Chapter 277: Confident and Righteous
When Su Peng saw An Han’s little face tighten up and turn pale, with her eyebrows deeply furrowed, his heart hurt for her.
It was the middle of winter, yet her nose already had a bit of sweat from the pain. Her calves trembled slightly as she walked, but her voice still sounded bright and cheerful like usual.
She even smiled a little when she spoke.
“Let’s go back. If I lie down for a while, I’ll be fine.”
Right now, An Han could only think about making her little sister properly feel her older sister’s strong and overwhelming “love.”
Su Peng looked at her with worry. Seeing her hands pressed tightly on her lower belly, and her lips losing all their color, he quickly understood. This girl was just pretending to be strong.
This made Su Peng’s heart ache even more.
In this situation, any man’s protective instinct would explode. All he could think about was holding her in his arms and helping her through the pain.
Once his protective instinct kicked in, Su Peng completely forgot her father was nearby.
He stepped forward and grabbed her arm to support her.
“What are you doing? My dad is still here!”
“It’s fine. At most he’ll just beat me up.”
He lifted her arm onto his shoulder and supported her roughly 50-kilogram body. Their arms touched, and he could clearly feel her slight trembling.
“Does it hurt a lot? Should we go to the hospital?”
Su Peng was already preparing to ignore her objections and directly pick her up to carry her to the hospital.
But An Han shook her head firmly. “It’s okay. It’s really just that my stomach got cold.”
Unfortunately, her period had ended only a few days ago, and Su Peng and her family knew her cycle.
She had to act normal, otherwise she couldn’t explain her pain. She was even worried they would drag her to the hospital.
But this only made Su Peng misunderstand her more. Seeing her pretend to be strong made his heart tighten painfully.
“Don’t force yourself.”
“It should be fine by noon. Don’t worry.”
Once she got home and taught her sister a lesson so she would never dare eat the wrong food again, the transferred pain should relax in a few hours.
At that moment, An Han felt the mission she chose was basically putting her on a grill to roast alive.
She should never have been soft-hearted about her sister’s period pain!
Su Peng had walked with her less than ten meters when another figure rushed over.
Her father.
He didn’t care at all that Su Peng’s dirty hands were touching his daughter. He asked anxiously, “What’s wrong? Where do you feel bad? Should I call 120!?”
“Dad, don’t be like Su Peng and overreact, okay?”
An Han sighed helplessly.
“I’m already in my twenties. If something serious happened, I’d go to the hospital myself. And you and Mom are at home, it’s not like I’m here by myself”
Her father thought she had a point, but he still wanted to insist.
“Also, why are you here?” An Han pretended not to know. “Didn’t you say you were meeting your friends?”
“I don’t trust this kid.”
Who knows what this brat planned to do after sneaking off with An Han?
Her father glanced at Su Peng.
“Move aside. I’ll take her.”
“Okay, Uncle.”
Su Peng always acted obedient in front of her parents.
They hadn’t even walked a full kilometer, yet now both men were escorting An Han back home.
Her mother had gone out to play mahjong and wouldn’t return until close to noon to cook. Normally she would be buying groceries now, but yesterday she bought a lot with Su Peng’s help, along with some New Year goods. The food would last for many days.
As soon as they entered the house, An Han suddenly looked more energetic.
She pulled away from her father’s support, her eyes filled with fire as she scanned the entire first floor.
“Where is my sister?”
“Maybe she went to play on your computer?”
Her father was busy pouring hot water for An Han, and Su Peng was again digging through the medicine box, trying to find something stronger.
“Stop looking. I’ll be fine after I go to the bathroom.”
An Han quickly took off her shoes and marched upstairs with anger.
Her lower-belly pain even seemed to lessen a bit because she was so determined.
Soon, she reached the third-floor bedroom. When she opened the door, she saw her little sister sitting properly at the desk, carefully doing homework stroke by stroke.
She glanced around. She saw a thermos filled with warm water, but no drink bottles.
“Sister!” Her sister turned her head, excited to show off. “I’ve been doing homework the whole time! Can I play on the computer now?!”
She looked up with a bright smile, her big eyes full of expectation.
An Han said nothing. She walked to the computer and glanced at the mouse and keyboard. they had clearly been moved. Then she bent down and touched the computer tower under the desk.
The warm case told her everything she needed to know.
Only then did she look back at her sister. Her sister’s eyes were darting around nervously, and she tried to change the subject.
“Sister, why is your walking so weird? Does your stomach still hurt? Mom even added another blanket for us.”
“Did you drink something cold?”
“No! I’m scared of pain!” Her sister shook her head fast. “Sister, if your stomach hurts, go to the bathroom! I still have homework to do!”
“What if… you want this hand warmer?”
Her sister picked up the charging hand warmer and offered it with a pleasing smile.
But An Han took the hand warmer and put it on her sister’s lap.
“You use it.”
“My stomach doesn’t hurt.”
“Don’t you know exactly what you did?”
Her sister shrank back immediately, pressing the hand warmer to her belly, but still tried to argue, “I didn’t do anything…”
An Han didn’t find any direct evidence. She checked the trash can, and she touched the thermos—yes, it was full of hot water.
But if the girl really didn’t do anything, there was no reason the transferred pain would suddenly get worse.
She looked at her sister suspiciously/ Then she noticed something, the ends of her sister’s hair were damp.
“You washed your hair?”
“I haven’t washed it for days!”
“With cold water?”
“With warm water! I’m not stupid!”
An Han pressed her lips together and lifted some of her sister’s hair with her hand. As she expected, only the outer layer was dry, the rest was wet and cold.
This brat… too lazy to blow-dry her hair…
And during your period, you really shouldn’t wash your hair. And even if you do, you MUST dry it.
An Han sighed hopelessly. “Didn’t Mom tell you not to wash your hair during your period, or at least to dry it well if you do?”
“I don’t think she said that? Anyway, I feel fine!”
The idea of hitting her sister had already faded a bit. But the moment she heard that sentence, her blood pressure shot straight up.
Her sister looked into her eyes, suddenly jumped up from the chair, and in the next second—
The slap An Han aimed at the back of her head hit nothing but air.
“Dad! Mom! Sister is trying to kill me!!”
Like a frightened rabbit, she screamed and ran out of the room.
An Han tried to chase her, but after only two steps her stomach hurt so much she fell onto the edge of the bed, clutching her belly in anger.
“I swear I’m never taking this kind of stupid task again!”
“When will my sister’s period finally end…”
She lay back on the bed and groaned.
Once the task was done, she would never have to suffer like this again.
