Chapter 71: Alright, Alright
After hearing Qu Xintong call out, Su Moyu suddenly came back to her senses and quickly put down the beaker in her hand.
Qu Xintong let out a soft breath. “Why do you seem so distracted, Susu? Did you not sleep well?”
She was actually a bit worried that waking Su Moyu up earlier had caused this.
Strange… Susu usually slept very deeply. Why did she wake up so easily this morning?
Qu Xintong didn’t understand, but she still wanted to make it up to her.
“Then you can do the water bath heating,” Xie Anqi said.
“Okay,” Bai Shuchuan replied again.
“You’re such a great partner!” Xie Anqi praised.
Su Moyu pressed her lips together and told herself she had to be a generous woman…
But this kind of interaction happened quite a few times after that. By the time the lab class ended, Su Moyu immediately went to stop Bai Shuchuan on the way out.
“What’s wrong?” Bai Shuchuan asked when he saw her pouting. He felt that her mood seemed a bit off.
Su Moyu puffed her cheeks and stared at him. She casually took off the hair tie from behind her head, but her beautiful eyes kept staring straight at him.
Her hair fell down over her shoulders. Since it had been tied up for a while, it looked slightly wavy.
“I’m not happy,” she said softly, sounding a bit wronged.
Bai Shuchuan reached out and patted her head. “What’s wrong?”
Su Moyu suddenly felt a little embarrassed.
After all, she had once tried to flirt with other boys behind his back…
And Bai Shuchuan had only been paired with Xie Anqi because of the lab arrangement.
Now, she could finally understand how he felt back then.
“It’s because you were talking and laughing with Xie Anqi,” she muttered softly as they walked out of the teaching building.
Bai Shuchuan gently rubbed the back of her hand with his thumb. “I’ll be more careful next time.”
Su Moyu quickly shook her head. “I’m not blaming you. I just want you to comfort me.”
She knew she couldn’t blame him for this. It was just her own small emotions. Su Moyu was actually quite reasonable.
“Uh…” Bai Shuchuan started to speak but didn’t know what to say.
Seeing his troubled expression, Su Moyu suddenly smiled.
Seriously… she thought to herself, why does he freeze at times like this?
A simple and honest guy like him would never think of betraying her.
She felt she had been worrying too much.
“Just say a few sweet, cheesy words,” she said, gently pulling his hand.
Bai Shuchuan still looked troubled.
“I love you.”
Just as Su Moyu was about to say something, she heard Bai Shuchuan say it softly.
Her face instantly turned red. She looked up at him, and her beautiful eyes quickly filled with a light mist.
Bai Shuchuan felt a bit shy under her gaze, but he didn’t show it as obviously as she did.
At least, he didn’t blush as easily as she did.
He smiled helplessly and subconsciously avoided looking at her.
Showing feelings like this was always difficult. He had never expressed his emotions so directly before. Maybe he was afraid of being rejected, so he couldn’t help but feel nervous.
When he was young, Bai Shuchuan watched cartoons that taught him to bravely express love to his parents.
His parents had always been by his side since he was young, answering his questions, helping him develop his interests, and taking care of everything from small things like washing clothes and cooking to going to the doctor.
So of course, he loved them.
When Bai Shuchuan was little, he once gathered his courage and told his mother that he loved her. But her response was that getting good grades was worth more than a thousand words.
He didn’t realize that such a sentence almost used up all the courage a child had.
A strong sweetness filled Su Moyu’s heart, like the caramel milk tea she used to love, rich and smooth.
Her cheeks quickly became hot, and she was so flustered yet happy that she couldn’t speak.
Bai Shuchuan had already looked away. Sunlight filtered through the leaves on both sides of the road, casting soft shadows on him.
Su Moyu glanced around. There were people walking along the path.
She really wanted to kiss him, but she felt she couldn’t do it.
After her thoughts calmed down a little, she let out a soft breath.
“I love you too.”
Bai Shuchuan heard her soft voice. Even though it was quiet, he heard it clearly, and he could feel the firmness in her tone.
A relieved smile appeared on his face. Even though he had already felt it before, he always believed that Su Moyu would respond to him.
Su Moyu saw him smiling foolishly for a while, and her expression became a bit strange, though her face was still slightly red.
“What are you smiling at?” she huffed softly. His reaction really made her feel shy. “Did being in love make you silly?”
Bai Shuchuan reached out and patted her head. “Thank you.”
Su Moyu felt confused. Why was he thanking her? She had just been teasing him.
“Bai Shuchuan, you’re acting strange.”
“Am I?” Bai Shuchuan scratched his head. “But being open about your feelings… isn’t that easy.”
“So thank you for doing that with me.”
Once again, Su Moyu felt unexpectedly touched.
“Alright, alright, saying one or two cheesy lines is enough,” she said softly, her voice becoming gentle. Her eyes unconsciously drifted to his lips.
She crossed her arms, and the two of them stopped right at the dorm entrance.
“Hurry back to your dorm and get ready,” she said. She leaned into his arms for a moment, then stood on her toes and whispered near his ear.
“Okay.” Bai Shuchuan went upstairs with his textbooks, while Su Moyu turned and went back to her own dorm.
That warm feeling in her heart still remained, with a hint of sweetness.
Actually… Bai Shuchuan looked pretty handsome in his lab coat too…
She thought about that scene again as she slowly walked back to the dorm.
But what she didn’t expect was that as soon as she returned, Qu Xintong handed her a whole pack of AD calcium drinks.
“Susu, I’m really sorry for waking you up this morning…”
Qu Xintong lowered her head like a child who had done something wrong.
Su Moyu didn’t know how to react to this.
“No, no!” she quickly said, feeling a bit embarrassed by how serious Qu Xintong was.
“It’s okay, I won’t be angry,” Su Moyu said. She quickly took one bottle from the pack and pushed the rest back into Qu Xintong’s hands. “If you really feel bad, just treat me to one bottle.”
While feeling touched, she also patted her chest out of habit. But because of her body now, the simple movement looked a bit…
Soft and slightly bouncy.
