Chapter 297: So It Was Him!
When the two of them arrived at the classroom door, they saw Ren Chi standing in the hallway, looking inside through the window.
When he saw An Han and Su Peng, Ren Chi’s face darkened. “You came after roll call is already finished! Hurry up and get inside!”
An Han rushed to the door and gently knocked. After the unfamiliar middle-aged teacher signaled, she walked to the podium and said her name.
Then she watched as the teacher drew a “late” mark next to her name on the attendance sheet.
It was fine, being late twice only counts as one absence…
She could feel all her classmates’ eyes on her. A little nervous, she lifted her head and glanced at everyone. Then she followed Su Peng and sat in an empty seat near Long Xing and Chen Junjie.
Most classmates kept staring at her. After she sat down, the classroom suddenly felt like it was filled with hundreds of buzzing mosquitoes, the noise almost lifted the roof.
“Quiet! Quiet!”
The teacher knocked on the podium with a triangle ruler.
An Han lowered her head and secretly observed the expressions of the classmates around her, especially her roommates. She didn’t notice anything strange.
“Did he lose a truth-or-dare game or something?”
“She’s way too pretty!”
“You changed sides this fast?”
“Last time An Han wore girl’s clothes, she didn’t look this good, right?”
Last semester, An Han had already worn girl’s clothes to class once, so their reactions weren’t as extreme as she imagined.
She let out a small breath of relief, but then started worrying they would discover she was actually a girl.
A boy suddenly becoming a girl, in the eyes of people who don't know the truth, means only one thing, being transgender or getting surgery. That kind of thing is much harder for people to accept than crossdressing or a pretty boy.
An Han could already imagine classmates whispering about her and staring at her with strange looks.
But she no longer had the conditions to pretend to be a boy, her chest was big enough that it couldn't be hidden. When summer comes, she will definitely be exposed.
Hiding it doesn’t solve the problem, it only delays it.
She sighed and lay down on her textbook, staring sadly at the teacher.
Actually, she didn’t really care about classmates’ gossip or even looks filled with bias or dislike. After all, she didn’t interact much with most of them. She only worried about the few friends she did have.
Like Wu Dongming, who barely talked to her anymore… and Chen Junjie, who lost affection for her after he learned her real gender…
And also Wang Sheng!
[Wang Sheng: Affection 45]
Last semester, Wang Sheng’s affection for her was above 50, but now it was just a little over 40.
As for Wu Dongming…
[Wu Dongming: Affection 21]
An Han didn’t even know what she had done to him, but his affection dropped super fast.
She sighed. She had never told Su Peng about her system, but she told Wu Dongming from the beginning.
He used to be her best friend in university. Sadly, now she had to add the word “used to.”
Among her friends, only Long Xing still treated her kindly. The others didn’t say anything, but she felt their distance. The worst was Su Peng, their friendship directly turned into a couple relationship.
Feeling hopeless, she rested her cheek on the desk, listening to people whisper about her and sensing all kinds of eyes on her. She had no mood to listen to the lesson.
“An Han.”
Long Xing leaned forward, speaking quietly. Su Peng was sitting between them, so he had to stretch his head to ask.
“Are you going to wear girl’s clothes in class from now on?”
“Yeah.”
He looked a bit worried and said, “If it’s only once or twice, it’s okay. But if you wear it every day, won’t people talk nonsense?”
“What’s there to be afraid of?” Su Peng interrupted with a cheerful smile. “If they talk nonsense, just beat them up. Then they’ll know what they can say and what they can’t say.”
Long Xing froze for a moment and turned to look at Su Peng’s still gentle and friendly smile.
His impression of Su Peng had always been that he was a bright, warm, gentle guy, even kind of like a “walking air-conditioner” who treated everyone well. But what Su Peng just said didn’t match that image at all.
An Han, however, knew Su Peng’s “dark history” of being a small delinquent in middle and high school. She also knew how strong and aggressive he could be. She rolled her eyes at him but didn’t bother responding. She just lay back down on her desk.
Just then, Ren Chi entered the classroom.
It was clear he had already talked to the class teacher. As soon as he came in, the teacher greeted him with a smile. Then the teacher walked to the doorway to wait.
“At the start of the new semester, there are some things I need to tell you.”
“This semester, our school is doing a ‘Civilized Campus’ campaign. You cannot bring breakfast into the teaching building. You cannot wear tank tops or slippers into the building. The Student Union will patrol during breaks and catch anyone smoking…”
An Han was already pretty “civilized,” so she only needed to remember the rule about breakfast. Nothing else required her attention.
She was listening without much interest when she suddenly heard Chen Junjie whisper.
“Why does the counselor’s back look a lot like the girl Brother Long likes?”
An Han instantly panicked!
Especially when Ren Chi turned around and wrote “Create a Civilized Campus” on the blackboard. She was terrified that Long Xing might agree with Chen Junjie.
“How is it the same? You just don’t want me to be happy.” Long Xing answered in a dismissive tone. “There’s no way my luck is that bad, right?”
But as he said that, he turned his head toward An Han’s tense little face and froze.
“An Han, you obviously know that girl. Why won’t you tell me? Don’t tell me… she’s actually a guy?”
“……”
Before, Long Xing thought she was joking. But seeing An Han’s expression, not knowing how to explain, his face slowly stiffened.
“She is really a guy?”
“Probably?” An Han replied uncertainly.
She hoped this information would make Long Xing give up his feelings, but she also worried it would reveal something about Ren Chi.
“I told you those legs looked like a man’s. You just didn’t believe me.”
Chen Junjie’s comment completely convinced Long Xing.
But he still wasn’t satisfied and asked, “Then who is it? Since you know him, I should know him too, right?”
“I really can’t say!” An Han shook her head wildly.
Chen Junjie analyzed seriously.
“A guy, around 1.7 meters tall. Thin legs, pretty slim. Judging from the photo, maybe only around 110 pounds. And since he looks good in girl’s clothes, in normal clothes he must be the clean, handsome type. And he’s An Han’s friend, so we probably know him too. We can even check An Han’s friend circle…”
The more An Han listened, the more nervous she became.
“Could it be Wu Dongming?!” Su Peng suddenly said with surprise.
An Han’s face instantly brightened with joy.
“……”
The boys all looked at each other. Then Long Xing and Chen Junjie slowly turned and looked toward the back, at Wu Dongming, who was resting his chin on his hands, yawning nonstop with a sleepy face.
Long Xing shook his head. “Doesn’t look like him.”
“A ghost can disguise itself as a human. Does ‘looking like’ even matter?”
Chen Junjie stroked his chin, getting more excited. “No wonder An Han didn’t want to say it, turns out it’s her buddy~”
He had already completely dropped the idea that it could be Ren Chi, since he was the counselor and that was way too unlikely.
