Chapter 59: More Than Just Friends
Bai Shuchuan felt a warm feeling in his heart.
Between guys, there is always a sense of trust. Bai Shuchuan had always felt comfortable sharing his thoughts with Su Moyu, and he was also happy to work together with her.
But he didn’t really want to trouble her. For example, things like the house loan.
Actually, that was something his mother was dealing with. The two of them were still college students and didn’t have stable income. His mother was the one responsible for repaying the loan, and Bai Shuchuan only took on part of it to help ease her burden.
“We’re basically like a family now, right? Don’t carry everything by yourself. I’m not someone who just takes the benefits,” Su Moyu said seriously, sounding a bit like an elder.
After saying that, she reached out and patted his shoulder. “From now on, you have to discuss everything with me first, okay?”
A smile appeared on Bai Shuchuan’s face, and he suddenly felt a sense of relief.
“Okay,” he replied.
At that moment, they had reached the entrance of the girls’ dorm. Su Moyu turned to say goodbye, took the laptop from his hands, and walked away.
Just as Bai Shuchuan was about to take out his phone, he saw Su Moyu turn back and open her arms toward him, looking a bit awkward while holding the weight.
“Give me a hug before you go,” she said softly.
Bai Shuchuan paused, then opened his arms. Su Moyu immediately stepped into his embrace.
He once again felt how small and soft she was, and his heartbeat sped up without him noticing. Her hair brushed against his neck, making it a little ticklish.
But after just a few seconds, she let go. When he looked at her face, he saw a faint blush.
Maybe… she was a little shy?
He thought it might also be because there were people around.
“How long is your shift this afternoon?” Su Moyu asked softly, her voice gentler now.
“From 12:30 to 4:30,” Bai Shuchuan answered.
“Okay,” she nodded, helping hold the laptop bag as well. “Then we should hurry.”
After saying that, she looked at his face again, feeling a strange sense of uncertainty.
They were… dating now, right?
Maybe because they were already so familiar with each other, she still felt something hard to describe.
Maybe this was just how it felt to date Bai Shuchuan…
He wasn’t the type to be overly clingy in a relationship.
But Su Moyu was. Though, she wished she wasn’t.
Being too clingy could make someone look foolish or become annoying.
That was also why she kept reminding herself to stay a bit reserved.
She turned and walked into the dorm building, heading back to her room like she was used to.
For the next few days, she would stay at school. There was a lab class early tomorrow morning, and she didn’t want to wake up too early and squeeze into the subway with the morning crowd.
She went upstairs and put her things down.
Her three roommates looked curious when they saw her carrying a laptop.
“Susu, whose laptop is that?” Qu Xintong asked.
“It’s Shuchuan’s,” Su Moyu replied. She placed her books on the shelf and hurried out of the room.
Seeing how rushed she was, Zhou Ya quickly tried to call out to her.
“Susu, about the volunteer activity this afternoon, are you going with me…?”
Before Zhou Ya could finish speaking, Su Moyu had already run out of the dorm room.
Seeing Zhou Ya look a bit disappointed, Yan Hanyue gave a gentle smile.
“She’s probably already teamed up with Bai Shuchuan. You can just team up with me,” Yan Hanyue said. “Susu is busy being in love right now~”
Zhou Ya sighed softly, not really sure why she felt a bit down.
“I really envy her. She’s been with the same person for so long, but she’s still so passionate every day,” Zhou Ya said as she took out her phone and walked over to Yan Hanyue. “Alright, I’ll team up with you then.”
“That’s why Susu is really amazing,” Yan Hanyue said with a smile. “Let’s go eat after we sign up. Xiao Tong, stop playing.”
Qu Xintong had just opened Plants vs. Zombies. Hearing Yan Hanyue, she immediately looked at her with a pleading expression.
“There are probably still a lot of people right now…”
“If we walk there, it’ll be about the same time,” Zhou Ya reminded her.
“Fine…” Qu Xintong stood up reluctantly. Her eyes casually glanced at the laptop bag Su Moyu left on the chair, and a hint of envy showed in her eyes.
………………………
Su Moyu came downstairs and walked up to Bai Shuchuan. “Let’s go, time to eat!”
Bai Shuchuan nodded and turned toward the path leading to the cafeteria.
Walking beside him, Su Moyu looked down at short videos on her phone, then carefully glanced at his hand hanging by his side.
Does this guy really have no thoughts at all!?
She swallowed nervously. They were dating, but there wasn’t even any physical contact.
She looked at his face and saw he was seriously focused on his phone.
Fine… then I’ll take the initiative.
Suddenly, Bai Shuchuan felt a soft touch in his palm. He turned to look at Su Moyu, surprise showing on his face.
“What, you don’t even want to hold your girlfriend’s hand while walking?” Su Moyu teased calmly, trying to hide her nervous heartbeat.
Bai Shuchuan gently held her hand. “I was afraid you wouldn’t like it.”
Su Moyu almost laughed.
“This morning you were all over me, and now you’re worried I won’t like it?”
Bai Shuchuan cleared his throat. “This morning you started it first. I also think I was a bit impulsive.”
Su Moyu looked away, biting her lower lip.
Actually… she kind of liked that feeling of being taken the lead on.
Only now did she realize she might have discovered a side of herself she didn’t expect.
Last night, when things got more intense, every time he used a bit more strength, she felt a sharp pain. But at the same time, the feeling in her body would rise even higher.
“I wouldn’t get mad. You can do what you want. If I don’t like it, I’ll say no,” Su Moyu said softly, her voice sounding a bit hesitant.
Bai Shuchuan reached out and gently patted her head. It made her scalp tingle, and her cheeks quickly turned red.
“Sometimes when you say no, you mean the opposite. And sometimes when you stay silent, it means yes… But I don’t have to guess everything, because you’ll tell me yourself,” he said softly.
Su Moyu huffed lightly. “What, do you think I’m annoying?”
“No,” he replied. “Because that’s just who you are. You can be direct and indirect at the same time. But whether it’s obvious or just a hint, it all means you want me to care about you.”
Her heart skipped a beat when she heard his gentle voice.
“And that kind of care… it’s not just between friends, right?”
Su Moyu’s face instantly turned red. She looked at him with surprise and confusion in her eyes.
