Chapter 291: Wife!
In the afternoon, An Han followed her parents to Ren Chi’s office to handle the school registration change.
Changing school registration normally takes several days, but thanks to Ren Chi’s help, all the required documents were already prepared. After filling in everything, the only thing left was to wait.
When everything was finally finished, her parents clearly felt relieved. But An Han still looked downcast, head lowered as she followed them out of the school gate.
When they reached the car her father had rented, her mother turned back and said,
“Your classes start tomorrow, right? Study seriously. Don’t think only about playing.”
“We’re taking your little sister to travel for two days. She reports to school the day after tomorrow.”
“Eat more fruits and vegetables. It’s good for your body. When you have time, learn makeup. Don’t be lazy with skincare, or you’ll regret it when you get older.”
An Han replied softly through her nose.
Her father also reminded her. “Don’t bring your classmates to your rented apartment. Especially Su Peng!”
“No one is allowed to stay overnight. Who knows what they may be thinking.”
“Pay attention to safety. Buy a small camera and hang it at the door. If someone knocks, check the camera first.”
They clearly focused on different things.
Her little sister joined in. “When it’s summer vacation, bring a baby home for me to play with!”
“No!” Both parents glared at her at the same time, scaring the girl into silence.
An Han suspected the child was purposely trying to make their father hate Su Peng even more.
It was just a practice booklet… was that really necessary?
“You’re living alone now, so always be careful. If you have any problems, look for your counselor. He’s a good person.”
“Mm.”
After brushing off her parents’ reminders, she watched them get into the car. The car started, slowly moved forward, and disappeared from her view.
Once again, she would be living alone. She wondered when Su Peng would arrive.
She had been looking forward to seeing him since yesterday. But now it was already the afternoon of registration day, and she still hadn’t seen him.
Ever since running into Wu Dongming, she suddenly felt a strong need to see Su Peng, to complain to him about how wronged she felt.
She hadn’t done anything wrong, yet a close friend of several years was becoming more and more distant…
She realized this problem last semester, but at that time her body was changing drastically. By final exams, she had completely become female. Both her body and mind had no energy to care about anything else.
Now that things had settled, she finally looked back and saw that she had already lost a close friend.
As for Chen Junjie… that drop in affection probably meant he couldn’t accept her current gender either.
Long Xing still had high affection toward her, but their friendship boat had already flipped long ago.
And there were her high school classmates, Shi Yi, Chen Zhiyong, the friends who struggled with her through the college entrance exam…
Walking like a wandering soul along the sidewalk outside the school, students carrying their luggage brushed past her one after another, heading toward the school gate behind her. She looked around, but couldn’t find anyone walking with her.
She found that it had become harder to control her emotions. In the past, even if she felt depressed sometimes, she could quickly distract herself.
But now, her emotions kept getting stronger. A small thing would make her think about being abandoned by her parents, or being hated by Su Peng…
The same thing happened last time when she met Lin Yue on that blind date.
“Why am I becoming more and more emotional?!”
Muttering to herself, An Han looked toward the cars passing by on the street, trying to distract herself by memorizing their license plates.
However, the situation didn’t get any better. Her mind kept thinking about all kinds of messy things. Even though it was still afternoon and the sun was bright, she had already entered a “sad music mood.”
She thought she had gotten used to living as a woman, but most of the relationships she built when she was still male had been cut off, or had changed.
Maybe she would make more friends in the future, but that group of silly old friends… would never return.
An Han walked back to the neighborhood where her rented apartment was, and stopped in front of the building.
She stepped onto the stairs and lifted her head, but her sad expression suddenly froze.
Just as always, that person retained his upright figure, the familiar gentle smile, and eyes so bright they seemed to reflect her image inside them.
“An Han!”
His voice was warm and gentle, filled with longing and affection for her.
“Su Peng… when did you get here?”
An Han stood still, staring at his face. All the dark feelings she had just moments ago were instantly swept away, like dust blown away by a warm breeze.
Without thinking, she smiled and suddenly walked faster, one step, then skipping two stairs at a time, quickly reaching Su Peng’s side. Then she immediately threw herself into his arms, like a little hamster seeking warmth and comfort.
But suddenly she felt shy, her face turned red, and she immediately burrowed her face into his chest to hide her blush, whispering shyly.
“Why didn’t you tell me you were coming to my place?”
“I wanted to give you a surprise.”
After renting the apartment, the first thing she did was send the address to Su Peng.
Su Peng touched her head gently and asked with some worry, “I saw you just now… you didn’t look very good. What happened?”
“No! I’m very happy!”
An Han quickly pulled away from his embrace, opened the door, and invited him in, her voice extra high and excited.
“Look at my new home! Two bedrooms and one living room! Super big! I live here alone!”
She proudly showed him around.
“There’s a huge TV! A huge sofa! The fridge, water heater, and air conditioner all work! And there’s even a kitchen! If we buy a pot, we can cook here!”
“Next time I’ll cook seriously and show you my skills!”
Seeing her so lively and excited, Su Peng smiled happily. The pressure he had felt at home these past few days disappeared completely, and even his body felt lighter.
When he wasn’t with An Han, his mind was full of all kinds of… restricted thoughts. But the moment he saw her, all those thoughts vanished. All he saw was her cute smile and the little dimples that could heal a person’s heart.
“Come in already! Why are you standing at the door?”
An Han squatted down and put a pair of soft slippers by the entrance.
“You can just take off your shoes outside. There’s a shoe rack.”
“What were you thinking about earlier? You looked like you were about to cry.”
Su Peng stepped on the heel of his shoe, kicked them off, and entered.
“I wasn’t!”
“Tell me.”
“No…”
An Han lifted her head but saw his serious, firm eyes. She felt guilty, lowered her head, and mumbled.
“It’s just… Wu Dongming ignored me. When I went to the dorm, he saw me but didn’t even say hi.”
That’s it?
Su Peng almost complained out loud, but he swallowed the words, closed the door behind him, and nodded seriously.
“Yeah, he’s being way too much.”
Seeing his angry expression, An Han couldn’t help laughing.
“How is that ‘too much’? It’s just a small thing. I was overthinking.”
“When I go back to the dorm later, I’ll beat him up. How dare he ignore my wife!”
“Beating him is not necessary… Wait— who’s your wife?!”
