Chapter 48: Don’t Want to Break Up
Su Moyu didn’t dare to say anything, because she was now the one who had been “married off.”
A message suddenly popped up on her phone. She took it out and saw it was from Bai Shuchuan.
Little Darling Chuan: “Let’s go out for dinner tonight. Leave around seven.”
When Su Moyu saw that nickname, she still found it a bit funny.
Little Darling Su: “Okay.”
Bai Shuchuan looked up at his roommates.
“She said she’ll come,” he said.
“Okay, I’ll go book a table,” Qiu He said. Li Bowen raised his hand and squeezed Bai Shuchuan’s shoulder.
Bai Shuchuan frowned. Li Bowen chuckled, then patted his chest.
“Wow, you’re really well-built.”
Bai Shuchuan patted Li Bowen’s round belly in return. “Then you should start working out.”
Li Bowen smiled helplessly. “If I could, I wouldn’t be this fat.”
Qiu He cleared his throat. “The table is already booked.”
Bai Shuchuan nodded. “Then we’ll call Su Moyu when it’s time.”
“Oh wow, you’re calling her so properly,” Qiu He teased with a grin. “Why are you acting shy in front of your brothers?”
Bai Shuchuan didn’t know how to respond to that teasing.
“Sometimes you’re really too serious,” Qiu He continued.
Bai Shuchuan smiled helplessly. “I just don’t want to show off.”
“That’s a bit too much,” Qiu He said.
………………………………
Su Moyu finally finished fixing her computer. When she checked the time, it was already dinner time.
“Susu, want to go eat?” Yan Hanyue peeled off her face mask and turned to look at Qu Xintong behind her. “Xiao Tong, are you going?”
Qu Xintong was still focused on her game. Seeing no response, Su Moyu turned around to look at her, and saw that she was wearing headphones and holding a controller, playing very seriously.
Su Moyu was stunned.
Qu Xintong was ranked first in their class and second in the whole grade. A top student like her was actually playing a rpg-like game?
Su Moyu rubbed her eyes, wondering if she saw it wrong.
Since Qu Xintong didn’t answer, Yan Hanyue waited for her to finish the boss fight. Su Moyu watched in shock.
Her movement, dodging, rolling, and blocking were smooth and natural. Su Moyu couldn’t help but widen her eyes.
But in the end, one small mistake got her knocked down by the boss, and she was defeated in one combo.
“Ah, I died again,” Qu Xintong complained. Only then did Yan Hanyue pat her on the shoulder.
Qu Xintong took off her headphones and turned around, seeing Yan Hanyue behind her.
“Want to go eat together?”
“Let’s go.”
Only then did Su Moyu come back to her senses and quickly say, “I’m going out to eat with Bai Shuchuan and the others later.”
Yan Hanyue pouted, looking a bit unhappy.
“Alright, looks like our Susu has already been taken by someone,” she said.
Qu Xintong smiled. “Hanyue, weren’t you the same before? When you had a boyfriend, you were together with him every day.”
Yan Hanyue snorted softly. “Not every day. I still came to spend time with you guys, okay?”
“Alright, hurry up and go eat. I still have a lecture to attend later.”
Qu Xintong then left the room together with Yan Hanyue.
The dorm became quiet. Su Moyu looked around at the decoration. It felt warmer and more comfortable, though in fact it wasn’t that different.
Also, it didn’t have that strange smell her old dorm used to have.
“Bai Shuchuan, lend me your game account. My account doesn’t have any games,” Su Moyu sent him a message.
“The password might be different,” Bai Shuchuan replied, but he still sent his account and password.
Su Moyu logged in and saw that all her AAA games were indeed on his account.
“My computer is actually a MacBook. Now I can’t even play games.”
“You can use mine,” Bai Shuchuan said. “I’ll be going out for a part-time job soon, so I won’t have much time to play anyway.”
Su Moyu frowned. “Why do you need a part-time job?”
After she sent the message, she suddenly realized something.
“Bai Shuchuan, is it because of your dad, so your family has more financial pressure now?”
Bai Shuchuan’s name showed “typing…”
“Yes. We still need to pay the house loan, so I have to take part of the cost.”
Su Moyu swallowed. She hadn’t told her own parents about his father yet.
Even though she had no experience with marriage, she didn’t know if her parents would help share some of the house loan.
“About how much do you need to pay every month…?”
She felt a bit worried.
When she thought of house loans, she imagined something like eight or nine thousand yuan per month.
“Two thousand. It’s not that much,” Bai Shuchuan replied. “It’s just that after buying the house, the family doesn’t have much savings left.”
Su Moyu felt relieved when she saw this, but at the same time, she started to hesitate.
Could it be because of the house that his father…
She had already typed that sentence, but then deleted it.
There was no need for such guesses. The result had already happened. Thinking too much about the details would only make Bai Shuchuan feel guilty.
“Then I’ll find a job too,” Su Moyu replied.
“You don’t really need to…” Bai Shuchuan replied after a while. “After all, the house was bought by my dad. If we really divorce later, it might make things difficult for you.”
Su Moyu swallowed. That did make sense.
If she accepted property division, then all that money would go to her, and people might gossip about her.
If she didn’t accept it, then there was no need for her to help pay the loan.
“Yeah…” Su Moyu typed slowly. For some reason, she felt very uneasy inside.
“Then do your best,” she added. “If you have any problems, just tell me.”
“Okay, thank you,” Bai Shuchuan replied.
Su Moyu let out a soft breath. Looking at their chat, she felt a heavy feeling in her heart.
Divorce…
Her eyes moved to the photo beside her.
Suddenly, she didn’t really want to divorce anymore.
A faint smile appeared on her face.
Maybe life had already given her the answer. Being with Bai Shuchuan really was something that made her happy.
But could he really accept her like this?
Even she herself hadn’t fully accepted this version of herself. Would Bai Shuchuan really accept such a willful idea?
Su Moyu rested her chin on her hand and opened a game, trying to distract herself.
Maybe this was just a moment of impulse.
Maybe after a few days, when the freshness of this life faded, she would start thinking differently again.
She opened the game, trying to shift her attention away.
