Chapter 286: New Home

In the evening, An Han followed behind her parents and held her little sister’s hand as they walked into an old apartment complex near the school.

This neighborhood… looked really familiar.

“We rented a two-bedroom apartment for you here. Your dad will pay the rent to the landlord every month, you don’t need to worry,” her mother explained.

An Han nodded as she listened.

“The rent here is quite cheap, and the decoration is pretty good. The only problem is that the building is old and there’s no elevator.”

“No elevator?” She looked up at the seven-story building and suddenly remembered last year.

Wasn’t Counselor Ren Chi’s apartment also in this neighborhood?

Last year, when she helped Ren Chi move, she came here. At that time, she even found women’s clothes in his closet, but he fooled her successfully…

Thinking about it now, she could only say his mental strength was truly amazing. Even when she tested him earlier today, his face didn’t change at all, not even a little blush.

She had even twisted her ankle in this neighborhood once, which triggered a system mission, and Ren Chi ended up sending her back to school.

“Mm, because there’s no elevator, the higher floors are cheaper. But your dad rented the most expensive first floor for you…”

Her father cut in, “Going up and down seven floors every day, how could An Han handle that? And it’s easy to be late.”

Her mother glanced at him with disdain, completely unable to understand how her husband turned into such a daughter-spoiling dad.

How long had it even been?

“Sister! Will you be scared living alone?” her little sister asked with big innocent eyes. “If you get scared, will you ask Brother Su Peng to keep you company?”

“……”

Only then did her father suddenly react. He looked at An Han with shock and suspicion.

“Even if it’s a two-bedroom place, you must NOT bring anyone home!”

“Don’t listen to my sister’s nonsense,” An Han sighed helplessly. “How could I possibly bring someone back to the apartment?”

Her mother gave her a meaningful look.

She knew that last semester, An Han’s rental apartment shared a wall with Su Peng’s room, basically the same as living together.

And because of that, she specifically chose a building with only two apartments per floor, and the first through fourth floors were all already occupied. Even if Su Peng wanted to use money to solve things, the earliest floor he could rent would be the fifth.

At least it wouldn’t be that easy for them to visit each other now.

Inside the stairwell, An Han confirmed that this building was not the same one as Ren Chi’s, and she finally relaxed.

When her mother opened the door with the key, An Han rushed inside excitedly.

The interior was much nicer than she expected. The furniture was complete, TV, air conditioner, washing machine, everything. The space wasn’t large and felt a bit tight for a two-bedroom apartment, but it was definitely more than enough for one person.

Realizing that there was an extra empty room, An Han instantly started planning in her mind to turn it into a computer room…

A triple-monitor setup, surround-sound speakers, RGB lighting everywhere, and a professional gaming chair!

Too bad she could only imagine it, she had no money.

“The previous owners moved abroad, so the place is empty now. You need to clean it once every two or three days, don’t be lazy,” her mother reminded. “As for water and electricity, remember to pay at the property office. Someone will come in a couple of days to set up the internet. I got you a 100-megabit plan, so remember to pay the monthly fee.”

“Okay, okay!”

She had to admit, her parents handled things so well! They arrived at the school around noon, and by mid-afternoon, everything had already been arranged perfectly.

After walking around for a bit, she finished exploring the two-bedroom place in a few minutes.

Because this apartment was originally used for living, the decoration was high quality. After looking around, she realized this place was actually nicer than her own home.

It was just a bit far from school. From here to the teaching building, it would take about half an hour on foot.

“Mom, I also want to live alone in such a big place in the future… How about I live here with my sister? I’ll study here when I start eighth grade!”

“What are you talking about!” Her mother glared at her.

“There’s an empty room anyway. Instead of letting brother Su Peng stay there, it’s better to let me use it…”

An Han’s fists tightened as she listened.

Her little sister just didn’t want her and Su Peng to have an easy time together!

It was just a set of practice books that he gave you. Do you need to be this petty? He did it for your own good!

“Alright, let’s do a big clean-up first, then go downstairs to eat,” her mother stopped their arguing and rolled up her sleeves to pick up the mop. “Let’s try to let An Han move in tonight!”

“Okay,” her father said, but he was looking thoughtfully at the second bedroom, wondering if he should remove the bed inside.

Originally, if Su Peng came over, he could just sleep in the second bedroom. If he removed the bed, wouldn’t that idiot boy try to make his daughter share a bed with him instead?

And those so-called ‘three rules’? If he wasn’t around, they would have no effect at all! Even if Su Peng broke the rules, as long as An Han helped hide it, no one would know.

The more he thought about it, the more uneasy he felt, pacing back and forth anxiously.

“Stop walking around. Go wipe the windows,” her mother said while throwing a cloth into his arms.

After moving into this apartment, they would basically be living in the same neighborhood as Counselor Ren Chi.

While cleaning with her family, An Han kept thinking about Long Xing and Ren Chi.

If Long Xing never realizes that the girl he fell in love with is actually Ren Chi in women’s clothes, then letting things pass quietly would be the best outcome.

Having a personal hobby like cross-dressing is fine as long as no one knows, but if Ren Chi’s cross-dressing gets exposed and becomes widely known, he would be socially ruined in the university circle. He might even have to quit on the spot.

That was terrifying! Just imagining it from Ren Chi’s point of view made An Han feel a strong wave of second-hand embarrassment.

A counselor who was always serious, handsome, and gentle suddenly being seen as a cross-dressing weirdo, no one could accept that.

No wonder Ren Chi took the risk to come to the dorm to check on Long Xing. He wanted to test Long Xing’s reaction.

If he was recognized, he could try to keep it quiet. If he wasn’t recognized, then they could pretend nothing happened.

Suddenly, An Han realized that in Ren Chi’s eyes, she might be the biggest threat, because she was the only one who knew the “girl” was actually him in disguise.

“Would Brother Ren try to silence me?”

“Or threaten me with school records to make me stay quiet?”

After saying a few things to herself, she shook her head.

She never planned to tell anyone anyway, and she and Ren Chi were kind of close. He wasn’t a shameless person.

Looks like Long Xing had to suffer again~ Who told him to fall for someone he shouldn’t?

What kind of luck was this… three times, and all three were cross-dressing guys!

“We’re almost done. The rest can wait until tomorrow. Let’s go have dinner first?” her mother finally said after mopping the whole apartment. Her back hurt so much that she kept pressing her waist.

“Yay!”

Her little sister, who had been slacking off for an hour, jumped up excitedly.
