Chapter 49: I Want to Drink
Soon it was time to go out. Su Moyu tidied herself up and adjusted her skirt.
She wondered what kind of relationship the “her” in this world had with Qiu He and Li Bowen.
As she walked down from the dorm building, she saw Bai Shuchuan waiting for her at the entrance.
“Let’s go,” Bai Shuchuan said. “They said they want to invite you to join us.”
Su Moyu nodded. “But… am I really close to them as a girl?”
“Just act the same as before when you’re with them,” Bai Shuchuan replied. “If you’re close, then just be natural. If not, just adapt to the situation.”
“That makes sense. Let’s go.”
The four of them met again at the school gate. Su Moyu looked at the three of them, all taller than her now, and couldn’t help but feel a strange sense of distance.
“You’re here. Let’s go then. I haven’t eaten at that barbecue place for a long time,” Qiu He said.
Su Moyu didn’t say anything. She didn’t even greet them. Qiu He and Li Bowen just glanced at her and didn’t say much either.
In fact, the place they went to was just a simple street food stall. The weather here was much warmer than her hometown. Even though she was wearing a coat, she still felt a bit hot.
“Speaking of it, something feels strange,” Qiu He said. “Both Brother Li and I feel like our dorm wasn’t just three people before, but we can’t remember who the other person was.”
Su Moyu froze when she heard that.
“Yeah, I also feel like the dorm is kind of empty,” Li Bowen added. “It just feels off, but I can’t explain it.”
Hearing this, Su Moyu felt a chill run down her spine.
Could it be that they… didn’t actually get reborn, but instead something changed in the original timeline?
She looked at Bai Shuchuan with confusion. He also looked back at her, equally troubled.
“Maybe it’s because Brother Bai got married, so it feels quieter,” Qiu He continued.
“That could be it,” Li Bowen agreed.
Su Moyu quietly reached out and tugged at Bai Shuchuan’s hand, signaling him not to say anything.
Bai Shuchuan turned to look at her. Seeing her gently shake her head, he understood immediately.
“Then do you think… it’s possible that person was me?” Su Moyu said with a smile, pointing at herself. When Bai Shuchuan heard this, he also looked confused.
Li Bowen smiled. “I did think about that before, but it feels kind of unreasonable… and also a bit reasonable at the same time. But you’re a girl, so I don’t know why I would think that.”
Qiu He scratched his head. “To be honest, I thought the same thing too.”
Su Moyu nodded thoughtfully. “Can you tell me what I’m like in your impression?”
Bai Shuchuan just listened quietly.
“Well… usually you’re always with Brother Bai, and we only eat together sometimes,” Qiu He said. “You seem easy to get along with and pretty casual.”
“I can’t really explain it either,” Li Bowen added. “Anyway, you’re easy to get along with and quite careful and thoughtful.”
“Oh, that sounds pretty good,” Su Moyu said, suddenly looking proud.
“Did Brother Bai say bad things about you?” Qiu He joked. “Don’t drag us into your couple problems.”
Su Moyu glanced at Bai Shuchuan beside her, and her face suddenly turned a little red.
“He definitely wouldn’t,” she snorted softly.
“Alright, alright, we know you two are sweet together,” Qiu He said.
“Exactly, you’ve been together for so long,” Li Bowen agreed.
After this light joking, Su Moyu more or less understood how they saw her now.
The group sat down near the riverside. There was a big light in front of the shop, and since it was near a university, the place was still lively at night.
Qiu He casually ordered a few kilos of beef, some barbecue skewers, and beer. The group started chatting happily.
Su Moyu wanted to drink.
But Bai Shuchuan ordered juice for her.
“I want to drink,” Su Moyu muttered softly, not liking how he was controlling her.
A gentle breeze brushed against her face, cool and refreshing.
“Come on, we’re finally out together. It’s fine to drink a little,” Li Bowen said cheerfully, stuffing a piece of oily grilled meat into his mouth.
“Exactly,” Su Moyu agreed. “It’s a rare gathering today. I want to drink.”
Bai Shuchuan looked troubled, but in the end, he agreed to her request.
“If she gets drunk, you can take care of her anyway,” Qiu He said. “If needed, we can help take you both home.”
Bai Shuchuan let out a soft sigh, and then saw Su Moyu casually pick up a can of beer.
