Chapter 63: Why Be So Polite with Me
Su Moyu gently let go of Bai Shuchuan’s hand. The two of them walked forward quietly like that, but she could still feel that something was a little off in the atmosphere.
“Bai Shuchuan, are you still angry?”
“No,” Bai Shuchuan replied softly. “I just… can’t quite understand it.”
His eyes fell on her face. “Right now, I do mind a bit when you get close to other guys, but I know you don’t think that way.”
He took a deep breath, as if trying hard to find the right words.
They walked past the flower bed in front of the dorm building. There were puddles of different sizes on the ground, and Su Moyu lowered her head, carefully stepping around them.
“It’s just that I still feel… a bit unhappy,” Bai Shuchuan continued.
Su Moyu swallowed, her expression becoming a little hesitant.
“But I didn’t really do anything wrong…” she frowned, her voice becoming softer.
“That’s true, but… maybe I’m overthinking,” Bai Shuchuan said, sounding a bit helpless. “When I see something like that, I can’t help but imagine things.”
Su Moyu held his hand, feeling conflicted. Seeing the troubled look on his face, she suddenly felt a bit guilty.
Maybe she really shouldn’t have made things hard for him.
“I know you wouldn’t do what I’m thinking about, but when I see it, I just can’t stop myself from thinking that way,” Bai Shuchuan said quietly after a long pause. “Maybe I’m just a bit selfish.”
At that moment, Su Moyu realized something.
Maybe Bai Shuchuan seemed slow to react and not good at expressing himself, but just like her, he could overthink and feel insecure.
Some things couldn’t be solved just by saying a few words and acting cute.
And making him explain his thoughts like this was also putting pressure on him.
In a relationship, some things may seem small or big, but sometimes even a small action can become the last straw.
“Bai Shuchuan, I’m sorry,” Su Moyu said softly.
“I shouldn’t have been so close to another guy.” She lowered her head, her voice fading into the sound of the rain.
But Bai Shuchuan still heard her clearly.
Suddenly, she felt a warm touch on her head. Bai Shuchuan raised his hand and gently patted her head.
The heavy feeling in Su Moyu’s heart eased a little. But when she looked up and saw his gentle smile, her guilt grew stronger again.
“It’s not a big deal. As long as you understand it now, it’s fine,” Bai Shuchuan said softly. “I won’t blame you for this.”
“Now that I think about it calmly, you’re not that kind of person, so you wouldn’t do anything inappropriate.”
“Maybe I should trust you more.”
His hand was still gently stroking her head. That warm feeling suddenly touched the softest part of her heart.
Su Moyu suddenly felt that she had been too willful just now.
But he didn’t say a single word to blame her.
The rain kept falling softly. Su Moyu unconsciously tightened her grip on his hand.
He didn’t blame her, and that made her feel even more sorry toward him.
If this had been in her previous relationship, things might have become complicated again.
“What do you want to eat?” Bai Shuchuan noticed that she didn’t seem quite right, so he changed the topic. “How about we go out and have something nice?”
His gentle voice sounded again, and he lightly tugged her hand.
She knew that Bai Shuchuan had already forgiven her.
But the guilt in her heart still hadn’t faded.
“Bai Shuchuan…” Su Moyu’s soft voice came from beside him.
“What is it?” he replied gently.
“I won’t do that again in the future,” she said quietly. Her tone sounded firm, with a slight hoarseness.
“Okay,” Bai Shuchuan answered. “Tonight, let’s go eat clay pot dishes at the place across from the school.”
It was her favorite.
Su Moyu was really touched. Her eyes turned red, and her heart felt warm.
A strong urge rose inside her, she wanted to rush into his arms.
But it was still raining, and they were in a public place, so she felt too shy to do that.
She even thought about what it would feel like if her lips were kissed.
Maybe in her previous relationship, she had held back her feelings too much.
She never went to places Zhou Ya didn’t like. When they ate together, they always chose places that Zhou Ya could accept.
So now, being cared for like this, Su Moyu felt deeply moved.
“Mm,” she replied softly, making a quiet promise in her heart.
She must not be so willful with Bai Shuchuan anymore.
“After dinner… are you going back to the dorm?” Bai Shuchuan continued when she didn’t speak.
He knew she tended to overthink. Before, when she complained to him, he felt that she often imagined the worst situations and made herself tired from it.
“You don’t want to spend more time with me?” she said, sounding a bit complaining. Bai Shuchuan smiled helplessly.
They understood each other without needing many words.
“I was just asking what you wanted to do,” he said.
Su Moyu laughed softly, with a teasing tone. “Bai Shuchuan, are you thick-skinned?”
Bai Shuchuan didn’t understand.
“Why are you asking that all of a sudden?”
“I just want to know.”
“I guess I’m okay,” he replied. “Didn’t I always help you present our PPT presentation in front of others before?”
“I’m not talking about presentation assignments! Hmph, never mind.”
That wasn’t what Su Moyu wanted to hear. Did he seriously not get it?
Actually… she wanted a bit more physical closeness.
But just thinking about it made her cheeks turn red.
No, no, no… no matter how bold Bai Shuchuan was, she herself was too shy.
“Do you have anything important to do after dinner?”
“No, I’m quite free tonight,” Bai Shuchuan said.
A meaningful smile appeared on Su Moyu’s face. “Then tonight, let’s walk around together.”
“Okay,” Bai Shuchuan agreed honestly. The two of them left the school and sat down at a restaurant.
“Are you treating me?” Su Moyu looked at him with expectation, her voice soft and pleasant.
“Mm,” Bai Shuchuan replied. “Order whatever you want.”
Su Moyu felt a bit strange. She was the one who made a mistake first, so why was he the one paying?
She picked up her phone, scanned the code, ordered for both of them, and quietly paid.
“All done,” she said. “I ordered for you too.”
“Okay,” Bai Shuchuan said, lowering his head to scan the QR code on the table. Then he realized the order had already been paid.
He looked up at Su Moyu in confusion and met her smiling face.
“It’s okay, I’ll treat you,” Su Moyu said with a smile.
“That’s not necessary,” Bai Shuchuan replied instinctively.
Su Moyu puffed her cheeks, thinking that sometimes he really didn’t get the hint.
She cleared her throat, her cheeks suddenly turning red.
“Why are you being so polite with me, hubby?”
