Chapter 276: Remember the Good, Forget the Pain

After breakfast, ignoring her father’s always–dark face, An Han secretly slipped out with Su Peng to the street.

Every time her father met Su Peng, the atmosphere was full of tension, like gunpowder ready to explode. This made her worry whether the two of them would ever get along.

After all, some people are just born to clash. Just like her and Chen Junjie.

They had lived in the same dorm for almost three years and still argued every day. Even though Chen Junjie liked her more now, they still fought whenever they met.

“What should we do…”

An Han looked a bit troubled on her face, but her steps were still light. Her big eyes curved like a smiling crescent moon as she looked at Su Peng.

Why is it that in other families, once they have a good future son-in-law, the parents treat him warmly, afraid he might run away?

But she and Su Peng were only dating, and her parents disliked him more and more the longer they knew him.

And Su Peng was clearly good-looking, capable, and even came from a wealthy family.

“At least Auntie doesn’t reject me that much now.”

Although her mother didn’t dislike him too strongly, it was obvious she only treated him with a little politeness and helplessness.

An Han quietly glanced behind her and saw someone sneaking around.

Her father, of course.

She kept a small distance from Su Peng and asked, “Why did you suddenly ask me to come out? Won’t it be bad if my parents find out?”

“I have to go back tomorrow. Something came up at home.”

Su Peng kept his hands in his coat pockets. Sometimes he looked at the street around them, but most of the time his eyes stayed on her pretty side profile.

“I see…” An Han stopped walking, suddenly looking down and losing energy.

These past two days she hadn’t had much time to go out with him, but at least she saw him every day, even if it was just watching his embarrassing interactions with her parents. It was still better than being separated by a hundred kilometers and only talking online.

“It’s okay. School starts in ten days. I’ll pick you up at the station then.”

“Mm.”

Su Peng clearly saw how her eyes dimmed.

He gently reached out, rubbed her small head, and comforted her softly, “So today, let’s go out and have a really good time, okay?”

“But my stomach doesn’t feel very good…”

Even though her sister behaved today, the stomach pain from drinking cold milk yesterday was still coming and going.

An Han told herself that this was something most girls naturally experienced. It was a part of becoming a woman. But the nonstop dull pain still ruined her mood and drained her energy.

No wonder people always said not to mess with girls during their period.

“Then we can just find a place to sit and rest?” Su Peng pulled his right hand out of his pocket, and between his fingers was a flower. “What do you think? Pretty, right?”

An Han gave him a side-eye. “Not pretty.”

“Uh…” Su Peng’s smile froze on his face.

“It’s too fancy.”

“…Okay…”

Even though she had become a girl and was softer in personality, her straight-man way of thinking was still deeply rooted inside.

Frowning unhappily, An Han still took the rose. Her tone sounded annoyed as she said, “Fine, just this time. But don’t buy this kind of useless stuff again. It’s useless and expensive.”

A single rose cost about ten yuan. Enough for her to buy snacks at a street stall.

“I just wanted to be a little romantic…”

An Han didn’t care for this kind of fake romance. She plucked at the rose petals and muttered, “Being simple and ordinary is the most romantic.”

“Really?”

“Mm!”

Especially after getting that stupid dog-like system, all she wanted now was a normal, peaceful life.

She didn’t care about houses, cars, or big amounts of money! She had already missed countless chances anyway.

She only hoped the system would not give her another mission that crossed her moral boundaries and embarrassed her again.

Her limits were already very low, yet the system still kept pushing them.

The two of them slowly walked to a quiet street with almost no people.

The street still had the same old stone pavement from decades ago. On both sides were clothing shops with very few customers. Sometimes someone passed by, but only because they were taking a shortcut.

“There’s no way out at the end. Let’s go back.”

Just as An Han turned around to leave, Su Peng suddenly grabbed her hand.

She looked back at him in surprise, and her face became hot when she saw the fiery, slightly aggressive look in his eyes.

Ever since that time she flirted with him and officially became his girlfriend, the two of them rarely had chances to talk alone.

Now that they finally had a private moment, of course Su Peng had a little “thought” in his mind.

“Don’t mess around, we’re in public.” An Han knew exactly what he wanted to do and glared at him. “And my stomach hurts. I’m not in the mood.”

His expression calmed a little. He let go of her hand, sounding disappointed. “Okay…”

“And my dad is following behind us.” She whispered.

“!!!”

Su Peng panicked and quickly turned his head, but An Han pulled his arm hard.

“Pretend you don’t know!”

“If your dad beats me up, will you help me or help him…”

He felt a chill. If he had suddenly kissed her just now, then he might have been suddenly hit by his future father-in-law.

One action would be a kiss. The other could be a brick to the back of his head.

“I would call the police and also call 120.”

“...How did you notice him?”

Because among all the people on the street, only her father looked at her with worry and affection, which sometimes turned into anger. Especially just now when Su Peng grabbed her hand. She felt her father’s anger clearly from his eyes.

“He wasn’t even hiding. He was just openly following us. You just didn’t look back.”

Cold sweat formed on Su Peng’s back. He used the corner of his eyes to glance around and really saw that scary figure standing in a corner.

Too frightening.

“Isn’t Uncle… going too far?”

An Han glanced at her father’s favorability score and sighed. “Actually… it’s pretty normal.”

After all, his favorability was now over 90.

But she hadn’t done anything special these two days! His favorability was rising even faster than when she wore the tube top back then.

As it kept going up, she started worrying again. What if fatherly love became… strange?

Just as she was worrying, she suddenly felt the pain in her lower belly getting stronger.

Her face instantly turned pale. Her hands went to her stomach, and her shoulders curled up from the pain.

Su Peng noticed right away. “What’s wrong? Are you okay?”

“My stomach hurts. It’ll be fine if I go home and use the bathroom…”

She continued using the same excuse to explain her condition.

The pain wasn’t as sharp as last night, but the sore, cramping feeling was spreading toward her hips and thighs, making her legs tremble slightly as she walked.

Her sister must have eaten something she shouldn’t again!

An Han cursed angrily inside.

So she only remembers the food, not the pain!?

She tried her best to keep a normal posture so that Su Peng and her secretly-following father wouldn’t worry too much.

“Let’s go. Let’s go back.”
