Chapter 275: Early Morning
“You got your period, so you must drink warm water, understand?!”
An Han jumped up from the bed and grabbed her sister’s hand just as she was about to pour cold water.
She spoke seriously, almost pleading, “Just keep drinking warm water for these two days. After that, it won’t matter anymore.”
“Eh?” Her sister looked at her in confusion.
“The weather is cold right now. Drinking this will make your stomach hurt! Very, very painful!” She warned with a strict face, “Do you want to suffer all night again like yesterday?”
Remembering last night’s pain that kept her awake, her sister’s shoulders trembled a little, and she looked scared.
“But it’s so troublesome…”
“It’s okay, I’ll boil water for you.”
An Han smiled, took the cup and the electric kettle, and finally let out a breath of relief.
She originally thought the mission would finish after she helped her sister carry the pain once. But it looked like she had to help her sister get through her whole period.
As for transferring all her sister’s period pain to herself every month?
Impossible.
The system might be annoying, but the reward was giving her sister a pain-free period, not transferring An Han’s own traits to her.
If it really tried to transfer her traits, she would refuse for sure!
Without time to wash her face or tidy herself, An Han carried the kettle downstairs. She reminded her sister again, “When you wash your face and brush your teeth, use warm water.”
“I know!”
Kids were good in this way, they weren’t stubborn forever. They learn after getting hurt. If they don’t learn, it usually means they weren’t hurt enough or the punishment was too light.
Yesterday’s pain was still fresh in her sister’s memory, so she wouldn’t mess around again.
Reaching the first floor, An Han started boiling water. She sat at the dining table, gently rubbing her belly, her eyebrows slightly pulled together.
Even though the pain was only mild, it was constant, which made her feel irritated and uneasy.
It was like having a mosquito buzz around your ear nonstop. You can’t hit it, you can’t chase it away, you just lie there annoyed, eyes closed, trying to endure it…
“It’s all my sister’s fault for eating the wrong things.” An Han muttered, praising herself, “How can there be such a good sister like me~”
While she was waiting for the water to boil, her mother came downstairs too.
She looked worried and asked, “Did your sister’s stomach hurt last night? Is she better now?”
“Yeah, she’s full of energy.”
Unlike me…
An Han sighed softly.
“I have a bit of diarrhea. Today, except for mealtime, don’t call me downstairs.”
“Want some medicine?”
“I don’t want medicine…”
“Montmorillonite powder. It’s sweet. Not bad.”
She kept shaking her head strongly. “No!”
Her mother sighed helplessly. Then she noticed the kettle had finished boiling, so she came over and poured the hot water into a big insulated thermos.
Only then did An Han realize their house had such a huge silver-colored thermos. She rarely drank warm water, always bottled water or sugar-free cola, so she had never even noticed it sitting near the sink all this time.
“Mom, you need to watch my sister these two days. Don’t let her drink cold things, or she’ll be in pain again tonight and won’t be able to sleep.”
Her mother looked like she didn’t mind too much.
“I’ve told her more than ten times. Yesterday I even boiled water for her, but she just wouldn’t listen.”
“Well, now she knows how painful it is. Let’s see if she dares again.”
Yesterday’s “humble bragging” in front of her sister had put their mother in a very good mood. She kept a small smile on her face. But just as she took two eggs from the fridge, she suddenly turned and noticed An Han’s pale face.
“You don’t look well. Are you sure you don’t need medicine?”
“I’m fine.”
An Han rested her chin in her hands on the table, yawning as she shook her head.
“I just didn’t sleep well. My sister kept fussing for a long time before she finally fell asleep, and I even caught a chill because of her.”
She had finally found an excuse that made sense.
There was a knock on the iron gate. An Han looked up and saw Su Peng’s warm smile through the metal bars.
The pain in her belly seemed to disappear instantly, and her pale face turned rosy. She grabbed the keys from the table and happily ran to open the door.
“Your car key!” She excitedly shared what happened yesterday. “Yesterday my dad still refused to drive at first, but after sitting in it for a few minutes and driving around once, he got as happy as a little kid!”
“Right?”
“The plan worked!” An Han smiled brightly and stepped aside to let Su Peng in. “Mom, make one more breakfast?”
After hearing their conversation, her mother nodded with a complicated expression. “Got it.”
Her daughter was basically teaming up with an outsider to scheme against her own father… She felt that if she firmly stopped An Han from being with Su Peng, the girl might steal the household registration book and secretly get a marriage certificate.
“Auntie! Let me help you!” Su Peng walked over with a big bright smile.
Her mother froze for a second, then quickly waved her hand.
“You go watch TV with An Han, or help her sister with homework. It’s just breakfast, I don’t need help.”
“Alright.”
He had only said it out of politeness anyway, he knew very well that he was not good at housework.
As they walked to the living room, he noticed An Han didn’t seem very energetic. Her hand kept moving to her stomach from time to time.
They sat side by side on the sofa, turned on the TV, and then Su Peng finally asked with concern, “Your stomach hurts?”
“It’s okay. I caught a cold.” An Han pulled a thin blanket over herself.
“Should I buy you some medicine?”
“No need?”
Su Peng’s tone suddenly became firm. His eyebrows tightened. “If I’m telling you to take medicine, then take it! You’ll get better faster!”
“Okay~ The medicine is at home, in the box under the table.” She turned her head away, muttering unhappily, “Why are you being so fierce…”
If taking some medicine helped Su Peng and her family stop worrying, she didn’t mind.
She watched Su Peng crouch down, take the medicine box, find a packet of Montmorillonite powder, and hurry off to prepare it with hot water.
She didn’t hate Su Peng’s occasional firmness at all. In fact, she felt a warm, cared-for feeling.
An Han leaned back on the sofa, waiting for the medicine. The pain in her belly grew lighter and lighter. It seemed her sister really was scared of the pain, since she didn’t do anything reckless this time.
“Stop right there!” Her father’s sudden voice came from upstairs.
Su Peng, who was pouring hot water into the cup, jumped in fright. His hand shook, and he almost burned himself.
Moments later, her father walked down the stairs, came up beside him, looked down at the cup, and frowned hard.
“You should use warm water.”
“Oh… I see.” Su Peng stepped aside, feeling guilty.
“You don’t know anything. How are you supposed to take good care of my daughter in the future?”
Her father complained quietly as he mixed the powder with warm water. Then he carried the cup over and sat down heavily beside An Han.
He looked in a terrible mood and continued muttering, “He even dared to talk harshly to my daughter…”
An Han was a bit over twenty now, and in all those years, her father had never scolded her even once. Not to mention hitting her.
“Here, drink. If you’re not better tonight, we’ll go to the hospital.”
It seemed her father’s opinion of Su Peng was still deep in the negative…
He must have been secretly watching from upstairs. Otherwise, how could he have heard what Su Peng said?
