Volume 1 Chapter 36: If You Die, Make a Sound
The core had almost been hit by the girl’s shot.
The Disaster Beast let out another soul-shaking roar, and its transparent tentacles wildly rushed toward Amber.
Although Amber used snowflake balls to freeze some of the tentacles, and cut down the ones that slipped through with her rapier, those attacks did not seem to do much against the thick mass of tentacles before her.
Very quickly, the cut tentacles grew back longer and returned to how they were before.
Amber was slowly becoming unable to keep up.
Then a tentacle struck her from behind.
Before she could steady herself in the air, two more tentacles wrapped around her ankles and lifted her upside down.
As for the cowboy hat on Amber’s head, who knew what kind of magic had been used on it?
Even while hanging upside down, it stayed firmly on her head without showing any sign of falling off.
Even though her vision was upside down...
Even though she could no longer move...
There was not the slightest fear on Amber’s face.
From where she hung, she could clearly see the beast’s huge head that seemed to cover the sky...
And the black core hidden inside its half-transparent body, shining with faint light.
“So you can keep moving the weak point inside your body...”
“You really are a sly one.”

“Then I’ll just shoot through everything!”
As Amber proudly declared this, blazing fire seemed to ignite inside her bright golden eyes.
Pale golden light covered her whole body.
At the same time, a golden magic circle carved with complex patterns slowly appeared behind her.
The star symbols on the magic circle rippled like water.
Countless guns, the same style as the pistols hanging at her waist, slowly extended from the circle, humming with killing intent.
Golden and silver light mixed together.
The magic circle behind her burst with dazzling brightness. Its huge magical power became a rushing flood.
“This boring game is over!”
The moment her words fell, the restraints were finally broken. Countless vertical yellow lights poured out from the magic circle.
Looking carefully, one would see that every point of light was a thumb-sized star-shaped bullet.
The bullets flew out at high speed, rubbing against the air and making sharp sounds.
In an instant, they turned the crossing tentacles into scattered dust.
A chain of explosions spread across the beast’s body with fire and light, leaving hole after hole.
The thread-like material repairing its body was far slower than the speed at which the golden bullets tore through it.
Soon, the dark egg-shaped core was exposed to the open air.
Amber’s silver rapier, decorated with ribbons, swiftly cut the tentacles tied around her feet.
She pushed off with her legs and shot upward.
A pale golden trail was left in the air beneath her feet as she rushed toward the exposed core.
The beast had clearly realized what Amber was trying to do. It twisted wildly and roared warning after warning.
More tentacles lashed out, trying to tear the thin girl in front of it into pieces.
Sharp sword light split the incoming tentacles into two.
The beast tried once again to wrap the core with thread-like matter.
But it had already used too much energy repairing the holes in its body.
Now, it no longer had the speed it had before. And Amber, now like a streak of light, had already reached it.
Her flashing silver rapier pierced the still-uncovered core in a single instant.
Just like a drawing on paper being erased by an eraser, the strange scene around them quickly disappeared along with the Disaster Beast’s sharp screams.
The dark blue light on its body slowly faded.
Its huge body began to swell and twist, then became covered in cracks like shattered glass.
At last, the screams mixed with the sound of the wind and slowly vanished.
The beast’s cracked body turned into countless tiny points of light and scattered in every direction.
Only the black core remained floating in the air.
“Thank you...”
A gentle voice sounded beside Amber’s ear.
She instinctively turned her head, but other than the wind rushing past her ears, there was no other sound.
Was it just her imagination?
The girl tilted her head, then looked again at the black egg floating quietly before her.
“Phew... Is it over?”
Seeing the beast disappear into the air and the strange amusement park return to normal, Bai Muxue wiped the thin sweat from her forehead and quietly let out a breath of relief.

Attending my own funeral is strange enough already.
If I really ended up lying in the coffin right after that...

Still holding each other tightly, the two girls were thrown away together and crashed hard into the tunnel.
Huge chunks of concrete and steel bars fell like rain, completely blocking the tunnel exit.

Only small beams of light came through the cracks, shining on the faces of the two girls pressed together.
Amber’s soft chest was tightly pressed against the smaller girl beneath her.
Gathering what little strength she had left, Amber painfully kicked away the rocks trapping them, finally making a little space to breathe.
Amber barely managed to climb off Bai Muxue’s body, then collapsed beside her.
Her smooth golden hair was now covered in dust.
Even the cowboy hat on her head hung weakly to one side.
She wiped the blood from the corner of her mouth and coughed hard.
Standing at the center of the explosion, she had no time to raise a shield.
She had also used all her remaining magic power to protect Bai Muxue.
Right now, she looked truly miserable, completely different from the shining and lively girl who had faced the beast earlier.
“Hey... Xiao Xue, are you still alive?”
She painfully turned her head and softly asked the Bai Muxue lying beside her.
