Chapter 278: Three Simple Rules

“Do you feel better now?”

“Mm.”

After catching her little sister, pushing her into the bathroom, fully blow-drying her hair, forcing her to drink hot water, and giving her a hand warmer, An Han’s condition clearly improved.

She didn’t hit her sister, she couldn’t bring herself to do it. Otherwise she would have slapped her into crying long ago, instead of giving her the chance to run away.

But her face still didn’t look good. She seemed tired. Now she sat curled up at the head of the bed, hugging her knees, looking very weak.

Seeing that her condition was a bit better, her father let out a breath and placed lunch on the computer desk.

“I told you to go to the hospital, but you refused no matter what.”

“But I’m already fine now.”

An Han raised her head and looked at Su Peng, who was hesitating at the door.

“Why aren’t you coming in?”

“Well…”

Even without considering whether it was proper to enter a girl’s bedroom, just looking at his future father-in-law’s fiery eyes, Su Peng suspected that if he took one step into the room, his legs might be broken on the spot.

He didn’t dare to enter. He could only stand at the doorway, staring at the weak-looking An Han with worry, but too scared to move, afraid he would lower the father’s opinion of him even more.

Her father glanced sideways at Su Peng, frowned, but finally sighed helplessly.

“You eat first. I’ll come up to clean later.”

“Okay.”

After her father left the room, An Han’s eyes lit up. She quickly waved at Su Peng.

Only after hearing the father go downstairs did Su Peng hurry into the room.

The bedroom didn’t look like a typical girl’s room.

There were no cute decorations, no pink wallpapers. Just a bed, a wardrobe, a computer desk, and a study desk. Aside from the faint sweet smell that belonged only to a girl, it looked like any normal room.

He moved beside An Han and supported her like she was a seriously ill patient. His face was full of caution.

“Be careful.”

“I’m not unable to walk, okay? And my stomach doesn’t hurt anymore.”

An Han muttered, a bit annoyed, but let him help her sit at the computer desk.

Her father had prepared the meal in several small bowls. She picked up her chopsticks and was about to eat when she suddenly looked up at Su Peng.

“Why are you staring at me like that?”

“……”

“Did you eat already?”

“Yeah, I ate downstairs.”

An Han nodded. Then she turned toward the door again. Seeing this, Su Peng also quickly turned to check, but her father wasn’t there.

He really thought the father might be secretly watching again.

Su Peng already had a bit of a psychological shadow because of him.

He pulled a chair over and sat next to her, asking with concern, “How do you feel now?”

“I’m okay. It doesn’t hurt.”

“That’s good.”

Only now did An Han understand why some girls liked to act pitiful and act spoiled. Because being protected and cared for by a man… felt really good~

Even just a few words of concern made her mood lighter. It was a pity Su Peng was leaving tomorrow.

“Drink some soup. It’ll warm your stomach.” Su Peng moved the bowl of pork-rib soup closer. “Wear thicker clothes normally, and be more careful at night too.”

“Okay~”

She usually disliked drinking soup, but this time she obediently took a few sips.

“You’re leaving tomorrow?”

“The day after tomorrow. I’m still a bit worried…” Su Peng paused, then smiled helplessly. “But your parents can take good care of you.”

“Mm.”

He rested his cheek in one hand, leaning on the desk, watching An Han eat slowly and elegantly.

Sunlight from the window fell onto her skin, making her look like a glowing painting.

Without An Han’s parents interrupting, Su Peng simply sat there, blankly watching her eat. His emotions grew calmer and softer. The winter cold stung his skin, but his heart felt warm.

“Sister! Sister!” her little sister suddenly rushed over noisily. “Mom cooked another bowl of food!”

She held a small bowl filled with fresh stir-fried bitter melon and put it on the desk.

“Mom said you have to eat all of this! No leftovers!”

“That’s… a lot…” An Han frowned. She hated bitter melon.

“Well, your body isn’t good!”

It’s all your fault!

An Han glared at her sister, then picked up the bitter melon and pushed it toward Su Peng’s mouth.

“You eat this.”

“And eat these tomatoes too. I only like the fried eggs.”

“Eat more of this chive dish. I don’t like it.”

Su Peng froze, but he subconsciously accepted each bite she fed him.

“Sister! That’s indirect kissing!” Her sister shouted from the side.

An Han raised her hand and smacked her on the butt.

“If you dare tell Mom and Dad, I won’t let you off tonight!”

After generously giving Su Peng all the dishes she didn’t like, the bowl only had meat left. Feeling a bit embarrassed, she even put the best sweet-and-sour pork into Su Peng’s mouth.

“This is too sweet… kind of sour.”

“I like sweet food.”

Su Peng nodded silently. He was already thinking he should ask the cook at home to learn more sweet dishes so that when An Han visited, she could eat the flavors she liked.

“Dad! They’re being lovey-dovey!” Her sister suddenly squealed.

Su Peng shivered and quickly turned toward the door. He saw that figure standing there, no one knew how long he had been watching.

He stood up at once, but An Han pulled him back down.

She lifted her eyebrows at her father, showing her attitude clearly.

“Finished eating?” her father asked, expressionless and calm.

“Yes.”

An Han grabbed her bowl and shoveled food quickly.

A moment ago she was acting like a gentle lady in front of Su Peng, eating slowly and gracefully. Now she ate fast and without any image at all.

Her father stepped forward and took the dishes.

“Su Peng, come downstairs with me. Don’t disturb An Han’s rest.”

“Okay.”

Su Peng understood this was when his future father-in-law wanted to talk seriously.

He grew nervous. Feeling An Han’s worried gaze behind him, he turned back and gave her a reassuring smile.

Her little sister wanted to follow and watch, but An Han grabbed her arm.

“You stay here and do your homework!”

“Oh…” The sister looked at the cola on the desk and whispered, “Sister, I want to drink cold cola.”

“You can drink it in a couple days.”

“But you have a stomachache too, and you drank it.”

An Han rolled up her sleeves. The sister shrank her head and quickly sat at her small desk.

“Don’t eat or drink random things!”

An Han knocked her sister’s head lightly, then ran out of the room barefoot, tiptoeing down the stairs. She stopped halfway between the first and second floor.

She couldn’t see her father and Su Peng from here, but she could hear them clearly.

“Before marriage, you are NOT allowed to touch her!”

“Yes, sir!”

“Engagement and marriage must wait until An Han is at least twenty-five.”

“Okay!”

“If she ever gets hurt, I’ll—”

“I’ll slap myself first.”

So these were the three big rules, huh?
