Chapter 272: Sharp Mouth, Honest Body
“This car costs over a few hundred thousand, you know~”
“And An Han isn’t as naughty as before. After becoming a girl she became so well-behaved, pretty and thoughtful~”
“Why? I don’t really know how to explain it. Later I’ll let An Han show you her health report. When you see it, you’ll understand.”
After her mother finished showing off Su Peng’s car, she started showing off her daughter.
Among the cousins of the same age, An Han’s looks were the most outstanding. Now her personality was also not as wild and troublesome as before. Compared to before, she was a lot better.
“Hey! I win!” Her mother’s eyes lit up and she pushed over her row of mahjong tiles.
Her luck was good today. She had played two rounds of mahjong with her sisters this afternoon and won a few hundred yuan of pocket money. She also received a lot of jealous looks from them, so her mood was extremely good.
She was chatting happily when she suddenly turned around and saw the three people coming back from the fields.
Her smiling face instantly turned dark. The happy mood disappeared.
A moment ago her eldest daughter still looked young and pretty. Now her palms were completely black, the corner of her mouth had smudged charcoal ash, and her whole image was no longer that of a lovely fairy, more like an ugly duckling.
The younger daughter looked even more shocking. Her fair little face was covered with dirt, and her new New Year clothes were dirty all over. At first glance, she looked like a refugee from somewhere.
“Mom! Do you want roasted sweet potato?” Her little Sister happily ran forward holding the roasted sweet potatoes. She proudly handed her mother one with a burnt shell. “I roasted it myself! Big Sister said it tastes good!”
Her mother’s expression turned as black as charcoal.
“Auntie! Do you want one?” Seeing her mother didn’t respond, her little sister handed a sweet potato to another relative. “I roasted a lot!”
Her grandpa stood behind her little sister with a happy smile. Since it was her grandpa who caused all of this, her mother couldn’t explode. She forced a smile and accepted one.
“Hurry, go wash your hands and face. And your clothes… wipe them with a wet towel.”
An Han instinctively walked softly, quietly passed her mother, then ran straight to the bathroom.
Her little sister was still too innocent. It was fine now, but it didn’t mean she wouldn’t get scolded after going home.
Inside the bathroom, An Han washed all the black marks on her hands and lips clean, and finally breathed a sigh of relief.
After they returned from roasting sweet potatoes, it was already evening, time for dinner.
The family set up a big round table, and everyone just fit around it.
An Han sat between her mother and sister. Her father sat on little Sister’s side. Once he sat down, he behaved very properly, eyes down, quiet and calm.
He had none of the arrogant attitude he showed in front of Su Peng. When he talked to relatives, he smiled politely.
Even the uncles at the table looked nervous…
An Han looked at them like she had discovered a new world.
She had always thought her uncles were simply serious men. But after realizing her father wasn’t liked by her grandpa either, she understood something:
Maybe every man who married one of her grandpa’s daughters… wasn’t very liked.
Was her grandpa an extreme daughter-protector?
Even though it was New Year and a family gathering, the table talk was still just simple daily life topics, so An Han couldn’t join in.
When she was still male, she could chat with a few close cousins about games during New Year visits, or go outside and cause trouble with them.
But now, facing her male cousins made her feel a bit shy. So after eating, she moved a small stool to the doorway and sat there alone playing on her phone.
By the time they were ready to go home, it was already eight in the evening.
An Han called Su Peng ahead of time, but she couldn’t reach him. She looked at the car parked in front of the door, not knowing what to do.
“Maybe… just leave it here?” She asked her mother carefully.
“Try calling him again?”
There was no parking lot or cameras here. Her mother was worried that if the car stayed overnight, some naughty kids might scratch it.
During the New Year, naughty kids were everywhere. You had to be careful.
And this place wasn’t busy at night either, few people passed by. If someone stole something from the car, it would be troublesome.
“I still can’t get through~” An Han sighed and took the car key from her pocket, then looked at her father. “Dad, why don’t you drive it? At least drive it back home.”
“Me?” Her father froze for a moment, then turned his head away. “I’m not driving that brat’s car! I’ll just ride my electric scooter.”
They had only just stepped out of Grandpa’s house… And the obedient, humble attitude he showed earlier had already disappeared.
“Driving it back is safer.”
“It’ll cost a lot if the paint gets scratched…” Her father muttered.
An Han stuffed the car key into his hand. “Here, try driving a few rounds first to get used to it.”
Her father looked unwilling, but once he opened the door and got in, the unwilling look quickly changed into excitement. He touched this and poked that, excited like a child who just got a new toy.
“Expensive cars really are different,” he said with amazement.
Through the open car window, An Han clearly saw his change.
“Mom, is Dad actually a tsundere?”
“Tsundere?” Her mother wasn’t familiar with the word and shook her head in confusion.
“It means someone whose mouth says ‘no’ but their body is very honest.”
“Huh?” Her mother still looked confused.
Most men liked cars. Before, An Han wasn’t sure, but seeing her father like this, he was obviously one of them.
Su Peng’s plan worked!
After driving such a good car, her father might think about it for days. Maybe soon he would lower his pride and ask Su Peng to borrow it… Or he might insist on buying his own even if he had to sell everything…
After driving around the road twice, her father parked the car in front of them again. He opened the window and called out.
“Get in!”
This car was really different from the cheap ones worth only a few tens of thousands. It felt completely different to drive.
Her father was in a very good mood, but once An Han got in, she leaned on the back of his seat and teased,
“Dad, didn’t you say you wouldn’t drive Su Peng’s car? Why do you look so happy?”
“Put on your seatbelt,” Her father changed the topic and kept a straight face. “People in the back seat too, get into good habits.”
“Daring to tease your dad now?” Her mother sat in the front passenger seat and turned back with a smile. “When did you two get so close?”
“I’ve always had a good relationship with my daughter,” Her father said.
As if!
He used to forget to send living expenses when she was in college.
During past New Year visits, the total number of sentences exchanged didn’t even reach ten.
Leaning back in her seat, An Han suddenly felt she had somehow become much closer to her parents.
Was it because the chest binder increased their affection?
No, this was clearly because of her own hard work!
[Father: Favorability 89]
She hadn’t checked for a few days, and now she saw that her father’s favorability toward her had risen to almost ninety.
