Volume 3 Chapter 25: Kicking the Top Supporter Out
Wow… Among Us?
Lin Lin scratched her head. So this is the famous game that’s supposed to help release stress?
It doesn’t really feel that easy…
Unless Lin Lin herself becomes the impostor and kills a few people to let out her anger,
otherwise she’d probably just keep all that frustration inside.
Alright, let’s briefly explain what Among Us is.
It’s often called “space werewolf”.
Why does it have this name? And how is it different from, or related to, the classic “Werewolf” party game?
The naming logic is kind of like back in the old game console days, when shady pirated game makers renamed every side-scrolling game based on the setting, like Water Contra, Air Contra, Space Contra, and so on.
In short, Among Us is Werewolf, but in space.
In the most classic mode, all players are split into two teams. The crew (good guys) and the impostors (bad guys).
The crewmates do tasks to fix the spaceship. If all tasks are finished, the crew wins.
The impostors pretend to do tasks, look for chances to be alone with a crewmate,
and then kill them.
When a body is found, or someone presses the button in the meeting room, everyone gathers to discuss and vote someone out.
If all impostors are voted out, the crew wins.
If the impostors kill or vote out all the crew, the impostors win.
Very simple logic.
Each round, the crew fixes things and watches key areas to figure out who’s suspicious. The impostors pretend to be innocent, kill people, and clear their name during meetings.
Hmm… when you think about it, wouldn’t it be more fun if the crew and impostors just had a crazy gunfight in the main hall, fighting for control of the ship, and then fixing it?
Cough cough—deal with internal problems first, I guess.
Anyway, Lin Lin didn’t really expect this game to help her release stress. She just invited Dog Bro and Gao Ye, then got ready to open a room and start playing.
“Hey, how about we invite more viewers?” Lin Lin suggested. “If we make a bigger room, wouldn’t it be more fun?”
But Gao Ye shook her head immediately.
“No way. Too many people makes it easy to screen-peek. This game is all about hidden roles. If people peek at streams, it’s not fun anymore.”
That reminded Lin Lin.
Oh right—this is basically a werewolf game.
But then again… they already invited Dog Bro.
And they were kind of watching each other’s streams right now anyway…
“Maybe next time we should use group voice chat or make a voice channel,” Lin Lin said. “Watching each other’s streams like this feels kind of stupid.”
“We’ll talk about that later. For this game—no outside help!” Gao Ye said firmly. “Get out of my stream right now, you vampire! Go away!”
After dropping that harsh line, the catgirl instantly ended her stream, leaving Lin Lin staring at the screen in confusion.
Wow… this girl…
Lin Lin felt helpless.
It’s just a game, does she really need to be this serious?
After a moment, she quietly looked at the top name on her supporter list.
Dog Bro…
He had already joined the room too.
Ahaha…
“Well… I’m not that worried about screen-peeking, and I trust Dog Bro,” Lin Lin said awkwardly. “But, um… you know… outside information really affects games that test thinking and logic. So, uh… Dog Bro, how about you turn off my stream when each round starts?”
Cough cough—this is definitely not because Gao Ye was a bad influence, okay? Lin Lin just honestly wanted to enjoy the game.
But this move completely shocked the viewers in her stream.
【Breaking news: A female streamer tells her top rich supporter to leave right after he spends a huge amount of money.】
【So bold. That 20,000 yuan could’ve been given to me, I’d let Dog Bro screen-peek every day.】
【Oh my god, he dropped 20,000 in one go. Forget screen-peeking, he can peek at my whole life!】
【I can’t handle this. The way Ari-chan treats her top supporter and captain is truly special. Equality for all, a perfect world.】
After reading the comments, Lin Lin suddenly remembered.
Oh wow… right.
Dog Bro had just given her money.
But… playing a game is playing a game…
Lin Lin fell into a dilemma.
Meanwhile, Gao Liang was actually very understanding. He only sent the gift to support a friend and help the stream, not because he wanted special treatment or paid playtime.
Everyone was here to play the game. There was no need for the vampire girl to cater to him, and he wasn’t interested in screen-peeking anyway.
That would just make the game boring.
So, let’s just play normally.
【Watching VTubers Makes Me a Dog: Okay, I’ll leave the stream for now. I’ll come back after this round ends, or if I die.】
“Okay, good luck, Dog Bro!”
After cheering him on, without him even knowing, Lin Lin started waiting.
Very soon, many players joined their room.
Because they were worried that viewers might flood in, Gao Ye, who created the room, worked really hard to set things up. After a lot of effort, she finally made sure that only random players joined.
And then… the game began.
In the first round:
Lin Lin’s color was red,
Gao Liang was blue,
and Gao Ye was yellow.
Lin Lin’s role was crewmate.
Ah, in that case, she just needed to finish the tasks in the upper-right area, be careful, and avoid being alone.
At the start, everyone scattered and went toward their own tasks.
Of course, to avoid someone dying right at the beginning, most people stayed together for a while and moved as a group.
But later, since everyone’s tasks were in different places, they had no choice but to split up.
After leaving the main group, Lin Lin started feeling more and more scared.
Seriously…
The main problem was that both Dog Bro and Gao Ye were following her.
She went into a room, and those two followed her in as well.
Lin Lin stopped and nervously looked at the two behind her.
“Wait… what are these two trying to do?”
She slapped the desk and complained helplessly.
【Bold prediction: one of these two must be an impostor.】
【But that doesn’t make sense. After one kill, the kill skill has a cooldown. Trading one for one is basically suicide. There are fewer impostors than crewmates, it’s not worth it.】
【What if… both of them are impostors?】
【Ari-chan, stop doing tasks and run away!】
“Yeah, yeah, you’re right, you’re right. I should run.”
Lin Lin nodded quickly. This place was not safe. She even felt like doing this task didn’t matter anymore.
Okay, not exactly. It’s just that each crewmate has more than one task, so Lin Lin could temporarily switch to another one.
She spun around in place, using her actions to say, “Please stop following me,” then quickly ran away.
Only Dog Bro and Gao Ye were left behind, their little game characters staring at each other.
