Evelia would also be in Armand’s bedroom. When she saw both Armand and Evelia there, and from the way they were clearly sitting very close to each other, Rachel’s heart gave a jolt. She thought she might have interrupted something between the two of them.

After greeting them and seeing Evelia’s face immediately darken, Rachel became even more certain of her guess. There was no need to think about it, she had definitely interrupted them.

“I see… Come on then. Thinking about it, it really has been a while since we all rested together.”

Although Armand felt a bit helpless that his moment with Evelia had been interrupted, he couldn’t say no to Rachel’s request. He picked her up, placed her on the bed, and set her small pillow between the two regular pillows on the double bed.

“All right, little one, lie here nicely. Mom and I will fix the blankets and join you.”

As he said this, he lovingly tucked Rachel in and gently placed a kiss on her forehead.

This action made Evelia, who hadn’t even gotten her kiss yet, even more annoyed. It felt as if her invisible anger was going to burn Rachel into ashes.

If Rachel had truly been a child, she might not have noticed Evelia’s anger. But unfortunately, she wasn’t. She could read the room, and she could feel this rare irritation from Evelia toward her. It felt like she had stepped into an oven, and soon Evelia would roast her alive and eat her.

“All right, all right, dear, you should rest too.”

Seeing Evelia about to lose her patience, Armand quickly went over with a sheepish smile, anxiously coaxing her. He even ignored Rachel’s presence and kissed Evelia directly.

“Mm… fine.”

That one kiss, plus the word “dear,” was like a cure-all. Evelia immediately stopped being angry and nestled in Armand’s arms like a soft little kitten.

From Rachel’s perspective, this was like watching a completely different person from the one who had just been ready to roast her alive.

After tidying up the things on the floor, Armand and Evelia both changed into pajamas.

Although Evelia really wanted to sleep glued to her Mr. Armand, she couldn’t reject letting Rachel snuggle in once in a while. Besides, Armand would hold both of them tightly in his arms, closer than when they had just been sharing a blanket earlier.

“Good night, Dad, Mom.”

Rachel also enjoyed this moment.

She had only come to borrow Armand’s soul stone energy, but she hadn’t expected it to suddenly turn into a night of the three of them sharing a bed like a real family.

As an “old soul,” Rachel normally wouldn’t fall for this kind of thing.

But when she was held in between Armand and Evelia, this sudden happiness and warmth almost made her want to cry for a moment.

This kind of life… it felt like a hidden paradise.

The feeling of everyone holding each other so close was just too warm.

If life could stay like this, surely they could survive any kind of harsh winter—

Rachel certainly hoped so. All of them were working hard for that future.

In the past, they each had their own different goals, but who would have thought that in less than a year, they would truly become a family?

Even if their identities were false, every bit of their feelings was real.

…She really liked this.

Even an “old soul” like Rachel couldn’t help but think this way.

And of course, for the three of them, they all felt the same.

Even now, each of them still carried their own thoughts in their heart.
